Both former Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart) unexpectedly got pushes by winning tournaments (King of the Ring and Brawl for All)…only for those particular pushes to get canceled in the blink of an eye!
James, from my perspective, the main from this PPV between Austin and Taker was, by the overall storyline, the match with the darkest vibe and mood. It might have been the end of the 1st half of The Attitude Era too. Would you support that theory?
I got three questions: 1. What do you think is the best pay-per-view of 1999? 2. Do you think macho man's new look in 1999 would have fitted in with the attitude era? 3.What dream match you wanted to see happen but didn't during the Monday night war?
Billy Gunn goes from winning the KOTR, being a number one contender for the world title in a way, to being relegated into a meaningless (my opinion only) tag team match the next month on this show. Just some more of Vince Russo's whacky booking ideas that went down in 1999. The one thing he did get right was the first blood match between Austin and Undertaker, as those two have always had decent chemistry together.
Three questions for you. 1. Do you think Mike tenant and Jerry Lawler as Commentary could work ? 2. What do you think about the John Cena final year ? 3. Which one of your old videos do you want to redo ?
3 questions, 2 related to the ppv. 1) I'm just curious of your overall thoughts of 1999 WWF programming? For me I remember it being like a toilet seat. Up and down. (I know, weird metaphor, I use it a lot when life fluctuates). Definitely not better than '97 or '98 but when it was good it was fucking great but when it was bad it was the drizzling shits (see Kennel from Hell and "MEAT"). 2) How long should Vince have stayed off TV knowing the stipulation? 2 months seems like nothing for me. 3) Was this or was it around this time Taker decided to take Paul Wight under his wing? I personally forget at the time of this comment since I am now remembering Wight was fairly green up until 2001 and matches like his Kane matches in '99 kinda showed?
1. 1999 was so red hot it didn't matter what they did; it was better than WCW 2. Should have been a few years minimum 3. The next night on Raw is when Taker & Show became The Unholy Alliance; so it was around this time backstage Taker took Show under his wing
I remember this show and being suprised that triple h beat the rock but I should've knew they weren't going to do a rock vs stone cold steve austin match at summerslam and triple h was going into his game phase and main event push.
They were teasing HHH/Austin for a big event as far back as the spring The April 99 WWF Magazine cover had Triple H on the cover with the Austin rattlesnake skull & the headline "Triple H Zeros In On Austin"
5 times; 4 in WWF, 1 in WCW Face on his way out of WCW, Heel when he debuted in WWF, Face at Wrestlemania XV, Heel with The Unholy Alliance, Face after Taker leaves with injury
That whole situation has multiple different stories Austin felt HHH "wasn't ready", Ventura didn't want to raise the hand of a heel in Minnesota(he was Governor at the time), etc.

My favorite B-PPV's are:
01) Backlash 2000
02) No Way Out 2001
03) Fully Loaded 2000
04) No Mercy 1999 (October version)
05) Unforgiven 2000
Gotta love the Wrestling Bios reference you use reviewing the Sensei Steve "Mu-fuggin'" Blackman vs. Ken Shamrock match.
Blackman is a cold as ice...willing to sacrifice
Funny how Austin/Taker world title rivalry pretty much started a year earlier at Fully Loaded 98 now a year later its coming a end
Both former Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart) unexpectedly got pushes by winning tournaments (King of the Ring and Brawl for All)…only for those particular pushes to get canceled in the blink of an eye!
Never thought about that but you’re right
The fact Billy's post-tournament push was more successful says a lot about how bad Bart's post-tournament push was
@@WeAreProWrestling Billy still got the short end of the stick because he never got any significant opportunities to go for the big one.
All because one guy by my name is Billy Bob it doesn't matter his name is
Arguably this was one of Austin's and Undertaker's best blade jobs

Makes sense
Watching this after wrestling with wregrets just dropped kotr 99
I got three questions: 1.
What do you think is the best pay-per-view of 1999? 2.
Do you think macho man's new look in 1999 would have fitted in with the attitude era? 3.What dream match you wanted to see happen but didn't during the Monday night war?
1. Overall in wrestling, Spring Stampede 1999
2. Sure
3. Austin vs. Hogan
This was easily the best PPV of 1999 (for either company)
Spring Stampede, in my opinion, was the best PPV of 1999 for either WWF or WCW
No Mercy (US) for WWF, Spring Stampede for WCW

Three questions for you.
1. Do you think Mike tenant and Jerry Lawler as Commentary could work ?
2. What do you think about the John Cena final year ?
3. Which one of your old videos do you want to redo ?
1. Depends on the situation
2. Could be a big one
3. History of the IC & US Title's; they need to be updated at some point

I Enjoyed Fully Loaded 2000 as it was The 1st WWF PPV I Saw (as it aired for Free on Channel 4 in the UK.)
That was a great show
good video
How many heel and face turns did The Big Show have in 1999 alone?
5 times; 4 in WWF, 1 in WCW
Face on his way out of WCW, Heel when he debuted in WWF, Face at Wrestlemania XV, Heel with The Unholy Alliance, Face after Taker leaves with injury
Would it be fair to consider Austin vs. Undertaker at Fully Loaded the end of the Austin/McMahon rivalry?
Yeah
They may have had interactions since; but the feud between the 2 was over here at Fully Loaded
Do you see any similarities between Triple-H's Game Gimmick(1999-2000) to ECW Shane Douglas's Franchise Gimmick(1997-1999).
At the time no
Now, "The Game" seems like a carbon copy of "The Franchise"
Do you know why Steve Austin refused to lose to Triple H at Summerslam 99?
That whole situation has multiple different stories
Austin felt HHH "wasn't ready", Ventura didn't want to raise the hand of a heel in Minnesota(he was Governor at the time), etc.
I’ve never really bought into that because Austin put Triple H over at No Mercy two months after SummerSlam.
What was the best Austin vs Taker match?
Highway To Hell
Who is the greatest WWE European champion
D'Lo Brown
Best b ppv i don't have one
No favorite B-PPVs(PPVs in between the Big 4/5) in WWF/E history?
