Not even close. It goes the furthest but has such ass image quality that you can't really use anything shot with it. The Sony is leaps and bounds above the Nikon, and yes, that's pretty much the general consensus.

If you take out the zoom the p1000 is practically an above 4 figure camera that has worse image quality and a smaller sensor than all smartphones in that price bracket to date. I have used the 900 and the 1000. The only acceptable print size was the smallest possible format, which is barely bigger than a large phone and even in that size it's "challenged" by any condition other than perfectly sunny. Aside from very very specific niche cases like beginner astrophotography (though cheaper AND better through other means), cataloguing wildlife (picture quality irrelevant) , voyeurism (no, not a joke, there are huge fandoms around this camera in certain parts of the internet for specifically that reason) and some others, almost nobody should actually "need" the p1000d additional zoom range over the Sony which is honestly probably the only decent Superzoom on the market in terms of image quality and quality optics. The only reason people want a Nikon p is because especially nowadays people think like a child no matter their age. What would YOU do, that you couldn't have done with the rx10 mark2, 3 or 4? Or any other camera with zoom for that matter? At Nikon's larger ranges above the maximum of the Sony, atmospheric disturbance is always a visible factor in the image, and if you remain below that why would you settle for that grainy image? Of course there is always somebody, who might "need" the extra zoom range the p1000d has to offer but that would account for a handful of people in a state, not the millions of drones who have seen something on tiktok they found cool, did no research and ordered it for private usage only to use it ones or twice for that purpose during the expected lifetime of the camera. I stand by my word that the p1000 is mainly used as a makeshift telescope by most without the actual need for a camera. At all even. And that is fine! Anyone can effectively do what they want. Just don't claim quality where there is none. And I'm not even saying the product itself is a bad one. It obviously made money and has its users. It just isn't a good camera.

well its not easy, for night photography 1" sensor cameras is optimum, but they are bigger or with smaller zoom, check out Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III.

sx740 is faster, stealthier, lighter and has otherwise same picture quality, but if you need 30% better zoom and if you often shooting in the bright sun, i recommend sx70.

FZ2000/2500 is still on the market, as far as I know, and FZ1000II is from 2018. so just a year or maybe a year and a quarter newer and both are contemporary cameras. But FZ2000/2500 have 1mm wider and 80mm longer lens reach, higher resolution video, built ND filters, headphone jack, NCF connection and clearly is a better camera than FZ1000II. FZ2000/2500 is a much better competitor to SONY RX10IV and should be presented here. Then viewers may have a better and fuller overview as a potential buyer and future user of the camera.

the leica vlux 5 is the panasonic lumix don't know fz1000/2000/2500 but it's a rebranded panasonic 1 inch sensor. fz300 was made together with leica, fz1000 and above were panasonic with no leica objectiv
it has more than enough zoom for the beginners and picture quality is very good for the price, thought if you shoot a lot at night, than its best to skip it and go with zoom cameras with at least 1 inch sensor, of course it is more expensive, but its worth it.

The kind of zoom the p1000 offers requires a tiny sensor. It's actually about 1/30 of the area a full frame sensor covers. If you want to take good pictures, care about the sensor and the quality of the lenses. Zoom or megapixel are not important, at least not in the first place.

You photograph only a few topics and have a limited mindset. Wildlife photographers need zooms not prime lenses and for small wildlife, especially small birds 200 or400 or 600 is useless. Zoom is everything. Whatever cameras you use, you'd be going home having missed every opportunity. I phoned a professional once, about hiring a fancy FF lens. When he found out what I had and what I photographed, he said forget FF, you can't match the p1000.

@@trickjacko8482 because you'll not be able to find a high quality picture made with a p1000 nor a professional photographer who would recommend it. The kind of zoom the p1000 offers requires a tiny sensor. It's actually about 1/30 of the area a full frame sensor covers. If you want to take good pictures, care about the sensor and the quality of the lenses. Zoom or megapixel are not important, at least not in the first place.
@@arnonuhm6234 think your a wee bit off there. Have you seen the lens assembly.. much the same as a mobile phone so the smaller sensor will be enough, had you a larger sensor then you would probably be looking at a huge mother fucjker of a lens and would cost thousands.

You can get good photos, just as you can take poor ones with a full frame.
Zoom is everything! You photograph only a few topics and have a limited mindset.
Wildlife photographers need zooms not prime lenses and for small wildlife, especially small birds 200 or400 or 600 is useless.
Zoom is everything. Whatever cameras you use, you'd be going home having missed every opportunity.
I phoned a professional once, about hiring a fancy FF lens. When he found out what I had and what I photographed, he said forget FF, you can't match the p1000.
@@TheBraveheart550 you're right there. There is a lot of glass inside these bridge cameras. The P1000 is 1.5kg!!
You probably haven't realised that until the mobile phone cameras came along, the highest selling cameras were the 1/2.3 sensor point and shoot category!!

Some reviewer said that FZ1000/Made in Japan version better than FZ1000-2. Both of sharpness and colour are better. However, nowadays it's hard to find a Made in Japan version of FZ1000 in the market.
