I noticed you have a KitchenAid mixer in the background. When I grate my soap, I use the grater attachment that I have for my mixer that I used to chop up carrots and hash browns. It works perfect on the soap.
Back in the ‘70’s, that is how we ground our coffee beans. In canning jars using the blender. None of my current blenders will fit the jars now though but I do keep a blender in the laundry room and simply leave the blitzed soap in it and scoop it out. When it get almost to the bottom I add some water and blitz it again to stir and pour off into the next couple loads. Cheap blenders work fine for that. They get messed up so when they stop working it’s no loss. The big batches are slimy and trail leaving a mess wherever you use it. This is much nicer to use.
Ooh I’ve made the five gallon bucket recipe a few times but this version looks like so much fun! Definitely going to try this today! Thanks for sharing 🙌🏾🥰
I've used this laundry creamy soap for about five years. I LOVE it! When my laundry (towels mostly) get really smelly, I do still add some liquid laundry soap I buy, but this is very effective just on it's own. Sometimes I miss the smell of the fabric softeners so I buy the store brands and add about three times the weight of the total bottle in water to the softener and it gives it a very faint smell to the clothes. I NEVER use it full strength because I've gotten used to the natural stuff and the fabric softener just smells way too strong. I also don't have a big blender, I have a small mini smoothie kind, but it works just as well in small batches. I live in a tiny home and have to be very picky about what small appliances we keep! Thank you for this video! The recipe is super simple and saves big money in the long run! 🥰
This is a terrific recipe, it turned out great, thank you. I even have a small hand turn grater 《Walmart, apx $17-$19) that grates the soap in a hurry. Thank you for the whipped idea, my Osterizer blender is the same one you use. And that idea of using it to whip the soap right in the jar is genius.
I was very excited to try this. I did, results wasn't as easy as expected. I believe the conditions in my kitchen would have warranted a shorter wait time than 4 hours. My blender would only whip the closest to the blades. My kitchen aid mixer with the wire whisk finished the job. a little messy but will try it again at another time. I also think the smaller shredder on my tool might work better as well. All in all very excited to find you. Thanks!
I made this recipe today. I was so eager to wash my clothes. It washes nicely in an he machine however no suds which is fine but my clothes didn’t come out smelling of anything and were ok clean but could be cleaner. I am going to increase the heaping table spoon to 2 as my He front loader is very large and likely takes about 2 loads. I normally wash in cold but I decided warm would help the whip go down the slot better into the machine, I checked it a few times just to make sure and it went down. My sons girlfriend was freaked out when I said I made the laundry liquid as she didn’t want her designer clothes washed in it,,,,,well I washed her name brand clothes and it was fine, no damage😌. I added unstoppable to the second scoop of whip no issues
I'm so happy you that made the recipe. On a front load washer, just put your detergent right in on top of your clothes not through the dispenser on top. It's so thick it could clog up. On a top load washer, start your water put the detergent in then clothes. I hope this helps to get a better result. Again, I'm so happy you made it. I LOVE this stuff.
I add a large bottle of Dawn dishwashing liquid for Xtra grease cutting insurance, I've added 2 bottles of gain smell boosters but it didn't increase smell at all and it's too expensive to add more, so I bought a 3 pack of essential oils at Walmart and it's making it smell pretty good but it simply won't be strong as the store bought brands, they will give your entire house a fresh smell! The best thing to do is mix a. Large jug of Gain detergent to you're recipe and make a super batch which will last well over a year, and will smell great, you'll spend about 35$ but it's worth it cause you'll make so much of it and you can put plenty of it per load
Just wanted to say that I will be making the detergent! I think you have a great channel. I found you by way of Pratt Family Homestead. Great job! Thanks!
Ooooh! Cheese! 😂😂😂😂 I love that greater. I have never seen one like that. Where did you get it? I also didn’t know that you could attach ball jars to a blender like that. That makes things easy. My blender is different though, I have a ninja blender. I wonder if I could with the detergent using my KitchenAid with the whisk attachment?
Not a Farm Girl: a Homestead Adventure. Actually I picked up the grater at a garage sale this summer and knew if would be perfect for this. I've used the others for a long time and no matter how slow I go, I made a huge mess, lol. I looked at it and it's from IKEA, go figure lol. It's funny that you said that about your blender, because I was killing my old one so I too went and bought a NINJA and was so excited until I realized that it wouldn't work because of the base being different. But, I still have lots of great uses for my Ninja and I just picked up a cheaper regular blender at a different garage sale. Gotta love garage sales and thrift stores 😊😊. Uh. I don't know how well ivory would work. I know you can grind up zote soap and use it. For one batch (2 jars) it may be worth it for you to try using Ivory. Experimenting is how great things are created, so I'd say give it a shot and see how it works. Let me know if you do. I'm curious. Thanks for watching.
Robin, I have been told you can use any Bar of soap of your choice. Fels Naptha, ZOTE (they have 2 different bars), castile, homemade bars. Best of experiences.
The glass jars that I used were quart size Ball canning jars. You can only use these jars with blenders that the blade portion detaches or unscrews from the blender pitcher. Thank you for watching 😁
I went shopping for super washing soda no store had it even the ones I have bought it at no store had zote soap. Seam it's getting hard to come by. Been making this for 15 yrs. But on line they only let u buy 2 bars . Why?
Take baking soda and spread evenly on a parchment-lined cookie sheet. Bake at 400 deg. in your oven for 1 hour and Voila! Washing soda. The baking soda goes from a tight, clumpy powder to a more crystalline structure. All washing soda is is super-heated baking soda. Learned that from Soaping 101’s TH-cam channel.
You should be able to buy that stuff if you live in the US I know other places have a different brand its not arm and hammer, and there are a few different soap bars out there, but I you can use other soap as well.
@Tina Price I think she was having issues purchasing it; due to the factors there has been such an issue with getting supplies into stores. So, in turn, some companies are putting a limit on things that you order online.
Prayerfully, you are not having that problem anymore. Went through the same issue. The places where you could order it online were limiting everyone due to the fact they didn't want anybody to hoard/resell at a higher price. Like saw them did with the toilet paper.

Yes it can, I made mine with zote soap. Love the pink zote. I’ve been making this recipe for years
@@Rae-lh7ex My question is,, can you use Zote FLAKES?
Yes, I'd just weigh out the same ounces that are in a bar. Should work just fine.
I’m allergic to Fels-Naptha. Could I use Ivory soak?
Hello: Could you tell what brand and model is your blender?
My blender is a Osterizer 10-Speed. I got it for a few bucks at a garage sale specifically for this just in case I burnt it up, lol.
where do you get those glass jars that fix the blender? Can you attach to any type of blender?
The glass jars that I used were quart size Ball canning jars. You can only use these jars with blenders that the blade portion detaches or unscrews from the blender pitcher. Thank you for watching 😁
Great video. But how clean does it get the clothes?
Thank you. It does a great job getting darks clean and lights brighter.
This laundry soap is great! Takes the stink out of bath towels.
I'm so glad you've tried it and that it works as well for you as it does me.
How much soap? We don't have your brands!
seashorecanadian The alternative for Fels Naptha in Canada would be Sunlight bar soap. Has the same ingredients. I hope this helps. 😀
Seashorecanadian,
Use the bar of soap of your choice.
What about bar Ivory soap?. Anyone ever try that?
I think it would work bc I've seen Heidi on Rain Country use it (I think it was her)
You could use any soap.
Can you add oxy clean to this recipe?
No you should not. It decomposes and will not retain bleaching capacity.
Oops- forgot to add the water!
Uh oh. Did you have to start over? I hope it turned out for you in the long run.
Everything here is totally identical in every way to the Laundry Sauce by Liss on Budget101 website from back in 2012. It’s always good to give credit to the OG.
Really? That's great. I've never seen that website, but thank you for letting me know and if I would have gotten from there I would have given credit like I do in all of my videos, in which I do call outs, web links, etc.
Has anyone one ever used purex crystals in the soap
Yes but it won't make a difference, it's too expensive, but you can use scented espen salt it's real cheap
This is a copy of Valerie Collins recipe th-cam.com/video/MxZRdq3_wo4/w-d-xo.html
If you dump the solids in all at once it will blurp out all over the stove, making for a more entertaining video!
