  • Roofing timber connectors are crucial for securing wooden components in roof structures, enhancing stability and strength. These connectors include nails, screws, brackets, and plates, designed to withstand various loads and stresses. However, they can fail due to factors like improper installation, where connectors are not driven in fully or at incorrect angles. Over time, wood shrinkage, warping, or decay can loosen these connectors. Environmental factors, such as moisture, temperature fluctuations, and wind, also contribute to their degradation. Regular inspections and maintenance are essential to ensure the integrity of roofing timber connectors and prevent structural failures.

Got a bucket of these leftover from my dad's projects. Haven't had any reason to use them for anything tho.

Worked at Joseph Griggs in Gloucester and I used to make trusses all day every day for years on a press putting the plates on. Love the smell of wood in morning 😂😂😂😂

Screw 6mm plywood to both sides of each joint. Not a trivial job but you can concentrate on anything that’s not looking well connected.

Never trusted these these things. Usually just bought perforated plates and screwed them. Also you step barefoot on a perforated plate - it's fine. You step on one of these - profanity ensues.
