Interesting idea for sure! I saw a lot of plant stand made with 1 1/2'' and they aren't as stable as this one! Nice build 🙂 You're so close to 5k subs!!! Thanks Mat, always fun to watch your videos 😁
I've actually tried making some variation of that with 2x2s in the past, and yep, wasnt great! 4000s sure flew by way faster than 3000s! To 10k soon! Thanks for being there!
I made a small desktop version before, it was all end grain 4x4 shelves and was so ugly, I just threw it in the trash haha! Some day I'd love to revisit that but make it nice and properly scaled, good idea! Good luck with the bigger build
Unless I’m mistaken he used the speed square which is 45 degrees, but as long as the angles are equal but opposite I would think almost any angle, within reason, should work.
All the angle cuts were 45 degrees, I didn't really mesure the lengths, just one about 1.3x the other one for the effect. I used to make those from already 45 degree offcuts I had from another project so that's how that angle stuck.
It looks good but I have to ask, what is it exactly? I have like 30 cut offs from a deck and ramp build that were given to me and I'm looking for a project to use them in. This looks perfect, also how much do you charge for them. I know the market is different for other areas but it will give me a starting point. Thank you for anything you can tell me.😁
It's a plant stand, it does look weird haha! I started making it with offcuts that were already 45 on one side then eventually made it a product! first i've made in 2 years or more, brings me back! thanks for watching
@Mat_Builds I was thinking that's what it was but wasn't sure, thank you. How much did you sell them for? I'm not too great with pricing yet, I'm thinking of starting out at $40. Does that seem too high?
I’ve been posting those for 50 when I made some slightly smaller ones with non rounded shelves. I’m going to sell those this coming weekend (I post on fridays usually) and I’m thinking 60! (Canadian). They cost me about 5$ from the 2x8 parts and paint etc.
@@Mat_Builds ok, thank you so much! I've been doing woodworking for about a year and a half but the pricing is the hardest part for me. I'm trying to turn it into like a small business to help me and my family. I also watch a lot of TH-cam videos to help with ideas. I plan to eventually be on TH-cam as well, showing people how to do stuff like this. Thanks again and I hope it goes great for you! Stay safe and have fun 💯😁
Thank you for the ideas! Your channel will grow!
Thanks for the encouraging words!
Good job and project there you go again people are going to start making them everywhere Keep up the good work and making sawdust
I've already got many of those out in the wild from 2 years ago, time to add some more!
Great weekend project and a great finished product , thank you for sharing
Thanks!
I like this I get a bunch of 4x4 cut offs thanks for the idea
Thanks for watching! That’s how this idea became, using up a bunch of 4x4 45 degree off cuts I had around “just in case”
Awesome job. That’s a cool build.
Thanks!

Okay I might have to steal this, I did make some miniature versions of it. Nice job Mat!

For the 4x4. Set up a stop block and just rotate the 4x4 for each cut. Easier, quicker and they will all the the same length.
Nice build!
Thanks! I built so many of those before I started my youtube, in my early scrap wood finding days
Could you please tell me what angle you cut for the shelves ty

Où trouves-tu des 4x4 gratuits?
Compagnies de toitures ont des palettes immenses en bois dur / 2x8 / 4x4, etc
Please define 100 s?
I sell those 50-60 (more in summer), and sell as many as I can make.
What is it?
It's a branched plant stand, thanks for watching!
Terrible that so many ppl have to ask “What is it?” I thought it was a cat stand or a multi-tiered bird feeder.
Why not both?
I stead of changing your cut mark every time. Just flip the board 180.
If I had a stop block for them I was definitely doing that. Mostly did that to follow the tracings from the video but you're right. Thanks!
