While I think the 2003 Saki was almost the most interesting version of the character (until it turned out there was no Saki), the voice was a bit over the top for me. James Avery, Matthew Yang King, Tohoru Masamune and Brian Tee all worked better vocally, even though they were all given relatively weak or little material to work with. My "ultimate" Shredder milkshake (only using what's been done) would probably be Brian Tee in an exact representation of the original comic costume, with the story from the 2003 series, minus everything after the decapitation. Ch'Rell's backstory would have been better served as a separate character...named Lord Ch'Rell Krang. The obvious way to go with that would be he got sent into extradimensional exile centuries ago and returns by telepathically influencing Stockman to build a technodrome, but I digress...
Scottie Ray's voice For the win, He captures the intensity that Shredder has and his voice legit creeped me out as a kid, I still remember what a beating he gave The Turtles and Especially Leonardo.
Scottie Ray is the definitive Shredder as his character was already seen as menacing but his voice brought the character to life and always gives me goose bumps when I hear his theme! His evil laugh is up there with the likes of Mark Hamill's Joker too!

I love after so many years they actually have real Japanese guys voicing the role. And yea, it actually sounds way better that way just saying. Also Avery was awesome.
You can’t really say that a certain shredder voice is the best one cause the series changed drastically over the course of time. James Avery (R.I.P.) fit the 1987 series out of those actors, Scottie Ray was a beast for 2003, and Kevin Michael Richardson really sold it for 2012. The three of them were the best in their respective eras.
David McCharen Will always be the shredder to me! That voice is impossible to re create!!! I have chills and excitement everytime I hear that voice. If I heard that voice in the dark I would piss myself!
James Avery will always be my favorite & Jim Cummings close as well since he was just doing Avery's Shredder. Also Cummings' Shredder has that underlying menace that a lot of the villains he voices do. Also it was good to see Asians finally getting to play Oroku Saki
Scottie Ray, Kevin Michael Richardson and Matthew Yang King are personally my favorite voices of all the shredders! Also am I the only one who would love to hear Steve Blum and Mark Hamil Voice the Shredder?
@@seankalifut9948 From what I remember, the series finale of TMNT 2012 had 1987 Shredder return and James Avery died a few years ago before then, so Kevin Michael Richardson took over.
2:48 Shredder: So let me see if I understand correctly. All of you were defeated by a single turtle, and an arthraic rat? Foot Soldier #1: But the rat had a stick.... Shredder: A stick?! And what did the turtle have, a pink flower!?
Scottie Ray will always be the dominant shredder he has the perfect voice for the role, hes one reason i will always love the 2003 tmnt show version not only that but the roles for everyone in the 2003 version is practically perfect. im surprised the 2012 version has the highest ratings other than any other tmnt because honestly the 2012 version is by fr the worst. the acting is terrible and animation is to much like clay.
White Owl Okay Mr 90's kid, I was born in 2001 but I watched the 80's series before the 2003 and 2012 and also TMNT 1 and 2! Shredder was a badass and very intimidating! So was Tatsu (I hope Tatsu comes back one day) They were very scary to all the foot soldiers and the teens including the ones that had to fight Shredder in the deleted scene and scared Danny Pennington to death! But the 2003 and 2012 version beat him by miles! The one thing that Shredder really wants to do is kill Splinter! Every single version, Shredder always failed at doing that...... Except the 2012 Series! Shredder stabs Splinter to death in a very shocking way that no one expects! Also not every tmnt fan born before 1993/1994 likes the 90's movies the best! Some of my older cousins born in the 60's and 70's grew up with the original 80's show and movies but like the 2012 version the best and better than all 4 versions combined! They also think that the 2012 Shredder is the most badass!
+DieselDuckFan2001 The only bits of the 2012 series I have seen is what I searched on youtube after watching this. 1990 Shredder was realistic, and had a scary voice that wasn't too over the top. By the way we're comparing an animated series and a live action film. The animated versions' voices are digitally enhanced. There isn't much of a comparison really. We all have opinions :)
Yo, that is one catchy number that started @01:37. Anyways, Uncle Phil (RIP), Scottie Ray, Dorian Harewood, and Jim Cummings were my favorites. All of the Shredders are awesome.
A tie between James Avery and...David McCharen. Well, mostly David McCharen; he's got that haunting growl that seems to replace every villain voice ever heard. Not only that, that monstrous roar he had as the Super Shredder...
James Avery will always be the one and only animation voice of Shredder to me. I do love the performance of the awesome original 90 movie Shredder also.
In the final episode of the 2012 TMNT cartoon, the 1987 Ninja Turtles cross into the 2012 Nickelodeon CGI cartoon's dimension one more time. This time, Shredder and Krang come along for the ride and recruit the 2012 dimension's versions of Bebop and Rocksteady to fight alongside them. 1987 Shredder is voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson in this episode. He does a great impersonation of the late James Avery, too! :)
2003 shredder was and always will be the true badass. His presence is menacing and he really set the bar high. 2012 shredder was close, though he's number 2 in my book
Scottie Ray. Thought, I have to say, Jim Cummings sounds like a perfect replacement to James Avery. It's also funny that he also voices Winnie The Pooh
I grew up with the 87 and 03 series and as much as I find Avery's Shredder a classic, Scottie Ray, imo, has the most fearsome voice among them all. His character became so insane that led to the creation of his one true Shredder persona in Turtles Forever.
Scottie Ray is the best Shredder. James Avery was cool but I grew up with Scottie Ray's Shredder. Scottie Ray really captures the seriousness and evilness of the character and his voice sounds chilling and evil. Scottie Ray is the best in my opinion.
James Avery (1945-2013) and William E. Martin (1945-2016) were both great voices for the classic 1987 Shredder. They both are no longer around. May they rest in peace. The voice actors for 1987 Shredder that are still alive today include Dorian Harewood, Jim Cummings, and Townsend Coleman. At least Load Williams tried to re-create the raspy voice that 1987 Shredder is known for in Turtles Forever.
I am amazed and loving the sheer volume of fans for Scottie Ray as the 2003 Shredder, I don't know how everyone else views each voice actor for their series but for me its not just the actor but the character their voices give life to. '03 shredder just is CHILLING at times when you hear that voice, especially with how calm and cold it gets and the threats are amazing if they aren't the constantly used ones, just great lines. Also one of the best designed Shredder armor's and designs, all utility and menace with nothing superfluous.
1. Scottie Ray 2. Kevin Michael Richardson 3. David McCharen 4. James Avery 5. Dorian Harewood 6. Townsend Coleman 7. Kwasi Songui 8. Jim Cummings 9. Doug Parker 10. Tohoru Masamune 11. Matthew Yang King 12. Load Williams 13. Bill Martin 14. David Wills

eh, not to me. i thought he was decent. now kevin, now that`s the best shredder voice. i actually got chills..
Scottie Ray for the win!!! I was 7 yrs old when TMNT 2003 show came out so Scottie was my childhood lol
I love after so many years they actually have real Japanese guys voicing the role. And yea, it actually sounds way better that way just saying. Also Avery was awesome.
Not really when the 90's live action shredder rules all
3:11 The One True Shredder!!!
Scottie ray is the best of all time and the shredder in2003 is the best of all time...
James Avery and Jim Cummings are probably my favorites. They both have that classic Shredder voice that takes me back to the good old days of TMNT.
My Top 3 Favorite Shredder Voices: James Avery, Scottie Ray, and Kevin Michael Richardson
this
Scottie Ray, Kevin Michael Richardson and Matthew Yang King are personally my favorite voices of all the shredders! Also am I the only one who would love to hear Steve Blum and Mark Hamil Voice the Shredder?
That is brilliant, because if anyone needs a Steve Blum gravelly voice it is the Shredder.
I grew up watching the 2003 series as a kid and to this day it's still the best since it made things far more interesting.
Scottie Ray and Kevin Michael Richardson are definitely the best voices imo.
Close seconds would be Tohoru Masamune and Matthew Yang King.
I'd go with Scottie Ray. He's so menacing.
Scottie Ray and Kevin are my favorite they're the most intimidating and intense
Kevin also did the original 1987 Shredder which also showed his comedic side as well.
@@calvinfujii5921 That was James Avery.
@@seankalifut9948 I meant after James Avery passed away.
@@calvinfujii5921 Kevin showed his comedic side by voicing The Joker. The only Shredder Kevin voiced was the 2012 Shredder.
@@seankalifut9948 From what I remember, the series finale of TMNT 2012 had 1987 Shredder return and James Avery died a few years ago before then, so Kevin Michael Richardson took over.
Have to go with Kevin Michael Richardson, his voice just has the deep tone that i feel is appropriate.
2:48
Shredder: So let me see if I understand correctly. All of you were defeated by a single turtle, and an arthraic rat?
Foot Soldier #1: But the rat had a stick....
Shredder: A stick?! And what did the turtle have, a pink flower!?
2012 Kevin Michael Richardson!!!He is the best!!!
Shredder😈🔱 voice Not Kevin Michael Richardson❌! It's Joe Manganiello💪🏻✔️!
@@Shadow-lb8tf No, it's Kevin Michael Richardson. Check your facts.
Tbh I like the Scott rayow shredder I mean shredders since there are 3 of them
Scottie Ray is the BEST!!!!!
Donnie Yen🇯🇵 voice Oroku Saki/Shredder😈🔱☯️🇯🇵 (TMNT 2003)
Scottie Ray will always be the dominant shredder he has the perfect voice for the role, hes one reason i will always love the 2003 tmnt show version not only that but the roles for everyone in the 2003 version is practically perfect. im surprised the 2012 version has the highest ratings other than any other tmnt because honestly the 2012 version is by fr the worst. the acting is terrible and animation is to much like clay.
+Slick Slasher 2012 is the Best! Most Badass Shredder and Best Acting!
+Slick Slasher No no no, David McCharen all the way.
White Owl 2003 and 2012 all the way!
Captain Vulcan Jim Cummings version just sounds like Pete from A Goofy Movies.
Davon Thompson All of Jim's voices are the same really. But you make a point, he just sounds like Pete haha
A tie between James Avery and...David McCharen. Well, mostly David McCharen; he's got that haunting growl that seems to replace every villain voice ever heard.
Not only that, that monstrous roar he had as the Super Shredder...
McCharen sounds like Darth Vader.
I like that he actually sounds ever so slightly muffled, like Shredder would sound in real life due to the mask covering his mouth.
The Shredder "Tell me where Splinter is and I promise ur demise will be swift." Me: WOW
THIS IS A TALENTED MONTAGE OF THE SHREDDER VOICED BY DIFFERENT ACTORS IMPRESSIVE AND VERY INTERESTING.
James Avery, Kevin Michael Richardson and David McCharen were all pretty amazing as the shredder but Scottie Ray is still the best one.
Prepare to face your destiny and your doom.
no doubt. Scottie ray is the best.
HOW MANY OF YOU AGREE WITH ME
I am amazed and loving the sheer volume of fans for Scottie Ray as the 2003 Shredder, I don't know how everyone else views each voice actor for their series but for me its not just the actor but the character their voices give life to. '03 shredder just is CHILLING at times when you hear that voice, especially with how calm and cold it gets and the threats are amazing if they aren't the constantly used ones, just great lines. Also one of the best designed Shredder armor's and designs, all utility and menace with nothing superfluous.
Scotty Ray and Kevin Michael Richardson are my favorite voices for shredder!!!
The shredder (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003) as The Dark Lord sauron!!
Thank you for excluding the one who played him in Coming Out of Their Shells! >_< (Shiver!)
The late Uncle Phil himself as the Shredder!
Croatian 2003's Shredder deserves a honorable mention. His voice sends chills down my spine!
