- We're ready to chop the roof on the 1933 Plymouth. The goal is to do a clean chop with the least amount of cuts as possible. We're also going to simplify it by not using a measuring tape - the masking tape will be the measurement 🪚

Shame to loose that shape, seems to me to be great as it was, but his car! Hope it all looks good in the end. From a Sunny England.
It's also a shame that you can't spell lose.
With Terrible Chad his most of his builds are less than desirable, hate to say it but Chad always look completely tired & worn-out..... I hope he's okay but doesn't appear well rested with those big bags under Chad's eyes 😢
Vacation can do wonders !
I watch every night, amazed at how you put your vision to reality without difficulty. I just wonder why people make negative comments when all they have to do is go watch something else. Please just keep doing what you do and know that most of us enjoy what you do. I look forward to this show everyday.
I believe the chop should have been 1 tape width
Not Chad's style.
I think the front is too low, but I didn't watch the entire video, I just did a quick look at the progress and what he had at the end. Thing about custom cars is the guy building it (or the customer paying for it) get to decide. When I worked at Barris Kustom we made what I thought were some really ugly cars. I mentioned that to Jay Orberg one day and he told me "There's an ass for every seat" and that made sense to me because those who were paying us got what they wanted.
@@TheOzarkExplorer yup gonna need a periscope to drive it.
Dolly out the dents on the roof when you have the top off instead of waiting until the top is back on and hard to reach
why ??? that would be to easy.
You always take the dents out first before you cut anything.
I think he said he wasn't going for the clean look? He said he was going to leave the rust look because it would be more work than what it's worth. I could be wrong I thought I heard say that when it was still on the trailer.
@@user-yp8ky8us3s not chad
I have noticed that the subscriber count has slowed somewhat. I have always been excited to see our hometown boys' channel grow. Back just yonder when they were really going at the finishing touches on the brown car, the numbers really grew. I get the feeling that Chad is going through all his junk heaps and bringing them up to a point of...good inventory....i see the benefits to that, and I think it gives him satisfaction. Maybe bringing one of the many in the waiting lane back in for the same finishing touch would put you well on the way to 500k.
The 40 Ford was brought back in.
@lukeandjilljelsma654 only for a flash....I think they need a steady progress session. I watch Diesel Creek...and that's what he does or DD Speed Shop.
Its plain boring. I ZIP through show. Junk remains junk
@@mikehidiroglou9699 Thats why you keep watching. Huh, doesn't
make sense if you think it's junk.
@@josecanyousee56 😀
Great photography and thank you Chad for being a great teacher. I’m at home out in my driveway doing stuff I never would’ve attempted. Had it not been for you.
Chop Chop. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should! 34 Plymouth had good lines to begin with. 😡
I'm pretty sure the sawing motions/Kabuki with the 'sawzall' are actually a disadvantage. Just plant the foot of the saw against the most solid surface at the cut and let the saw do it's work. All tha motion and twisting/bending just breaks blades and messes up the teeth that are trying to get a bite on the pillar.
Wrong type of saw blade?
@@oro_mar6753 That's a Diablo and one of the best in the market.
I don't use the sawzall ofter but I learn that after breaking some blades to rest it against the fence and let the blade do the work. If you don't rest it against the fence the teeth will grab and pull it's hard to control it if you don't
Plus he needs to add a body saw to his arsonal made just for that it's a small hand held saw foe sheet metal.
Leave the damn dents in it.
Hey Chad..keep up the awesome work..blows my mind when I read through some of the comments..so many arm chair quarter backs with negative comments...you are brilliant and proven to be a master..keep it up!!😁😁😁👍👍👍
Jolene you are a very special lady and there is not many that likes to work on cars. God bless you dear and Chad you are a lucky man to have someone as special as Jolene. God bless and have a blessed evening and night
I'm watching every you do during the chop. Your giving me more confidence in attempting to chop a 1934 Chevy truck. I've watched every episode of my Dream Team and now Doug and Nathan have joined your team. Keep up the great content. Hope to meet you both someday
When I was a young man I got to spend a couple years learning under a famous hot rodder! He had plans on how to chop any of the old cars right up to the late 60s! All the measurements were laid out! I kept a complete set that have been such a time saver!
I love your approach to a project or task. No BS, no dickin’ around, just DO IT !!! So many guys anguish over details and over-think jobs to death.
That was a nice clean easy chop Mr. I especially like how you slid the back of the roof down into the rear cowl, if everything is good back there, that can set a lot of parameters and once you set the legal windshield height, the rest is cut n fill. Nice, I like the Way you go after something like that. Spending more time looking at it and making decisions than the time spent cutting it down. I worked on a 35 once that had the cloth roof panel replaced with steel like that one, if I could have gotten a new drip rail to replace the welded one I would have. Was about 86 and things like that were one off made. I ended up making a double length sanding board 😮 so I could get a decent job done on the giant shrink job and some leaf around the perimeter. I would consider replacing that if it's as warbled up as my job was and put the cloth back in. Classy looks. And Who doesn't love suicide doors. What's the minimum for windshield now ? 5". 7". Be cutting down the blades too! Ha! Cool chit buddy, never seen it done that fast and clean before. Good work. 🎉🎉❤
When welded back all the under structure not welded only outsides where its seen never as strong.See the toughness in front posts cant get that back in middle.
Please only do 1 tape width !!!! Too squat if double tape. You don't make salt flat cars.
You don't fool me with words like simple, clean and easy!!
The 33 and 34 allready look chopped from the factory in one ear and out the other do you get chad carl
Hinge pin alignment is critical to this chop.
You must have gone to college to figure that fact out
I have a 34 Plymouth Coupe, they don't need to be chopped at all, the Windshield is barely 9" tall in the middle, they look awesome stock. A Ford yes, but never a Mopar, don't do it, I'll buy it off you stock.
I like a reciprocating saw that is variable speed so it doesn’t burn up the blades. But I will say that I do move mine back-and-forth like Chad does ,slowly so it won’t be wearing on the same six or seven teeth over and over and over. it will split the load up over the length of at least 2/3 of the blade, always being careful not to let the end of the blade come back inside of the pocket and break off.I think it’s going great. I can visualize how it’s going to be
Think most of those comments are from people who have never done it before?
I agree, do whatever it takes to keep from binding!
Finally some one who actually used a reciprocating saw! Jeez some people need a life!
Chad you are the car communities Bob Ross! Jolene and yourself are amazing people! Thank you both for your hard work and dedication to educate and entertain us gear-heads.
Another cool vehicle saved from rotting in a field.Thats why I love this channel, I'm cool with however it continues.
So great to share your knowledge about chopping cars with everyone, you make it look a lot easier than i thought it would be. Awesome video for anyone wanting to give it a go.
I admit that I loved this vehicle greatly standard.!!! But I have to admit that I'm kinda likeing it more after the chop ,Chad this has been my favorite clip so far.. Chad showed us a very detailed and accurate roof chop.. I was surprised with the placement of each cut, But it became apparent this is valuable knowledge ,A skill Chad taught so well. I'm looking forward to seeing the next part.. excellent content Jollieen and Chad That was enjoyable from beginning to end "what a great Peace of knowledge you have sheared today !!!! " Thank you sincerely "👈🤪👍
The Plymouth is going to be a really cool car when it's finished.
Will never br finished
You have inspired me to go for it! I now have a truck thats not going to break now because i went for it. Between you and Making mistakes with Greg , i can now weld. Im am not good at it but im learning an going for it at the same time! thanks Team Hiltz!
Will you make the roof low like every time, or will you replace it with the roof of another car? I prefer that the roof remain as it is originally.
So great to see the process!!! Thanks guys.
Awesome watching you chop that...from South AFRICA
It’s always gratifying when electrics come together! Nice job!
I personally like them chopped. no doubt Chad is going to make it look awesome.
Happy Thursday Bad Chad Nation.
Hey Fellow BIG HEAD BUDDY
i hope its not so low that a person needs a periscope to drive it .
It doesn’t matter how you do it. You do your specialty. Chop, chop, chop. Just can’t leave things be.
Chads living the dream building & chopping hot rods, great job guys cheers
❤I know you and Jolene will make the car look great 👍👍
❤❤❤ FANTASTIC!!! You make it look so easy!
Nice job, keen to see how this turns out! Will be back tomorrow
I love when people don't no how to use a sawzall it's not a hacksaw u don't move it back and forth put the peace your cutting right up to the stop on the saw and let it cut the saw is made to do the work 😂
I know how to use one sort of a master if I may say so myself but sometimes you have to do what you have to do to make the cut. I have done the exact same thing that he's was doing pal. So don't come on here to hate.
@@Aaronlewis8846 lmao not hating at all just find it funny they are not made to be used that way and then people wonder why it won't cut like it should I have mush respect for Chad and what he does he does great work and support what he does and watch all the time it was no disrespect to him by no means just maybe a little education to him if we was to read this is all
@mikesautomaintenance5780 well I'm glad you're not hating. But sometimes in situations you may have to do something like that just to get the blade to work again. Done it many times. Now if he was doing that with out pulling the trigger on the saw saw I'd be cracking the hell up and yelling at the screen at the same time. Lol
Just do it your way
I found that if you stay up against the stop like you’re saying, you’re only wearing on one part of a longer blade that has a lot of good teeth farther out that aren’t getting use so I kind of moved back-and-forth a little bit, but still hold a good firm grip on it so I’m not losing my cutting strength but in some instances you have to be against the stop. it’s all in whatever predicament you’re in at the time
Chad chops, modifies, and welds! If you want to see more body work and paint, subscribe to a channel that does just that. Let the man create!!!
Well if that's what you want check out Rat Rods For Africa
@michaelnieman6218 he's been in the hospital over stomach surgery
@@SteveOverman-ou3my I know I watch him all the time Ian Roussell turned me onto him
Great job folks
Sometimes Chad will take a restorable, nearly complete beautiful classic car and chop it up. It's difficult to watch and i wouldn't do it yet he often has great results. In this case it's a bare shell with tons of potential. I say go for it. It's going to be great.
The old guys from Haslet Texas are throwing sparks and watching your show. First thing we turn on after the lights. Love the way you guys explain everything. Only one complaint, we want to see more Jolene face time!!! lol
Keep up the good work and if you ever find yourself in the great state of Texas you and the family are always welcome here.
I,m telling you its going to have that rake on the top like the little yellow 32 COUPE in AMERICAN GRAFFITI John Milnar drove sweet CHOP BADCHAD SWEET JOLENE FINA CHAD YOUR BAD
you make it so easy love the work
Nice seeing you using cordless tools, much more convenient 👍
Dude, you're both talented, you chop tops, and Jolene is a great camera operator. You visualize the final design, and jolene has smooth transitions and changes with camea angles ! What a great team !!

A daily must, see what Chad progress put life in his vision..
It would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing! Rock on, Chad!
Excellent work
Not a fan at chopping up this one, but honestly, I also secretly can't wait to see the awesome results!!!
Thats a cool idea it works
I hated to see that body chopped, but it's your car and apparently the chopped look is the only look Chad likes.
Great video!! Thanks for sharing!!
Nice work team!
Fabulous job on the chop 😎🍀
Awesome, Thanks
Haircut Time 👍 Go for it Chad 👁 🐅 👌
It's always nice and very interesting to see you cutting a roof off a car. ✂
It looks really simple, clean and easy. ✅
Great work guys 😎👍
Looks good! 👍
Looks awesome
Looks cool!
Great job Jolene.
Wow that was really the cleanest roof chop. Love the look of the drastic slam in the front. Always doing amazing work. Chad your an artist
That back window will be essentially non functional after you cut it! 😢
And you are off to a great start.
You’re an absolute master with a cut off wheel! I love to hear you think things through out loud.I ALWAYS learn something watching you. Keep up the good work and keep the quality videos coming.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Can't wait to see this. Very nice chop.
cool vid, always a super fun watch!
Joline has bigger muscles than Doug, that's for sure !!
Hi chad looking amazing love the chop already 😍 just looks amazing . I hope you paint this one . Any color. Don't let it in this patina please 🙏 thanks for your videos and for sharing your experience. From SAN DIEGO CALIFORNIA have a nice DAY✌️
Great creative vision.
Wow ! I have not watched in a while . I really like the shop improvements .
We certainly learned how not to chop a roof
Or we learned the hard way to Chop a roof. You certainly learn how to make a lot more work for ourselves. Chad does some cool stuff but he sure makes way more work for himself than he needs to. Motto we get it right because we do it twice.
Bad move on a 33 or 34 ply
Carl
Chad you are the Master grinder guy so steady very impressed
Awesome 👍can’t wait to see it come together
Awesome!!! love it, I will apply this to my 39 chevy pick up thank you and hats off for Joline"
Nice and simple!
The front windscreen looks cool, but in my opinion, it will be hard to drive any length of time due to visibility.
It'll look good at the drags, though!
Looks awesome bad Chad !!
Whatever has happened in Chad’s past (is relevant) has lead to his significant success over the past 2 decades. Jolene and he have created the most unique car related show on the internet.
Full Custom Ian, Vice Grip Garage, Caseys Customs, there's many custom car builds from junk on TH-cam, so many I've lost count, now back to work on my own 38 Ford Deluxe

Easy now....easy now
Nice work in the short time you had 👍
Must be a chopping week ..Bellos kustoms on TH-cam is chopping as well
No disrespect to Bad Chad, but Mike Bello seems to have an arsenal of tools and equipment to get the job done efficiently.
Jolene is a power house when need to be and cool it's starting to look better chopped
That’s very rad. Cool stuff
Looking good!
I love the way the tiny front window looks. That looks sweet
Chad, that was super awesome. looking forward to seeing it completed.

Great video today. I enjoyed how you explained it and how you cut it. Well done Jolene and Chad.

The back is perfect but I would bring the front up closer to the rear, that is to much of a rake. Looking cool though 😎
Chopper style chop chop chop 🕺
