  • We disassemble and reassemble an Edwards RV3 vacuum pump that has developed an oil leak at the shaft seals. This video covers replacing the inner and outer shaft seals as well as the seal carrier gasket and the oil reservoir seal.
    Parts:
    Shaft Seals (02109094 & 02109124)
    Oil Reservoir Seal (A27160005)
Seal Carrier Gasket [incorrectly called the cartridge seal in the video] : (A27160008)
    Tools:
    A metric hex (allen) set.
A flathead screwdriver or other prying tool.
An impact driver with metric hex bits is strongly suggested.
Total project time is 45 minutes. Video has been shortened to 33 minutes.

Easy to follow while I worked on a pump today! Great job

Gave me the confidence to attempt this on an RV8 for my Lab, its part of a freeze drier and runs continuous for 4 days stretches at a time. Was leaking from the front seal.
It was pretty easy said and done. The manual is not very helpful.
The front and rear shaft seals look the same, but they are NOT same size exactly, something that you need to pay extra close attention to. At least for my RV8.

    Audio is useless.

Yep. It turns out my lab is too noisy to record decent audio. I've been thinking about making a better version but haven't found the time.
