I am a classically trained piano player since I was 7 (I am 43), and I firmly believe that The Poet Acts is one of the most beautiful pieces ever composed (and it get even prettier when it’s played piano-only). I can’t believe why this OST didn’t win an Oscar.

Many years ago during college I spent a Saturday helping a Swiss master pastry chef shuttle deserts to a faculty dinner. He saw me looking longingly at the Napoleons he was finishing. He cut a piece of it for me. I tasted it and said to him, "Oh my god! How can anything taste this incredibly amazing?" He smiled proudly and asked, "Would you like another?" When I tried to describe the music of Philip Glass, I immediately thought about that Napoleon. Incredibly amazing. Sometimes I wonder if I worthy enough to listen to it. I feel so privileged to live in a time when I can access this kind of beauty anytime I want.
Yes, indeed, we are the luckiest music generation to be able to push three clicks on our wonderful machines and gracefully pours forth this incredible music for all to hear. Now, what to do with all these tapes, cds, records and 45's.
Harold, are you familiar with his operas, especially "Satyagraha" and Akhnaten"? We saw "Satyagraha" at the Met back in 2011, and I still count it as one of the most moving experiences of my life, musical or otherwise. We'll be at the Met for this season's "Akhnaten" as well. Please, look these up and delve into them. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Glad that Mr. Glass drove that taxi so he could write the kind of music he wanted to write and so classical lovers could hear new music with melody, rhythm, harmony and intelligence. Woot!

It makes me cry and so sad for all that has passed and all that has ended, friendships, lovers, the time that was wasted that in retrospect should of been treasured...memories without the clarity they use to have but still with the pain and regret of yesterday....and....I love it.

"The Hours" is one of my most favorite movie & soundtrack and this cover is just absolutely amazing. I've listened to it multiple times now What a lark, what a plunge!
This is good writing music. The constant repetition and variation in this soundtrack are hypnotic; the music puts you in a productive trance and squeezes out just enough emotion to keep you engaged, but not a surfeit of feeling that will distract you.
Think tittle is perfect. When song starts, i feel that it's not the beginning, that pianist was playing it somewhere, sometime, far, far away; and that i just appeared there in order to listen to it forever and more.
I was trying to write while listening to this, and was doing well for a while, then felt like I was part of a life's work montage in a movie. I suppose that is success!
Fantastic. From Metamorphosis to The hours was a logical progression. And an emotional one too, since Kafka and Woolf were important influences while I was growing up. It's only right that they should be the solace in my old age. Many thanks for this beautiful performance.
Philip Glass found a very emotional way of expressing the unstable balance of the soul. This gives rise to various variations in the shades of this condition. He reflects one theme in his music. But the found form is so successful that it can be repeated like the human genome and always be deep in content.
i have never claimed to be "into classical music," but Phillip Glass has always managed to tickle some part of my brain. I have severe adhd and normally would not find lyricless music worth listening to intently.. but this.. it's somehow "more."

I love the piano compositions of Philip Glass. I read posts, obviously from trained musicians, that point out that he is not really all that much of a great talent, and I try and listen to as many great composers that I can but, other than Rachmaninoff, they just don't exhibit the beautiful, pounding passion of Philip Glass. Every day I keep coming back to give him a listen. As an artist, I find him to be my muse.
Sometimes the greatest beauty comes from simplicity. As a pianist, I can see that Glass uses many simple and common techniques in composing his pieces, but it's not about how "easy" it is, but about how masterfully it's executed. In this, Philip Glass is a master. I absolutely adore his music, and it soothes my pianist's soul to listen to it. And this artist here plays with such mastery and emotion that you're carried away into deep thought by listening. THAT is true musicianship. Bravo.

I've always loved the music from this album, but I had never taken my time to watch The Hours. Today, I had to watch that movie for a university project and it gives the music an entirely different meaning. Just as good, but so, so much more emotional, as if that was even possible. I have several interpretations of this. While I am not qualified to judge I will say that I found the dynamics (I think that is the right word) and the tempos to be fabulous. Or, to put it another way: Loved it!
By far the most compelling piano performance to date ! Ebb and flow, tempi, all beautifully convey a ‘depth of emotion’, not heard in other solo versions.
Philip Morris Glass is one of the best composers of the late 20th century! virtuous pianist! erudite! intellectual! and started his artistic career in the music industry when I was a year old! (1972) and released the first album in 1973! "Music in Similar Motion / Music In 5ths" and his vast muiscal work, with soundtracks! etc ... there are about 86 (eighty-six) :) discs released on the market! out the cameos! for other artists and also composers! I have physically three masterpieces that are for me "The Thin Blue Line (Original Soundtrack) 1999" Philip Glass: Music in Twelve Parts "1993 and finally" Philip Glass: The Complete Sony Recordings "2016. It has already released in 2020, four records that I haven't heard yet. All this work and talent, doesn't match the popular saying! Portuguese "the greater the quantity; lower is the quality "with P.Glass! it is unique and timeless! Thank you very much for existing ....

I have been listening to this compilation for years, but I recently suddenly got hooked to Morning Passages. I went around listening to a few different versions, including the original as well as other piano covers. And I find that I love yours the best. I has the drama and urgency at the build up that I needed... I used to play the piano but had mostly lost touch since, but yea, I would have played it like that too. Probably even harder, but thank you for this rendition...

Second only to Koyaanisqatsi, this is my absolute favorite work by Glass. Which isn't to slight any of his massive repertoire, all of which glitters, inspires, and touches me deeply. Wonderful playing in this piano version. The one thing you don't say is who's playing!?!

I have several interpretations of this. While I am not qualified to judge I will say that I found the dynamics (I think that is the right word) and the tempos to be fabulous. Or, to put it another way: Loved it!
By far the most compelling piano performance to date ! Ebb and flow, tempi, all beautifully convey a ‘depth of emotion’, not heard in other solo versions.

Philip Morris Glass is one of the best composers of the late 20th century! virtuous pianist! erudite! intellectual! and started his artistic career in the music industry when I was a year old! (1972) and released the first album in 1973! "Music in Similar Motion / Music In 5ths" and his vast muiscal work, with soundtracks! etc ... there are about 86 (eighty-six) :) discs released on the market! out the cameos! for other artists and also composers! I have physically three masterpieces that are for me "The Thin Blue Line (Original Soundtrack) 1999" Philip Glass: Music in Twelve Parts "1993 and finally" Philip Glass: The Complete Sony Recordings "2016. It has already released in 2020, four records that I haven't heard yet. All this work and talent, doesn't match the popular saying! Portuguese "the greater the quantity; lower is the quality "with P.Glass! it is unique and timeless! Thank you very much for existing ....

I have been listening to this compilation for years, but I recently suddenly got hooked to Morning Passages.
I went around listening to a few different versions, including the original as well as other piano covers. And I find that I love yours the best.
I has the drama and urgency at the build up that I needed... I used to play the piano but had mostly lost touch since, but yea, I would have played it like that too. Probably even harder, but thank you for this rendition...

Second only to Koyaanisqatsi, this is my absolute favorite work by Glass. Which isn't to slight any of his massive repertoire, all of which glitters, inspires, and touches me deeply. Wonderful playing in this piano version. The one thing you don't say is who's playing!?!

Desde los años ochenta (¡hace cuarenta años!), le sigo la pista a la música de Philip Glass, fue en una estación universitaria de radio de la ciudad de México. Toda o casi toda me gusta de una manera que diría es casi obsesiva. Ya muy tardíamente conocí este album; acaso cuatro o cinco años han pasado desde entonces. Y desde ese momento se convirtió en mi favorito, y nada fácil fue esa elección. Hoy lo escucho con mucha frecuencia, yo pienso que mínimo una vez por semana, es decir, que lo habré escuchado unas 200 veces y no me cansa ni me hastía. Me sigue maravillando con una nitidez propia de un primer encuentro con el ser amado, cuando dimos y recibimos un primer beso: quedo embelesado, deseoso de más; sediento de esa agua, siempre dominado por una sed que no se sacia.
