I was searching for this and clicked on another tutorial, and skipped the first minute because it was all "like and subscribe" and then accidentally skipped to the next video (this one) and I'm so unbelievably surprised and happy that there are still people out there doing youtube for the content and not just to stretch the video to 10 minutes to get the max add revenue. Thank you so much for it
A bit frustrating to always have to download/install multiple things from multiple sources (hopefully all legit) just to connect a camera, but this video was to the point and I appreciate that. I realize I can hit pause anytime I need to, but wow! You went through those steps super fast.

@@GreenBoxMedia For some reason I'm not getting a image. I have it all set up as shown in your vid, am I missing something? After it states it's waiting for camera to respond it brings up the remote box by itself with no camera image.
Keep in mind the remote view frame rate is low regardless of camera settings. So if you want 60fps you NEED a capture card, but just for webcam this works perfect. For me latency is about the same as my HD60S.
hell yeah, that's what I wanted man thanks for the awesome trick although it was so simple but I couldn't figure that out until I watched your video so thanks again.
As there's quite a few of us that have been complaining about Sony cameras not connecting via PC Remote, the solution I've just found is to turn on Airplane Mode -- it appears that applications attempting to use the WiFi prevent the camera from establishing a PC Remote connection. Hope it helps.
Just watched and appreciated that you got to the point! Figured the least I could do was stay for the full vid which was exactly what I was looking for
This was a really really helpful video, I was just planning to buy a laptop and that one doesn't have a webcam, now I don't need to worry about that at all. Thanks a lot to you and keep bringing such awesome content man!

I don't own a hx60 so unfortunately I don't know where and how, but if the cam is listed as not supported in the list linked in the description you might be out of luck.. sorry.
Thank you. I've had my Sony A6100 for a little over a month now and this was the ultimate basic set up guide out there. I haven't had a "real" camera in over 25 years and a lot has changed. While I did a bit of research on this b4 I bought it (Pro: excellent for non-professional photographer, Con: Menu is way too long and complicated) this guide will finally get me on the right track. I've already taken wonderful photos, but wanted to know how to get a bit more out of it (Manual mode). So I'll be referring back to this video several times, as well as the other videos you put up links to during the video. Thanks again for the well presented, non-confusing and easy to follow guide you've put together here. And yes, you are definetly worth the sub and alert icon!
Have been looking to upgrade to one of the Sony cameras for streaming. This was very helpful and I will be referring back to it again soon. Made it all the way to the very end! Great job.
It's now up an running, very cool; beats the hell out of my laptop camera. I only had trouble with Zoom not recognizing the virtual camera until I uninstalled and reinstalled.

Nope. There is no way to make this work on OSX (also not the new method) However you can use a capture card like the cheap one we reviewed a few videos ago.
I’ve done this several times to record 4K while streaming 1080p. You can even apply a LUT in OBS. But it’s a clunky solution. You need the remote app always open, and the framerate is slightly choppy, and you don’t get audio. If you use a mic you’ll need to delay the audio about a half second, but that’s not exact/consistent. You’re much better off getting a $20 USB 1080p HDMI capture thingy on eBay that will actually show up as a USB webcam.
This video is useful. I just saw a video about how to turn smartphone into webcam and now how to turn Sony camera into webcam. Quite often the device we already had still has one or some "hidden" features that we have not utilized yet.
Thanks for the lesson. This may come in very handy for me next week! I'm shooting locally for a production company in another state who insists on recording remotely. Not sure why they want to do it that way, but I'm up for the challenge!
