Professor todd , thanks for doing this video, it's good to see a professional bike builder take the time and effort to explain how to do things . Thanks again 👍👍👍✌
I just finished doing this installation on my ‘76 Bonneville. Having this video is like having a master mechanic looking over your shoulder while doing the job. Thank you for this and all the other videos you produce. Great job!!
Best ever video's I've ever had the privilege to see, beautifully presented, plane, clear and concise. As someone said it's like having your own personal mechanic 24/7. Wish I had the opportunity to buy one of your bikes. Keep it up, Great.🤩
Hey bud, great tutorial my Bonnie needs a new Pazon and I’m crap with electronics but now after watching you I’m ordering a new one and will self install.. cheers... if you make it to England my doors open for a coffee or beer
Thank you so much for this fine introduction to installing a Pazon Ign. I have recently bought a 68 Triumph that wasn't holding idle and by watching this I found that it was just too far advanced, once I corrected this it is now running nice and smooth. Who ever owned this bike before me and installed a Pazon Ign didn't know how to fine set it at the end with the timing light, made a world of difference. You have a customer and student for life. Really appreciate all the time you have put into these educational videos. They are truly wonderful, wish they would have been around when I was a kid, but in those days computers were something out of science fiction and the most advanced type of video education was the black and white TV set hahahhaa.......
Adding to my earlier comment regarding my stuck in the wrong position magnet for the Pazon ignition. I used a slide hammer on the m8 bolt that threads into the centre of the magnet. Very easy. I used the two finger puller on the head of the m8 bolt. The timing is done now and it is perfect.
Thanks for the sharing this process! We went through it on my 850 Norton pretty much step by step pausing to follow along as we installed also. Worked great! Recieved all my engine electrical from y'all. Nice to have a business that you can trust and have some support if needed! My bike is alive again after a 25 year nap.
Great video! As others have said, that attention to detail is what makes the difference,.... i.e. The close up view of the proper wire crimping technique. Thanks again, and keep them coming.
Excellent and thorough step-by-step instructions with lots of unique tips on how to make the change to the Pazon ignition go smoothly. Thanks for taking the time and effort to put this online.
Thanks for the great detail here. I have been stumbling around trying to decide which IE to purchase for my 1978 Bonneville. You made my mind up for me, Pazon sure spark and a pair of Tri-Spark 6V coils on order for my T140E. Gonna use your video as reference.
@@lowbrowcustoms Spent a wet day in the garage today fitting the Pazon. Re-watched your video last night just to boost my confidence a little. Apart from my T140E being +ve earth, I followed your guide. One observation: On my bike the coils are located to the rear of the battery under the seat. I had to get a little inventive on placement of the Pazon Module to enable the ignition trigger wires (Y/B & B/W) to reach their intended terminals. The hardest part of the whole job was removing the old Auto Advance Unit, but some gentle heat combined with an improvised slide hammer tool broke its 44 year old grip. On the bright side, the bike fired up 2nd kick, which it hasn't ever done before. Just need to tidy the wiring up a touch and then strobe-time the ignition tomorrow. Thanks again for a great video.
Thank You for taking the time to do a step by step install. I am a mechanic myself but unfamiliar with brit bikes. All the videos I have watched have been easy and FUN to follow. Its as if I am watching myself. Thanks and keep up the good work
Excellent Todd, I have recently purchased a 1972 Triumph Trophy x USA. It's in need of a lot of love and $$$$$ but I'll get there. The Pazon Ignition System will be a definite purchase.
Really helpful video (like all your videos) - I'm just about to fit exactly that system to my TR7, which is also negative earth. Your simplified wiring diagram is also excellent. Thanks very much for this - If I was in the US I'd make a point of visiting to buy you a beer.
Todd, thank you for this. I just finished watching the Lunmad version and it's comforting to see the info in sync. I may end up with Pazon but it has the boyer on it now. Just need to check it out. See if it's viable. Mine is a 1971 TR6C motor on an old '63 Tiger frame with a springer front end. The way you thoroughly covered this subject will keep me coming back to Lowbrow for lessons and parts like that Antigravity Battery, for instance.
Thank you very much for this video ! as I endeavor to install the electronic ignition on my 1977 Bony 750 I had many questions ...but you answered them all ...THANK YOU
Thanks for this. This will be my next mod. I’m sorting out my 66 t100 with points that I’ve heard started. I found out my battery has 6v and it’s from 2011
Enjoyed watching this. Great attention to all the little details. I'm lucky to have a Boyer already installed by the PO, but I'd been wondering how it works since the manual only shows the original ignition setup. Time to go check whether I've still got old coils.
Exceptional detail and great quality too! Really like all your tips and tricks from your experience. Installing a Pazon in my Bonneville tomorrow. Thank you very much. -Kirby
Thanks! I've got my grandfather's 71 Trident here in the shop now. I'm going through it and debating how I want to breathe new life into it. You've shown me a few tricks I hadn't thought of. Appreciate that. Wiring is definitely my next move. I'm still debating Pazon over Boyer. Any help with the old Triple is appreciated. THANKS!!
well done great help had one done not convinced he did it right now i can check it out 74 tr7 he said he had trouble getting a reliable timing mark ??????????????????
Do you know the measurement at the piston BTDC for 38 degrees? I'm trying to time a 1977 Triumph 750 Jubilee and I think it has the older style primary case. Would be a lot easier not remove the case cover and use my spark plug hole dial height tool. What is the height of the piston at 38 degrees DTDC? Great video!!!
Sir I really appreciate your detailed instruction on the pazon installation, a job well done!!.....Furthermore I would like to know what is the correct cam for increased proformance.....Thanks in advance.
HI Todd ....Great video, I have a 71 BSA with the inspection cover, I followed the video a few times still no luck . other than the rotation position is there other tricks for BSA
great video. 1 question. I want to install the pazon on a A65 BSA, would I turn the rear wheel opposite of the way you turned to line up the timing mark with pointer?
Thank you!!!! You are an awesome teacher! Helped lots. My motorcycle used to have retarded timing of about 2 degrees with the points, probably cuz it kicked back on me once and f"@"ked up my foot. lol Now with the EI I have a good spark, all test readings are good except for zener diode that I haven't tested (another thing to learn). Tried to start it and no go, ordered a modern regulator/rectifier so I can eliminate the zener diode and rect. Will see if this works. It coudn't be because my timing is still retarded 2 degrees, shouldn't be hard to start.
Excellent video and thank you!! I'm ready to do the switch over on my 68 Bonneville. Questions: I have an 12 V dual lead coil. Is this going to change the wiring or do I just eliminate the jumper wire? No condensers needed correct?
You are correct a 12 V dual lead coil can be used as long as it is in the 4 -4.5 Ohm range no jumper wire needed ,and no condensers are needed with the Pazon system
Hey Todd, do you ever wire the motorcycle with a Lucas Capacitor, instead of a battery? Everything is the same pretty much, except there was a zener diode, in place of the voltage regulator. The Capacitor in place of the battery. I had a 71' BSA 650 back in the day wired like that! Too bad that transistors we're not invented yet, back then!
just curious.. if someone doesnt have the right primary cover or access to one, do you or anyone else make a tool for it? like a bar with a pointer on it that attaches with a few screws and spacers that will put the pointer at the same spot it would be with the cover? id not, you should design one - possibly even have the pointer relocatable for different makes / years
Can you set the timing with a strobe light if you don't have the cover with the hole in it? I'm thinking i should probably get an extra cover. I'm buying an old Triumph tomorrow that doesn't come with that type of cover.
So with what appears to be 2 trigger coils, they chose to fire in the exhaust stroke like an HD ... not as precise but probably 'good enough' for the average application?
