Jonathan Diosa i totally agree... but in this day and age with attention spans of 30 seconds no one can play this game, let alone understand or appreciate it... This is when games were about story not meaningless action or graphics... Best game ever.
Five hours in. No casual watch. I have binge watched this since yesterday and will finish it. I was late to the draw on this game. I put 70 hours into it and beat it back in 2007 on a PS1. I had beaten Final Fantasy VII back in early 2005 for the first time and was hungry for something that was as good. I finally got led to this game. The hard work put into editing this video has my upmost respect for the upload.
Xenogears: A 5th dimension being makes guy simp over a mother figure for generations in order to free himself from the confines of a rogue mechanical weapon who brainwashed people into its resurrection. Tell me that's not a perfect description
6:53:48 Dead silence than the music from one her past lives starts playing as she falls in slow motion, being at peace with her choice to sacrifice herself to save other. Absolutely perfect to see him tearing through space and time thinking "I can't loose her again" taking the full force to guard her. Straight up gave me chills.
Echoing others' comments. This is my favorite story. In any medium. And this is very well done. It's like a live-action text novel/audio book/Opera/anime hybrid. Fantastic work and thank you for putting this together.
I've always been entranced by all the wondrous different locations you can go to in old JRPGs... something that new games haven't been able to capture despite their higher graphical and visual prowess. They never get the atmosphere right and put no heart into designing the places, so they're all soulless.
@@eeeeggnog._.yeah to bad it’s story is to overly loaded with unnecessary comedy fan service of really ruining the tone of what Xenoblade has truly been all because the creator was like IAM BORED 🤪you know what I want to MAKE HENTI yeah if you were going to do that you might as we have made a NEW IP different from XENO 👽 BLADE For the love of xeno 😒 I finished it and unlike 1 and 3 I’ll never go back to 2 and yes iam Still pissed of how much they retconned from The first game that had NO BUSINESS F RETCONNING Sorry but not sorry iam not a sheep and just accept everything on a whim just because I will call shit out of need be especially when Tone Doesn’t fit on a franchise I just will never understand how the F this game was the most expensive and most high praise game of the xeno franchise and don’t even get me started on that slow Ass gamplay and gimmick that hinders the progression of your gameplay
@@thatjrpganimefanplayerjusi8003 you type like my uncle who's convinced Obama was a lizard. But even despite that, and even though I've learned to love it for its own deviations, I also think you're basically correct. Though I liked the retcons, helped flesh out the world and introduce more elements akin to Gears (such as Logos/Pneuma/Ontos being similar to Anima/Animus). It's not terrible. By the metrics of other franchises, it's a masterpiece. By the metrics of Takahashi's works, though, it's the weakest Xeno game by far. I wish the title of "best selling" went to any other Xeno game. The franchise has been permanently tainted with the reputation that it's a weeaboo fanservice gacha, even if that undersells 2. Morytha was cool though.
This was the first RPG I ever played. Everyone was raving about FF7 at the time and I was like “Have you played Xenogears?” Still have my original copy, but it has become such a pain to play, as with my copy of Chrono Trigger. Thank you for uploading this to watch as I age, and no longer have a Christmas Break to spend hours a day without another care in the world.
Hey Helsoinium, I really appreciated you uploading this movie. I loved Xenogears, I never finished it, however I was able to experience it again having little to no time to invest in the game. However it answered a lot of questions that I did not know about not having finished the game. Thank you and keep up the good work.
I would like to thank you very much for the hard work you put into editing this. it's really well paced, clean and enjoyable to watch. Living in europe I can't play xenogears even on the PS store and my emulator has been acting up since 2012, sadly only with XG which happens to be my favourite game. I tried watching let's play but i just can't. Gave your video a try and I loved it, watching it on my TV for 2 nights in a row.
@@cigh7445 the original ps1 enabled you to slot in a smart cartridge. (Before Gameshark/action replay.) I live in UK and I imported a few Square games inc this one. As I do not know of any American street address, I haven't made an account on the PS4/5. But with so many older games now being re-released in Japanese and English, namely Saga Frontier & legend of mana, then they can release this outside of America. America needs to understand that many nations speak or at least can read English, even in Europe. I've pre-ordered the Polymega hoping at least my mixture of PAL & NTSC games will finally boot up. Even the Japanese game Racing lagoon with the English patch might load.
Thank you for posting this!!!, Xenoigears for me is the best JRPG of all time even after more than 20 years of gaming. stories is 10/10, Soundtrack is 10/10, character developments is also 10/10. i subscribed to show my thanks.
When i was 10 i bought this game from a yard sale for 5$ totally worth it..I managed to defeat Ramsus but then the Disc broke and never passed it.. But then 8 years later i got it on an emulator on my android, took me time to find it since i couldn't remember the name though, and since then I've passed it 3 times. I can't get enough of this game. Im so glad i found it at the yard sale.
Almost perfect... almost. The fact that every major battle was cut kind of dampers this, though. Not that we needed 10 minute long boss fights, but a couple minutes each for some of the major fights would have helped to flesh out the action. Still, it's the best story / movie mode out there for Xenogears that is both great in picture quality and doesn't attempt to be a speed read. I have friends and family members who don't play games to at least watch this for years, so I could always splice in a few brief moments of combat. All that said, I'm still glad to have come across this. I was losing hope of a decent story version, since most are either poor in resolution, speed through all the dialogue sequences faster than the eye can blink, or are incomplete.
Wow nice job! This is incredible. One of my favorite games, and the main reason was story/characters/dialogue everything about the way the told the story. And with this version you dont have to suffer through random battles.
@@Sponge416 Xenoblade is better to me too. Xenogears has a better history, but the Xenoblade history is very good too, and has more charismatic characters in my opinion, and I havent spoke about the gameplay, Xenoblade's gameplay is much better to me
Totally agree even though I do love Xenoblade 1 and X and Xenoblade 3 So far it’s crazy that the only game after xenogears that even got it’s gameplay down properly right as a modern game and it’s not even Xenoblade it’s LEGEND OF HEROS TRAILS OF COLD STEEL crazy that a franchise that’s not even part of the xeno team or IP was able to feel more like xenogears then Xenoblade itself in a gamplay sense BLOWS MY F MIND Trails of cold steel is Xenogears mecha gameplay in a modern SPIRITUAL WAY iVE always wanted to the point it almost feels like it belongs in xenogears universe lol
Thanks for putting this together, amazing RPG, one of my absolute favorites. So complex and amazing of a storyline. This was one of those games I picked up simply because it had Squares name on it. I'm glad I made that decision all those years ago, an unforgettable classic.
Instead, they ignore both Xenogear and Xenosaga and remake a remake of Xenoblade Chronicles just so it can look more anime like Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
@@signas501 Monolith sadly doesn't have the rights to Xenogears. So they can't remake it even if they wanted to. As for Xenosaga I'm not sure if it's Monolith that owns the rights or Namco.... I believe it's Monolith though and Namco was just the publisher but I could be wrong on that... Because I know Namco did do something with the Zarathustra trademark. If its a remake or not is uncertain. Even then Xenoblade 1 is an amazing game. As are all the Xeno games I've played. It deserves to be on a system that isn't dead. So do the others. I hope Xenogears does get a remake eventually. It's one of my favorite games of all time.
I remember watching my older brother play this. I was really young, but for whatever reason I was quite drawn to this game. Elly was my favorite character. ♥
Thank bro for your amazing job, the history of the game is insanely good and well develop to me, but the gameplay has some annoying things like random encounters and camera rotation, soo thanks to you we can experience the best part of this masterpiece.
This is imo the best story told in an RPG ever. Westerns and Japanese. I want this game to get the remake treatment that FFVII got. It deserves to be a finished game.
Dear @Helsionium - weren’t you also the one who did the German Translation patch - I‘m very thankful for your work. My experience was excellent and the translation was great! Thank you!
Yeah I also found that very strange, considering digital (2G) mobile phones were introduced in Japan about 5 years before the game's release... But then again, digital technology as a whole was still in its infancy at that time. For example, the game's anime scenes were made ON FILM and only later digitized for the game.
I appreciate you doing this because I really love Xenogears and think it’s an exceptionally fantastic and amazing game, I have to say that I neither understood nor agree with some of the edits you’ve made to your “movie”, here. Frankly, I’m downright confounded and upset by some of them. For instance, I cannot understand why you would choose to spend nearly *2 hours* in Nortune, the dreariest and dullest (both plot-wise and visually) and most dragging portion of the entire game, without a doubt. And that includes an entire 8 minutes in the sewer section, which is the absolute nadir of the game! You could have edited a ton of that stuff out and rushed through the salient points, but no? You keep tons of it in? I might have understood this a bit until we got to maybe my favorite part of the entire game, the Tower of Babel and Shevat. Now, you cut the entire Babel Tower section, the most inventive and visually stunning dungeon in the entire game, where every detail is significant and refers back to the opening cutscene and the deepest in-game mythology, to like *three minutes*. And you cut down the entire part with Shevat (by far the coolest locale in the whole game) and ensuing epic battle to maybe 20 minutes. Given how much time you spent in freaking *Nortune* and the goddamn sewers, this is downright unforgivable. And I just do not understand it, not one bit. I mean, did you like…. Enjoy the part wheee you’re a prisoner in Nortune for hours? And hate the part where you climb an epic and mysterious “tower” (that’s clearly a crashed spaceship) in order to reach the mysterious ancient UFO city you’ve been hearing about all game? Because I thought that part was pretty cool, and I’d have cut the boring prison town part rather than the legendary ancient flying city part. Just me.
I kind of understand your points, but the whole idea of this "movie" was to include only the *mandatory* dialogue/cutscenes and cut all of the gameplay, because many people (including myself) believe that the story and dialogue are interesting, but the gameplay is incredibly dull. I also couldn't record any battles because the hardware I ran it on at that time simply couldn't play battles at full speed. Since there's a lot of mandatory dialogue/cutscenes in Nortune, but only very little in Shevat and Babel Tower, the Nortune portion is incredibly dragged out in comparison. I only kept the "Battling" minigame in the movie because the Nortune section would be even duller without it and there's also a plot-relevant cutscene in the first round of the minigame. And no, I did not enjoy the Nortune part at all, it's definitely the game's worst part.
RpgmaniacNo1 interestingly, those who played Xenoblade say its the best game ever made. They havent witnessed the story of Xenogears. We need a remake!
I’m pretty sure you get a whole extra flashback to the Zeboim era if you put Elly in your party for this part, in addition to a lot of freaky, foreshadowing-heavy dialogue from Elly. I can fully understood the temptation to want to just stick with a party of Citan/Billy/Bart here, because you’ve barely had a chance to use Elly at this point and she knows like one deathblow probably, plus Fei is out of your party so you’re feeling vulnerable. But even so it’s so worth it to start using Elly here for gameplay purposes too, because in the late-game with a couple of etherdoublers equipped she becomes an insane powerhouse that beats out everyone else for damage output, especially in gears.
97 to 2000 Squaresoft had the best games coming out on PSX. FF7, this, FFTactics, Front Mission 3, Ergheiz, Einhander, Chrono Cross, they had some gems
🧡💛💚💙 i had no idea so many people around the world.. were also extremely touched by this game. wow .. i thought it was just me. everyone is fanatical about this . god damn this is a master piece ... they cant do a remake justice . theres no way they can replicate this
Yes, I'm recording/editing the footage right now. Chapters 1, 2, 3, 9 and 10 mostly done and already uploaded. The entire main story will be up shortly before or after the end of this year.
Awesome! Just in time for when I'm done with this probably, ha ha! I watched Xenoblade 1 shortly after I finished Chuggaaconroy's LP and I watched X shortly after you'd finished uploading it, so I'm looking forward to Xenoblade 2!
Weiter so.
This game got such a raw deal for its ending portion just being characters sitting on the chair telling you about the events. How they cut funding half way into it was awful. But I still very much love this title.
It's a pretty good walkthrough if you get stuck, I'm confused on one part, where you end up at sewer underneath castle to save Margie, went from sewer to Margie's room, how did you get to her room, been all through the castle. I must of missed it.
If you're stuck, maybe check the German walkthrough of Xenogears on my channel. It's a full walkthrough, nothing has been cut from that one. Well, it's in German, but you'll still be able to see where I'm going.
@Helsionium om I grabbed Margie and now been trying to battle ramsus, he's tougher then nails, looks like only way to beat him is with combo attacks, but can't seem to get my AP up. Ugh.
Bought the game as a young Marine when it came out came home from a short deployment only to find my wife had beaten it before me she was so excited to show me but had know idea how sad I got lol.🤣🙄
Thank you, but I now know it's actually "The autopilot system 'Faust' has been accessed" - I listened to the Japanese version and the name 'Faust' is audible very clearly in that version.
@@TheEmpressReborn Yeah, I'm a native speaker of German and wasn't able to hear the German word/name "Faust" here, even though it's pronounced correctly. Anyway, I already edited the subtitles so it should be clearer to all future viewers.
oh, thanks. Kinda disappointed because when you said movie, I thought there will be like cinematic flow which there are a little bit of fight when the time is appropriate for the fight to be there on point to the story and cutscenes. But your video still good however.

This game man...this game...oh god this game!
Hah! This guy got speechless before this masterpiece. Cult of a real player ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡ )
The game that needs a remake more than any other.
Jonathan Diosa i totally agree... but in this day and age with attention spans of 30 seconds no one can play this game, let alone understand or appreciate it...
This is when games were about story not meaningless action or graphics...
Best game ever.
God? I'll kill god. 😉
This is the best RPG ever made. Hands down. In comparison FF7 is garbage.
Should try legend of Legaia if you haven't already
Xenogears: A 5th dimension being makes guy simp over a mother figure for generations in order to free himself from the confines of a rogue mechanical weapon who brainwashed people into its resurrection.
Tell me that's not a perfect description
Holy shit. When introduced to Fei, we are given a painting of his beginning but on the left of that painting we are given his end 9:45
My favourite game and best jrpg ever made. A masterpiece. I have to play or watch it every few years.
Happy 20th anniversary Xenogears!!
HeytoyoubudiV2 Xenoblade 2's world is amazing
All the Xenoblades have great worlds and atmospheres.
The move toward open-world gaming has been mostly a negative for me...in many games the towns feel so samey
@@eeeeggnog._.yeah to bad it’s story is to overly loaded with unnecessary comedy fan service of really ruining the tone of what Xenoblade has truly been all because the creator was like IAM BORED 🤪you know what I want to MAKE HENTI
yeah if you were going to do that you might as we have made a NEW IP different from XENO 👽 BLADE For the love of xeno 😒
I finished it and unlike 1 and 3 I’ll never go back to 2 and yes iam Still pissed of how much they retconned from The first game that had NO BUSINESS F RETCONNING
Sorry but not sorry iam not a sheep and just accept everything on a whim just because I will call shit out of need be especially when Tone Doesn’t fit on a franchise
I just will never understand how the F this game was the most expensive and most high praise game of the xeno franchise and don’t even get me started on that slow Ass gamplay and gimmick that hinders the progression of your gameplay

you type like my uncle who's convinced Obama was a lizard.

Everyone was raving about FF7 at the time and I was like “Have you played Xenogears?”
Still have my original copy, but it has become such a pain to play, as with my copy of Chrono Trigger.
Thank you for uploading this to watch as I age, and no longer have a Christmas Break to spend hours a day without another care in the world.
XENOGEARS IS THE MASTERPIECE FOR EVERYTHING ! I AM GLAD THAT I AM ALIVE FOR EXPERIENCED THE GAME . THANKYOU VERY MUCH
It's awesome to know I wasn't the only person who felt this game was something special.
Probably not helpful info now but you can make a US psn account to play Gears in Europe
Use the PlayStation emu, i think ppsspp does psx as well as psp.
Same! Sucks that we never got this in Europe on PS1, it would have been phenomenal.
@@cigh7445 the original ps1 enabled you to slot in a smart cartridge. (Before Gameshark/action replay.)
I live in UK and I imported a few Square games inc this one.
Thank you for this... how you end part one is also perfect... it's sad that not many people appreciate this aesthetic work...
Proud to you who can record this 11 hours video from Xenogears.. thanx to bring this old memory to watch it again
Thank you for making this movie, glad I could re-watch Xenogears
IM REALLY FEELING IT!!
Thanks for good memories.. its been 20 years since 1st time i play this game. i cannot find any other JRPG games better than Xenogears
Xenoblade is better.
@@Sponge416 no man
@@JohnnyDarko01 yes it is
@@Sponge416 Xenoblade is better to me too. Xenogears has a better history, but the Xenoblade history is very good too, and has more charismatic characters in my opinion, and I havent spoke about the gameplay, Xenoblade's gameplay is much better to me
Totally agree even though I do love Xenoblade 1 and X and Xenoblade 3
So far it’s crazy that the only game after xenogears that even got it’s gameplay down properly right as a modern game and it’s not even Xenoblade it’s LEGEND OF HEROS TRAILS OF COLD STEEL crazy that a franchise that’s not even part of the xeno team or IP was able to feel more like xenogears then Xenoblade itself in a gamplay sense BLOWS MY F MIND
Trails of cold steel is Xenogears mecha gameplay in a modern SPIRITUAL WAY iVE always wanted to the point it almost feels like it belongs in xenogears universe lol
Fei and Elly. Number one ship of all time
Thanks for putting this together, amazing RPG, one of my absolute favorites. So complex and amazing of a storyline. This was one of those games I picked up simply because it had Squares name on it. I'm glad I made that decision all those years ago, an unforgettable classic.
Incredibly useful upload. For some of us who can't remember where they left off in the story of this game, your video has been incredibly helpful.
finish this in three days, what a masterpiece, thank you for uploading this dude. i really feel the nostalgia
2019, still waiting for a remake/remastered version for PS4/xbox1. Squaresoft wtf
Squaresoft is dead... Square Exix is definitely not the same.
And Switch as well. It would be right at home alongside Xenoblade.
It's one of my favorite games of all time.
keep waiting buddy, never gunna happen
I love how you managed to get the opening scene captioned. I always wondered just what the heck was being said!
I remember watching my older brother play this. I was really young, but for whatever reason I was quite drawn to this game. Elly was my favorite character. ♥
Thank you lord for letting this game delivered to me
Thank bro for your amazing job, the history of the game is insanely good and well develop to me, but the gameplay has some annoying things like random encounters and camera rotation, soo thanks to you we can experience the best part of this masterpiece.

Wow, the first animation is a mix of 3D with anime; ingenious!... Really well done!
Thanks for making this, I miss xenogears story but don't have time to re play it
This is imo the best story told in an RPG ever. Westerns and Japanese. I want this game to get the remake treatment that FFVII got. It deserves to be a finished game.
the treatment that FFVII got? you want them to rewrite the story? lol
It should be done as a 2D-HD remake.

This would be really good as a movie/series or something.
A full anime series in the style of the anime cutscenes would be amazing. That old-school 90s anime style is great.
It's like a biblical jason bourne into space lol. Love this game, greatest of sci fi
Brilliant. You makes me feel nostalgic.
Good job for the creator!
thank you so much for making and uploading this video ! its just what i need !
One of the sound effects on the ship bridge is a dial tone from a landline phone omg. And the corded phones. SO HIGH TECH.
Yeah I also found that very strange, considering digital (2G) mobile phones were introduced in Japan about 5 years before the game's release... But then again, digital technology as a whole was still in its infancy at that time. For example, the game's anime scenes were made ON FILM and only later digitized for the game.
@@Helsionium i mean its funny to me they could envision all of these concepts but a wireless phone. Come ooooon. Lol
This game has always been before it's time it's what got me into rpgs in the first place
And no, I did not enjoy the Nortune part at all, it's definitely the game's worst part.
back then my friend borrowed my ff7 and i end up playing this game instead and boy it was a great childhood.
The way fei and elly just love each other omg

We need a remake!
@@jonathandiosa5739 Xenoblade 1 is my favorite game. But I agree Xenogears has the best history
9:12:50 Cant believe you wouldnt put Elly on the team when putting this together like a "movie". Her dialogue down here is essential, I think.

Weiter so.
2023. Still waiting on a remake
It is incredibly upsetting to see it continue to be neglected.
we need remake of this game. :(
2:31:30 My favorite OST in this game
1000 vote! Let's go!

I always find this part sad.
This game got such a raw deal for its ending portion just being characters sitting on the chair telling you about the events. How they cut funding half way into it was awful. But I still very much love this title.
thanks dude
15:21 personal “bookmark”
It's a pretty good walkthrough if you get stuck, I'm confused on one part, where you end up at sewer underneath castle to save Margie, went from sewer to Margie's room, how did you get to her room, been all through the castle. I must of missed it.
If you're stuck, maybe check the German walkthrough of Xenogears on my channel. It's a full walkthrough, nothing has been cut from that one. Well, it's in German, but you'll still be able to see where I'm going.
@@Helsionium thanks, I will check it out.
@Helsionium om I grabbed Margie and now been trying to battle ramsus, he's tougher then nails, looks like only way to beat him is with combo attacks, but can't seem to get my AP up. Ugh.
@Helsionium ok now I'm really confused, how did you bring fei into the fight? Now I'm wondering if I screwed up or missed a step somewhere.
@@kryos0627 You fight Ramsus two times in a row. Fei should join between the two fights, regardless of how the tournament ended.
Legend

thank you
8:23:20 about there my feels go off, that shit is sad >3
It’s still alive. 😊
Bought the game as a young Marine when it came out came home from a short deployment only to find my wife had beaten it before me she was so excited to show me but had know idea how sad I got lol.🤣🙄
now someone make a movie out of the one where that guy dubbed everything
2:10 I'll help here. I can hear the whole section.
"The autopilot system files have been accessed..."
Thank you, but I now know it's actually "The autopilot system 'Faust' has been accessed" - I listened to the Japanese version and the name 'Faust' is audible very clearly in that version.
@@Helsionium Goodness! Even in English, that scene is hard to make out!
@@TheEmpressReborn Yeah, I'm a native speaker of German and wasn't able to hear the German word/name "Faust" here, even though it's pronounced correctly. Anyway, I already edited the subtitles so it should be clearer to all future viewers.
Pengen main lg
Im only watching these to see if theres any connection between Xenogears, Xenosaga, and Xenoblade
4:39:34 are you strong?
Can AI tecnology be used to reboot video games!!
Wow. I've been missing the fuck out!
Is this like full walkthrough without editing or just cutscenes without fighting gameplay in it?
Henshin Go Only cutscenes and dialogues, no battles or other gameplay.
oh, thanks. Kinda disappointed because when you said movie, I thought there will be like cinematic flow which there are a little bit of fight when the time is appropriate for the fight to be there on point to the story and cutscenes. But your video still good however.
How much would it cost to hire voice actors?
Depends on the actor and how much the need to record
SquareEnix, remaster/remake this game next please.
For fucks sake
i don't think u guys know how long movies are
First mission of the xeno games: commit adultery
Is my copy glitched or something? The music during the opening reading is much more annoying and repetetive
