If you can play a number of Rush songs on guitar you will notice how the chord shapes are connected. Absolutely, Alex has a style all his own, the mark of a true master! Its one thing for us to be able to play his guitar work, and something else completely to conceive it. The same can be said for Geddy and Neil. I warm up by playing Rush everytime I pick up a guitar or Bass. But, with drums, I may be able to keep a beat in time. But don't even know where to start, if attempting to play anything by Neil.

I don't think the video has anything to do with Peart's cancer. The album is called "Hemispheres", and the cover shows a man in a suit and a naked ballet dancer, who are both standing on opposite hemispheres of the brain (commonly referred to as the "logical" and "creative" sides of the brain). So that's why the video shows lots of brains. And the street signs are there because of the name of a part of the song.
I still think the solo starting at 3:35 is the greatest guitar solo in rock history. Those swells Alex does at the begining are tougher than they sound. Many people think it opens with keyboard. Nope, that's all guitar.

You don't see too many other old musicians, singers, and artists having their old music repackaged in this way. Maybe there's something to this band's music - something that still is exciting and refreshing that can can continue to attract media giants for exploitation and profit.
Rush doesn't sound dated like a lot of other classic rock bands. Their music still sounds fresh and just holds up well. That's why they're one of my favorite classic rock bands ever

This is the song that made me fall in love with Rush. I love all their music but this song is by far their best. It shows us how truly talented they are without them saying a word. This is also the song that made them write shorter songs. It took almost 40 takes for them to get it right during recording.
It really is amazing how well this and most all their music stands the test of time. Another band that comes to mind that really never ages to me is Pink Floyd. Just because you don’t understand the video doesn’t make it bad. Everything is there for a reason. The people at the beginning are moving in sync with the music, there are three brains in the tube for the three members of the band, etc. It all means something, you just have to make an effort to understand it.

I think Bohemian Rhapsody's true shining is the vocals... the instrumental performances aren't particularly challenging. La Villa Strangiato obviously has no vocals, but the instrumental performances are all VERY challenging and complex. Although it didn't get the commercial acclaim that Bohemian Rhapsody did, I'd be more likely to say that Bohemian Rhapsody is Queen's La Villa.
Hate to stomp on the Queen fans; B.R. has small shoulders when ranked next to La Villa Strangiato. I've always likened the piece to Magnum Opus. Imagine that: a 3 piece band and a 6 piece band being compared. Rush and Kansas in the 70's produced timeless music!
