Will you be converting this into an electrolaser?
Basically, dual high-intensity lasers create a pair of ionised chammels for the high intensity electric arc to travel down, like a wireless taser.

I've been working on a project that might be helpful when it comes to things like this. I'm ordering new parts because I melted my proof of concept through a bad ground connection 😅 but once I get my new gear I should be able to set it up for more appropriate testing.
Once I get it stable I would enjoy your feedback.

What about using particulates in a stream for the charge to jump between, to extend the arc? Like salt, for instance, but set up so instead of an air-puff, each particle would be propelled via small rotating cylinders, and fed continuously? There's already little salt guns for indoor bug hunting - granted those do rely on pressurized gas. Maybe a test to see how viable it is could be done with a very fine tipped funnel and firing the arc into the top of the arc, and seeing if the charge flows at all.

👽 Did you say you like shooting? I grew up on 10 acres so naturally I love shooting. And I've been dying to share this with someone who would actually understand it. A bullet has either a left hand or right hand spin. on the way up to its apex the air all around the bullet is essentially the same. But after the Apex gravity starts to take over and pull the bullet down. Now the air underneath the bullet is thicker than the air everywhere else. So depending on which twist the bullet has it will now roll that way. It doesn't start until after the Apex and the farther the bullet drops the more it happens because the bullets dropping faster gathering more are underneath of it and it will actually role in the direction it's spinning like it's rolling across the table from left to right. Not only do I love shooting I've read every book on it I could ever find and I've never seen anyone mention it.

Plasma Channel I have four suggestions. First of all it looks great and with that clear epoxy you have an opportunity to use some led lighting for a cool effect in that epoxy to show power is going through. Second, you want it to travel farther and straighter and you could use an infra red diode laser to ionize the air ahead of the discharge to get it to follow the beam, or even use a visible light beam, and reflect it off of a metal mirror, a flat spot polished on the bottom of the little sphere holding the pointy part. Third, an electron beam might ad some distance, thought it is rather complex to build a small one. Could you use a magnetic field to focus the discharge or would it just curve it around? Lastly a ducted fan blowing the air forward might extend the range and use stator blades to keep it from vortexing but travel straight. I hope these suggestions ring a bell in your head and you try some. Good luck on an already great job.

With enough energy density he could make something like this that would function like a stun gun over 20 meters or more You can get more expensive and much smaller caps etc to make something about this size that would be capable of doing so that only uses 9 to 12 volts dc. The problem is energy density of the battery. The best lipo right now is about 3500 ma per cell something around about 140 watts little less as that is for a single 18650 cell which is 3.7 volts
To make it actually useful as a sort of non lethal weapon you would need many times that at 9 to 12 volts. Connected to an external power source from a wall you could do it pretty easy i would think

We played with the same ac generator board. It's a full H-bridge topology which has several advantages. The mosfets have lower losses. The frequency is not detemined by the tranformer. You can boost the secondary voltage by inserting a capacitor on the primary side. (Resonance) The waveform is quite symmetrocal although current control might improve that. We noticed iron losses are significant and wondered if you need the heavy hot ferrite at all. The inductance only goes down by a factor two if you take it out. Increasing the frequency by 40% wpuld bring down the current amplitude if you want that. A ferritetransformer may not be ideal for ionocrafts

Please create a Rotary Railgun based on The Star Wars Arc Troopers Shoulder Mounted Chaingun!🙏👍
Please at least three barrels, not looking for anything crazy far as rate of fire and or ammunition capacity. Just want to see at least three rotary shots in succession! Interested in this bc it's the ONLY projectile weapon in Star Wars, it's never been done, and I'm interested in barrel damage reduction from having more barrels! The Arc Troopers backpack should leave room for Plenty of room for larger power supply/source! Lol and your goin to want The Arc Troopers Helmet bc your firing a Shoulder Mounted Railgun! Perhaps you could just make the whole uniform as well ;)

Fantastic video, by the way. I love how you directly talk about the process you use to build such amazing machines.

They are used in large industrial applications and in electronic air cleaners

not really my field so this might be all incorrect but:
if i were to oversimplify what's happening with the salt at the end, you're charging it by shooting electrons at it, correct? so electron squirt gun? the image itself made me think "what about the opposite?" Started thinking about shows where people with electric powers drain appliances to charge up. then i thought, even if out of the top of my head i don't think it's possible, could you make a gauntlet/gun/device that would force the flow of electrons from whatever it's pointed at towards itself? same way you charged the salt, a gun that would discharge statically charged salt or, even better, steal electricity from a light bulb if pointed towards the wiring and make it dim.

The lightning gun is epic! Do you offer plans for the DC HV power supply, or is it something I can buy somewhere? Also, where do you get those cool small, yet apparently very efficient transformers? What was that firearm that you were shooting at the range? Lastly. YES!! Make a more powerful lightning gun, and I think you should take the advice from many here of including a laser to pre-ioniize a path through the air so that the electrical discharge can be more predictably aimed. Thank you for all of your cool projects! Keep up the fantastic work.

You should build a personal shield to go with the ray gun. If you can build up enough static charge on top of a hat, but just before the point it discharges or arcs, it will repell rainwater. I used to charge up rods in the science lab, and then use them to bend water and goofy stuff like that. If you add cotton or streamers, you know when you have enough charge as they will stand up in the air on their own.

I wonder if the electron beam can be focused to follow a laser beam? The laser can be isolated by using fiber optics to transmit it to the high voltage section. If it works it's kind of like a light saber from star wars.

Version 2 could use a compressed gas and play with firing bursts of coronal plasma, might even be able to get the right setup to shoot beam-like blasts almost like a particle beam cannon of accelerated-charged coronal plasma, might take some finagling with burst timings if you take that route.
