Air Supply, "I'm Not In Love" evokes a similar vibe for me. It's a sadder song-more of a "desperation song" -but from the same era. And, of course, the Hollies sued Radiohead (and, pretty sure, won) for plagiarizing "The Air That I Breathe" for their song "Creep"-also a great song, regardless. I've always been a huge Graham Nash fan. That guy can fall in love like a champ. Another love song you might check out is "The One" by Elton John. Underrated, romantic.
There is no way any of todays rubbish would get anywhere near the top 100 from the 60's. A truly groundbreaking decade for popular music with gems like this.

There was a gorgeous dove that used to land on my outside open-screened bedroom window ledge in the morning - in the summer - and it just made me feel so grateful to God that I was there in my hometown Minnedosa. This place in a gorgeous valley with a lake and a river, hills & history. And whenever I was away and returning as the car began going down into the valley you could inhale the fresh air like it was the pure breath of God. Landing in that place This perfect song by The Hollies encapsulates those summers in my younger days. I miss it so much. Todays music isn't natural, and I miss real songs like this. Todays artists would take that dove and strangle it and squeeze all the blood out with no remorse in some demonic hell-scape.
