What Happens If You Tell Dr. Li That Virgil Became Human Again in Fallout 4?

- Have you ever thought about what would happen if you told Doctor Madison Li that Virgil managed to transform from a super mutant back into a regular human with his serum, given that they were friends at the Institute in Fallout 4? To test this, I sneaked into the abandoned wing of the Institute and took the serum, which I immediately gave to Virgil. Following his advice, I waited a couple of days, then returned to the cave where he awaited me in human form, in high spirits. He handed me a note that I was supposed to deliver to Madison Li, and so I did.

I just realized, I always give him the serum but have never actually visited him afterwards, until now I had never seen human vergil

It's possible the cure serum fixed his eyesight too. After all he says he gained his hair back as well, he was bald before becoming a mutant
I recall him actually saying something about his vision getting worse, though it has been a while since I did that quest.
@@robinsoto2700radiation does not create super mutants, it makes ghouls and corpses. FEV is what makes mutants
Imagine you coulf make syringer ammo with the cure and use it on super mutants, get some funny settlers from that

Now this would be a hell of a mod. Throw in some dialogue for the mutants that ate humans when they revert back and you’ve got a great personal existential horror story on your hands.
Neat idea but wouldn't be that useful since it takes a couple days to work. Unless Virgil makes an insta-cure down the line somehow

Bethesda really just drops a cure for super mutants and the only real acknowledgement is a character going "thats nice," and it never comes back up again. That would be such a massive plotline in any sensible fallout story.
Not really. We know that the cure is on a time limit and that most Super mutant that ever will be turned already are. There’s not much you can do with that story this late in the timeline
This particular cure sample only works with Virgil's blood specifically.
He admits it himself that it would take decades for a general FEV cure to be synthesised.
And yet somehow in this simple plot you failed to realize that this specific serum doesn’t work on other super mutants
Probably not cause this is probably a different strain of FEV made from the Institute

@@lot9898 the serum in game functions over the span of a week, and has no immediate effect. Vergil himself also states that the full effects of the fev haven't gone away, but have been greatly reduced. Between that and the probably advanced resource cost I honestly don't know how that could be implemented as a weapon or game mechanic against the mutants.
@@TheTruepanther it's fallout, they could implement a syringe ammo type which is a hyper aggressive for of the serum that completely eradicates the FEV cells within the super mutant based on the cure vigil created, but since it's such a hyper aggressive weapon it would be interesting if we had the option to hand the cure over to the institute or BOS and they create this new ammo type, seems within character for both factions
My first play through I thought for sure Virgil would be a companion after you cured him

Keep in mind, Virgil states the serum only works on one strain of FEV right now, so it might not even effect Strong.

Why is there no "weponize virgil's serum to end the super mutant menace" plotline?
Obviously it would ultimately not work, with the plot device of "most super mutants are too far gone" as an explanation so super mutants can still be a problem in future games...but that would still have been more interesting than 75% of the quests in FO4
Virgil said that the serum was specifically for him and only worked on him and that it would take many more years of research before they could even attempt to create a general cure

And even so in the glowing sea the radiation is probably your last fear since you have rad scorpions and deathclaws everywhere and takeing in consideration that there is a deathclaw right next to his house, he probably doesn't go out that often so he doesn't have contact with radiation that much.

To describe a relatively modern, Americanized version of a word as the "proper" form is unusual to say the least
If the lone wanderer took over the institute and reformed it with madison Li he couldve cured them all.
I would say no - because each treatment must be specificaly crafted for each person and then only if you had acces to pre mutated DNA - which means those already transofrmed are bonked because they have no access to their pre mutated dna - for them it is too late.

Well no. They make us clear that the FEV Virgil used was a very specific strain it won't work on every other super mutant you would need to make a separate cure for every strain.

The fact that he’s saying he’s “running out of time” means to me he’s talking about losing his mind to the virus and becoming more of a traditional super mutant. So I doubt that this cure would do anything for the mutants we see in the wasteland, maybe make them human but wouldn’t “bring them back”

Everything is basically scarce asf, and even if they mass produced a cure, it's not like most super mutants would want it anyway.

There should have been some minutemen/institute combo ending, institute technology with minutemen morals would have been best for the commonwealth.
That's the reason I always choose the Institute since Shawn left us as the new director we can guide the Institute scientists to be the real best hope for humanity, and the others faction you're just another soldier/spy for them and the minutemen are really weak tbh

What's happening with this
She gets fed up with the ways of the brotherhood and just leaves to go do her own research with the institute. Honestly her attitude sucks and the only thing she's good for is getting Prime going. I kept the serum and killed Virgil my last playthrough, for the Brotherhood!

Y'know I've been wondering about something for a bit now. What would the BOS do with a serum like that? Would they actively go out and cure supermutants or would they hide it and continue killing them.
Was just thinking the same thing. You think they'd find a way to infect their water supply with it or something.
Why waste such a useful tool? They can have their scientists modify into an aerosol and use virtebirds to spray Supermutant camps from the air neutralizing as a threat. Or at least making them easier to deal with. Even if the now human super mutants still attack people they would be no different from ordinary raiders which are easier to kill.
Would probably cause an internal schism within the brotherhood. Those who want to use it. And those who wish to keep things as they are and continue to hoard technology.
I think they'd hide it tbh, just bc danse hated when I cured Virgil, he's was against helping his biggest enemy lol

My game glitched or something and Virgil wouldn't stop attacking me. I assumed he was essential on some level and couldn't die. So I went to knock him down and restart the animation and he ended up dying. I was so pissed off and I didn't have a save to go back to before it messed up on me.
And then nothing else happened. Trust the brother hood… or even better “big brother”
So is it safe to say that the institute has the fev cure?
Virgil mentions he made the serum using his own cells and a specific strain of FEV so we sadly don't know if it would've applied to everyone turned into a mutant. The institute having their own version of FEV is another variable. Would a serum for that strain of virus work say for DC mutants or west coast Mariposa mutants? The kind of fun thing about FEV for story writing is that it's supposed to be a wacky golden age sci-fi virus that is unpredictable and creates everything unimaginable.
I wish i could give this to strong and tell him that "this is the milk of human kindness" lmao

This hits different knowing the lone wanders dad was supposed to beg for death because he was infected with fev.
I see us becoming ghouls, and super mutants in the next game, and having a cure on standby
I not only found a mod that made every named (non-merchant) NPC an available companion, but also found a mod that allows Dr. Li and Virgil to start a romance. (It includes Virgil getting indoctrinated into to brotherhood.)

@@grifhein8756 Yes, I would give you the load order but my game kept crashing whenever I had either one of these on. (It's mostly due to them being incompatible with the other 200+ mods I have)

yes and no, Vergil's serum only works because it and the FEV he used to transform himself were both made with his own DNA, so unless you can get a sample of a Mutants original DNA it wont work on them.

I just did a playthrough where I convinced Madison to go back to the brotherhood but by the time I gave Virgil the serum I destroyed The institute while waiting for him. So after him turning back into human he told me to never visit him again

The serum has a coding of Virgil's DNA. It wouldn't work on Strong (tho if it somehow did it'd turn him into some kind if Virgil human clone thing I guess?)
I had Strong with me when helping Virgil. It angered him with a raging passion.
Every time I play I completely forget about Virgil, blow up the institute then remember like a week later that he exists.
