Always a new project with the MGB......
But that’s the fun part of owning one !

Thanks for the comment. I have learned so much about these cars from research, viewers and other youtube channels. It is certainly great to have all these resources.

thanks -most useful - I hauled our '67 BGT (bought new) out of the tall grass when the snow left. First got the wire wheels off, then got the engine running (120 psi) and now for clutch and brake. I just finished honing the clutch master but cannot get the slave piston out. tapped it in a couple of mm so it is not seized but air will not move it out. grease gun next. I hope to get by with rebuild kits. Engine, clutch and brake and then a licence and drive it around a bit. It is pretty rusty and the interior is shot. looking forward to part 2. John in Manitoba.

Thanks John. Have fun when you get to the driving part. How long has it been in the tall grass?

@@mgbsandotherstuff2982 I'm embarrassed to say it was last on the road in 1986. The brake master still seems to have life so I am going to hook it to the clutch slave to see if a strong push on the pedal will free it. Worst case is I blow aged seals or the flexible hose. All of which will be replaced eventually. I also have an early TR2 also bought in 1967 which last ran around '86 but at least it has been inside for most of the time. Kids came along and we parked the 2 seaters.

Not very many TR 2’s around, very cool.

@@mgbsandotherstuff2982 A strong push on the brake pedal got the clutch slave moving out. Onward and upward. The TR2 is serial 394 so is before any factory mods came along. I knew of 2 other sub-500 serial number in Saskatoon at the time. Can't figure out why so many early cars came there. All LHD with overdrive.

Very, very cool. I’m always surprised how many British cars were exported. There was about 101000 MGAs built and only about 5800 sold in Britain.

    Hi,
Good to see you back. Necessary and ambitious projects. Metal caps are original, lucky you.
I have a half dozen of both the original brake master and clutch master cylinders as well as clutch slave cylinders.
I queried Moss about the repair kits. Lses than enlightening.
I am about to overhaul all of this for a pittance compared to the replacement prices for the copies and or replacements.
In earlier communications I may have mentioned that, I too, have a dash that has been painted the body color rather than the crinkle black.
Currently I am having transmission issues and should be back on the road in a couple weeks.
I think I mention that I had sold my 1964 March Iris Blue two years ago and replaced it with a 63 Red B. I sorely miss my Iris Miss.

Hi Jeff, nice to hear from you as well. Thanks for the comments. Now that I'm retired it seems that I'm busier than ever with a dozen or so half finished jobs. I start one and get distracted and start another and poor Iris gets neglected. Getting caught up now though and will get back to my evening drives and some longer day trips. Hopefully with a break from mechanical issues.

Hey. I thought you would free Iris from her den and off you would go on the first sunny day. Obviously I know very little about the dear old ladies needs. Happy birthday to both you and Iris. I await the first drive about and the ‘ other stuff’ you enjoy and share while on the road. Good luck with all your projects

Hi there, enjoyed your vid on brake and clutch cylinders i recently purchased new cylinders for my C rather than refurbish the existing ones as their was evidence of at least one of them leaking prior to purchasing the car so they've probably already been overhauled. I've not fitted them yet but hope to attack the task soon. Ive owned several Bs and BGTs but cannot recall what the cylinders colours where

Thanks for the comment, I'm not sure either, I've seen them painted up like "eye candy" but mostly see them in a flat grey colour. I've decided to strip them down to bare metal (galvanized I think) and leave them be.
