I want you guys to talk to RYAN *Lee FROM CHIMERA *Genetics! He's a done post graduate level studying in plant genetics, is at least a second generation grower. and talks a LOT about what it takes to dial in on traits and the work required to make IBLs that we can then use as building blocks. Also talks about how messed up our gene pool is with the way "breeders" have been doing it for generations now. I say it like this because releasing all these one-off crosses has actually hurts us more than people expect.
The guy u need for breeding is Caleb of CSI Humboldt he has been doing preservation and crosses of old stuf like mendo purps chem d chem91 bubba kush Christmas tree bud purple urkle as well as newer crosses and he is a 3rd generation grower.
Great Vid Fellas, your willingness to highlight your own trials and tribulations helps us common folks a ton. As always I appreciate your dedication to spreading the knowledge. Stay Baked!
Hey fam. I made my own kind. Few of them. Its the funnest thing about growing is making your own kind and keep working with it. With a purpose. It so cool to see the offspring and what plants get what traits. Its cool. Love yall
I agree with releasing f1's, I love the pick and mix style of hunting you get a much more varied selection to choose from which can really enhance the joy of finding a keeper. Not to mention there's a higher chance of finding a unicorn
Alot of dope knowledge packed into this episode on breeding, super respect how knowledgeable and joyful Mr Grow it is talking about the breeding process. Rasta Jeff has amazing podcasts on breeding and using colloidal silver for Bx's, you have to be quite aggressive, using the silver every 3/4 days during flowering and alot of the time if you dont cover the entire plant the herming wont happen, Rasta Jeff from "from the heart podcast" would be an amazing guest to talk to about breeding!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I popped some.bag seeds that are so fire that i need to keep it around making an IBL and possibly cross into smthng else i like. I aspire to become a breeder and learn everything about it. You guys are legends and such an inspiration to me. Stay blazed 🥦
From the Stash a huge dose of knowledge. I am on the same journey! Selection, FAFO, Trial and Error little mix of every emotion possible and new beans are made. Regular Sex F1'S Matter Too! Dudes a pack of reg seeds starts the never ending quest! #MakingFemsRegAgain Breeding can be done many ways and on many scales. Thanks for an awesome show
You can also spray males with ethylene (Ethephon) to get them to "reverse" but not for seeds, but for resin production and then you'll get a representation of that males terp profile.
Hell yeah I’ve made 13 crosses with it and planning on Creating my Vandal OG by crossing my Chill Out OG F3 Stud to Robinhoods Frozen OG plus others in two months. I breed more during winter cuz I can exhaust the pollen outdoors into the snow. I’m also going to either backcross my F4 or create F5s at the same time of my Chill Out OG sister line work
Good content as always Guy's, you are all my motivation for growing and passion for learning how to grow was sparked by all of you in the cannabis community!.
My input on making your own line keep working your lines dont just make a first batch and call it good all the hidden traits are found once you get a few breedings in some do great right away if your lucky
I have tried to cook my own colloidal silver by sending an electric charge through 2 pieces of silver in distilled water , never ended up using it on my plants UT it was a learning experience... some things are better bought than home made home sourced
One secret is dont just make one cross and expect it to be what you want. Make multiple crosses like 1 male to half a dozen females atleast then hunt those crosses, some pairings work better than others, and also you get a better view of what influences the male or pollen donor carries. And more chance of making something good with more possibilities from more crosses, saves time too
Good point fletcher from archive said it well, if you have a few plants you will gravitate to what is the best but it might not be that great, thats why he does over 100 so he can really eliminate weaker and undesirable genetics. Now with limited space thats tougher, but I still agree with that point, variety is key to figuring out what you are into
Multiple males since their traits are harder to know. Give the moms hella baby daddies and pick the best babies. Always have at least 3 dads. Danny, uncle Jesse, uncle Joey. DJ and Stephanie grew up fine. Michelle idk.
@Paulenchucker nah I'd rather 1 male and observe the traits he passes on to the multiple females, it's not hard to pick a good male from a line you've grown plenty of, If you use multiple males you don't know which male contributes what to the cross. But individually works well Best to use for example male A cross to all females Then male b cross to all females on a separate run. Then the better male contributor can be identified and used again in future
@BrotherRyan Fletch is the man, I get a lot of knowledge and inspiration from him. I actually have a cross I made with his moonboots x to an Island G male from ONI seed co I'm yet to pop. Made multiple f2 versions of the island G and multiple outcrosses that run. I have limited space myself so usually pop 10 seeds each time to hunt new stuff, and keep the best half dozen cuts in rotation.
@@Theyarealreadyhere Sweet sounds like youre on the right path doing cool stuff with good genetics, and making the most of the space you have access too! Cheers

So far 3 big ones from EU tested with All having herms, in regs as well! Not only but a lot! Next will be one of DNA Genetics... That "Generation X18" sounds pretty nice to me...low yield but hey if it hit i am fine... This is a cross of Banana Stardawg and X18 pure Pakistani... I am vaping on some "Red Banana Berry" right now, great effect, great Terp, good yield, but yes that b.tch hermed out! Anyway as good as this is i am maybe come back to it to find a stable one... Great show guys! Growers love 💚
Im growing the magic candy mountain OG now. Man it looks and smells so good. Im in week 8 of flower. I did find a few nanners at the bottom of one plant but that branch was right beside the fan so maybe thats what caused it. Either way it wiuldnt hurt my feelings at all if i got a few beans from it. Ill compare them to the rest of the mcmOG beans i still have left
Haha tried to buy some stash blend, but couldn't order it from Germany...😢 Guess I try greenhouse feeding than😅😢 nonetheless good episode Like usual 👍🏼
Rob when working with fem pollen you narrow down the available traits because you're losing half of the gene pool by not including the male. That's likely why you found your R1s were closer to genetic copies appose to having a large selection of phenotypic variability
Hello and great show. My question is will the terpene profile or anything else change when growing a strain that originated from cold climate say a high of 72 degrees f and you grow it in 83 degrees? I've been growing in a warm climate of 83f and I'm thinking about growing these landraces in there naturally colder climates.
This was a legitimate question. Thought it might bring good feedback but that’s ok. I’ll ask around and probably just create a colder climate and find out. Thanks for the advice.
People are mostly doing a single cross for a true breeder like myself we know thats not breeding and its also not ur own work. I have been breeding for 7yrs and have only put out testers to see how they grow in other climates and grow strategies. A big thing that took alot of time is finding a line that allows the female u use to be dominant every time. Also you can lock down traits easier.
About 30 minutes into the video you was talking about reversing or selfing a plant those are kind of two different things so when you reverse a plant, you wanna take that pollen and put it on a different female of the same phenotype that will be a feminized stable seed. if that pollen gets on the same plants that it came from you then have hermaphroditic prone plant. At that point it is self Ing and you will have to weed out the undesirable traits. That’s from my understanding.
self pollination, or chemically inducing a herm, is still a herm technically- yes thats how u make fems, but you're still chemically inducing your plant to herm in order to create feminized pollen. I know its not the same in terms of how they come about - but even when a plant herms on its own it does that for the plant to pollinate it self without a male being present - same thing ur doing but you're chemically inducing it.
In our field there are almost no real breeders. everyone just does something. This is due to insufficient training and the war on drugs. if cannabis were treated like food crops. Only then would there be real breeders.
I don’t understand why people think pollinating cannabis is hard. Find a plant you like and throw some pollen at it from a male you choose or just buy some pollen😂🤣😂🤣it doesn’t warrant a 45 minute discussion

If ur fem plant produces some seeds, say 10-15, would it be likely those seeds will be herms?
yes those seeds are more likely to carry the tendency to herm
