For me, everything about this movie was solid except for the villain. Yokai is one of Disney's worst villains simply because he feels like he came out of nowhere. His identity reveal was shocking, yes, but only because it didn't make any sense. There was no indication that Callahan was even remotely evil, and we don't learn his motivation until much after his reveal. His characterization is pretty weak and came out much later than it should've. He was just a part of Disney's growing trend of having twist villains. Plus his plan for revenge on Krei was pretty crap. Had they established Callahan had lost his daughter and has a history & beef with Krei before the moment Callahan "died", Yokai could've been given much more depth. It would also futher complement Yokai as being a dark reflection of Hiro. Where both of them suffered tremendous loss, Callahan was never able to move on, while Hiro chose to let go of his need for revenge. Still a really good movie. But with a few changes, it could've been perfect. BUT from a design standpoint, Yokai is pretty badass visually.

If they're just giving out sequels to movies that don't need them (I'm looking at you, Moana 2), they should give Big Hero 6 a sequel. While it doesn't NEED one, it can certainly be added onto really easily. They don't need to find an awkward way to continue the story, they're superheroes, just give them a compelling villain, maybe focus on other members of the team instead of Hiro this time, then BOOM you got your story.
The main problem would be that they would either have to make it take place after the series, which I guarantee will confuse a lot of people who haven't seen it, or they will have to make the series non canon. Both of which I don't want to happen
I watched this movie when i was younger and i loved it so much, and i still do to this day. I also found the animated series, and i also liked it. Big Hero 6 is AMAZING🎉
This has always been my favorite film from the revival era. I just loved it! Saw it when it first came out. This was basically MY Frozen! Whereas Frozen was about 2 sisters, this film features 2 brothers. And if I’m choosing between those 2, it’s this one.

I never really liked the recently done sequels like Wreck it Ralph 2, Frozen 2, I think that Zootopia 2 and Moana 2 are going to be ok, I think. But if there’s one movie that deserves a sequel, it’s this one. It blew minds away, with the reviews and the box office. Fall Out Boy is always a huge win in my book. The fact that all we got that resembles a sequel is a Baymax spin off show. That’s just sad. 😔 😔❤️
@@foxpokemonforever4775 Oh yeah, the series was pretty good, I almost forgot about it, the whole villain arc with Obake, he had so much potential to be the sequel’s big villain, I guess that they couldn’t fit his story into one movie, though. As long as we don’t count the third season.
What I really love about this film, is that it covers a topic that Disney has used since Bambi, but outside Lion King, doesn't actually discuss. That is the Disney Death. Big Hero 6 is the only Disney Animated film that tackles the Grieving Process, the film shows its ok to seek help, its ok to just cry, to be mad, to move on. To this day, the scene where Baymax shows Hiro the Tadashi clips, is one of the most emotional scenes in any Disney film
This is, in my opinion, my _favorite_ animated movie by Disney from the early 2010s. 😁. The story, the characters, the twists and turns, the plot elements, the sci-fi/superhero Marvel-esque elements...I just absolutely _LOVE_ it!!! 😁.
Why do i feel like big hero 6 is not a hidden gem and actually still falls flat on my expectations every time i give it another shot. Stuff falls apart with the villain being just dumb "that was his mistake" callahan uuuugggghhhh
4:44 That scene where Baymax goes into fighting mode I felt like that soundtrack was isn't telling us oh cool action scene it was telling us Hero's inner turmoil where he feels the need to avenge his brother and he's hatred the guy it's telling use this is not good. and I love it
Big Hero 6 is easily the most underrated Disney movie released in my lifetime. It's not the greatest mind you, but it is a strongly told, well acted, beautifully visualized and emotional story. If you really want to give Big Hero 6 the attention it deserves, might i recommend doing videos for both animated series? Big Hero 6: The Series released in November of 2016 and ended in February 2021 after three (more like two and a half seasons) while Baymax! is a Disney+ original released in 2022. I never hear anyone talking about either and both are on Disney+ if you have a subscription.
I really like this movie but there were a few scenes that I found really sad the most notable one is the death of Tedashii that one impacted me really hard because the brotherly relationship that hero and Tadashi had was so incredibly sweet❤❤❤❤❤
Okay with this movie, it is my absolute favorite movie, I have this one memorized in my head. My family and I watched it twice in theaters and my favorite memories with my cousin was watching it on repeat with him while playing with our baymax toys. I love this movie to pieces!!❤❤❤
I feel like there's a bunch of good points about why the movie wasn't as great as originally thought. The side characters Fred, Gogo, Wasabi, and Honey Lemon were underdeveloped and utilized. So many unanswered questions about them and their relationship to Tadashi. Like why is Fred so goofy despite growing up in a rich and strict environment? Why is Gogo so snarky and serious? Honey Lemon cheerful and quirky? Wasabi so OCD? And where did the nicknames come from? What are their real names? How did they become friends? Also, that twist of who the villian is was horribly executed. Callaghan could have been a tragic hero who we could root for if he wasn't so destroy Krei at any cost. Also, they were overreaching, making this a superhero story about the six of them. It could have worked if the movie started as a detective story, like Hiro and Baymax were like Sherlock and Watson, maybe suit up to stop Callaghan, and then a sequel could reintroduce the other characters to become heroes along with those two. It could let us really appreciate the bond between Hiro and Baymax, and then let us see how Tadashi impacted the others and became close to Hiro in their own ways. Thoughts?
I agree about the side characters. I don't hate them or dislike them but they all fall under the "same relevance" type of deal. Just being supporting characters and all. It wouldn't be all bad since they filled their purpose but still. They don't get any that much development. Sad part is that this wouldn't be the last time a decently big cast of characters would be this undercooked in a film. And furthermore, the title implies this is supposed to be a team type of movie when in actuality this is pretty much Hiro & Baymax's film in a nutshell. Though, I cannot really fault anyone for keeping the significant focus on them. That being said, I thought the film was fine. A could've been better type of film but was fine.
I'm guilty for being one of those who forgot about the film. But I genuenly like the disney sci-fi movie.Treasure planet was amazing, but Disney at the time didn't like it, so they sabotaged it through marketing. People can make a sci-fi film. It just got to be really good with writing and visuals.
this was my favourite movie when i was growing up, and probably still my favourite disney film ever! i wish there was more love for the big hero 6 animated series, it's super underrated :p
Reminder that Big Hero 6 also got a TV show (much like Tangled did) that further fleshed out the world and characters and introduced new villains for the team to face off against. They also have most of the film cast reprising their roles, including Alan Tudyk and Alistair Krei and Stan Lee as Fred’s dad.
The themes of grief and coping with loss are pretty good in this movie.... Everything else is just fine unfortunately. Baymax definitely carries the movie since it's what most people tend to complement immediately. A good movie... But it shouldn't have beat Tale of Princess Kaguya at the Oscars. The disrespect that the movie got by voters is insane.
i cant tell how much i love this movie and the heroes like hiro and gogo only 4 years between them btw so not a strange ship baymax was so funny animation was epic and series is great and love the unique universe with japanese american style city of san frantokyo and i give my left arm for more
This movie is was too under rated, it should have had so much more attention, the story is in my opinion amazing, loss is a subject so pushed down between people that if you have never experienced you could honestly say you would never understand, and a movie practically Built around loss? and how he we through all of the stages of greif is exeptionly rare and valuable, these things you never see as when it does happen in the real world it is alwas hidden and or pushed aside to fester/ To see a movie about a kid, just an avrage kid go through such a loss, then build himself up to be such a great person in such a flashy way is crazy! you don't see anything like this because its such an senstive subject, but even for people who have lost people in the past like I have this movie is such a massive insperation to show that no matter how far down the pit you have reached their is alwas a way out, and at that a healthy and good one that teaches kids that going violent is not alwas the best awnser, I mean look at the part of the film where he tells baymax to destroy, in the end he ended up leaving hsi only friends behind stranded on an island but still was forgiven and that showed just how much of an impact that could have on someone going through a rough time... minus the killing mechine XD but this movie was a master peice in so many ways its hard to just leave alone One side note, the series kind of sucked XD, had nothing to do with the original plot
The incarnation of the team has the tech of Ironman, the youth of Spider-Man, the teamwork of X-men, and the diverse rouge gallery of the Fantastic 4. When you watch the tv series.
This franchise deserves multiple videogames, a sequel to the original movie, a live action reboot within the MCU, and multiple crossovers with Kingdom Hearts, Fantastic Four, X-Men, The Avengers, The Defenders, The Runaways, Cloak and Dagger, and Spider-Man
Personaly when i think abaut this movie i always have a sour taste, because in a year full of AMAZING animated movies like The lego movie, HTTYD 2, the book of live, and princess Mononoke, the academy presented THIS as the THE BEST, and when i saw it all i got was a 6/10 movie jam pack with mid characters with a good 3D standard desing i dont think much abaut it. Like the superhero stuff was fine as a bridge to the mcu or starting a marvel animated movies with the marvel IP but that never happen...
I mean, the movie is good. I loved it. I still love it to this day as a teenager. I loved it and as an adult now. I still love it. It's really good and how's a good message? I really love it and I do have plans to watch again
Not gonna lie, I legit thought of a good sequel for Big Hero 6. Basically, Hiro and his friends discover a universe where Tadashi survived instead of Hiro, and he avenged his fallen brother in his own universe. However, after Hiro and everyone else bonds with this alternate Tadashi, it’s revealed that Hiro’s death pushed Tadashi into the darkness, and he’s actually incredibly brutal, killing every villain he fights. After being rejected by everyone, Tadashi is sent back to his home, but not after making his own portal to return home. He would have a supersuit of his own that would have the combined powers of everyone on Big Hero 6, and would have a killer Baymax army. Oh, and Aunt Cass would find out that Hiro is part of big hero 6. I really want this to be made into a movie at some point, and I really hope people like this idea.
I think part of the reason this movie isn't as well-remembered as other films is that it followed Frozen, and Disney itself seemed unwilling to devote any attention away from the Frozen franchise. machine at the time. I went to Disney World in late 2014. Big Hero 6 was the studio's latest release, and yet there was barely any sign the film existed. I saw one little cart of merch for Big Hero 6, yet Frozen stuff was still E V E R Y W H E R E. This poor movie got kicked aside by its own studio immediately so that Frozen wouldn't have to share the spotlight for five minutes.
YESABIGHERO6VIDEOWOOOO- Anyway, as a fan myself, im hold this movie very close to my heart, especially because this movie kinda saved me from my personality crisis. Or just the fack that i had moved schools at the time (20214-15, in 5th grade) and was trying to fit in. And im not an extrovert so this was especially really hard. But after somehow stumbling on to this film, that i REALLY needed, i saw all those different characters with different personalities and styles and still being friends and all (ALSO the world building is literally SO COOL, it's just a fact). So Big Hero 6 kinda snapped me back to My reality. Reminding me that "Hey, appreciate the ones that love you. And it's okay to be different. No need to worry about if you talk, dress or look like all the others. Because if so, then the world would be a pretty f*cking boring place" AND this movie reminded me how MUCH i love animation So Thank You, Big Hero 6
Also I'm very aware that not everyone likes BH6, there was this specific video by someone about how they hated BH6 (or at least the 2017 series, i mean yes, not the best one but HEY it was expanding the lore and the world building) but THIS VIDEO WAS AT LEAST 1H LONG LIKE damn m8, chill out. Funny enough, I was kinda scared to watch that video at first, I thought I would lose the love for this movie. But naahh, just gained a thicker skin. Tho there are points I agree with em Update: I checked out their channel again, at least they like the Baymax short series, that's nice. I don't hate em as much as I first did lmao, they r just okay
Looking back, hero's brother (the adult role model the mc looks up to) dying & the rich businessman suspected of being the vilen only to learn it was some other guy, do make the story quite predicable. But that's mostly because it's been a trope that's existed for god knows how long. And as grate as an idea was combining sanfransisco and tokyo, it doesn't look all that speshal but is still a good setting. I can't really think of any other problems with this film.
I miss the days where there wasn’t much to complain about. Maybe I was just an edgy teen at the time, but I remember seeing flaws with the movie and other people talking about them. Now, I feel like so much of what’s coming out is just complete garbage, enough for me to not look forwards to new movies anymore
Tbh when i first saw this movie, that then became my most favorite movie to this day, i did see the callaghan twist coming but does that mean i hated him, no. I dont get why people think hes weak or awful as a villain. His plot wasn't terribly written. First off hes a character who those friendly to him is a geuine guy, hwoever because of events that caused him a loss of his daughter presumably, he grew angry and vengeful, plotting his revenge on krei. He chose to use the microbots, also they literally said he inveneted them, and use them to his advantage. Sure you can say they just turned him evil randmoly with no remourse. Of course hes committing a crime of revenge blind with his rage and loss, unlike hiro who almost became like him the moment he discovered his idenity. The whole "that was his mistake" thing is getting out of hand. He said that beacuse yes he dosnt care if he cost the life of one of his students, he only cares about his daughter in the moment he was being challanged. And after almost succeeding, he is defeated and you can see his relief the moment he saw his daughter and looks down in pity knowing he got what he deserved. Again, i saw it coming, i knew it was him but its not like the film didnt challenge us to believe it was krei before it was revealed to be callaghan. Krei still played a huge part to why callaghan became who he was. Hes a tragic character, he knew what he was doing, he did cost the life of tadashi and if you watch the series, he apologizes but is not forgivin. Thats all i gotta say, you can tell me why callaghan should still be a for some reason meme, but this villain has and will never stop me from loving big hero 6
You should dig into the spinoffs as well, from the series, to Baymax!, although it is time we do need a sequel for this and not others we don't need. Hear us out, Disney, we need our personal healthcare companion to heal us from all this sequel problems. Baymax is the Sequel Jesus at this point.

@@TargetstrikeWas it because each episode of Season 3 was 12 minutes instead of 22 minutes
To this day, the scene where Baymax shows Hiro the Tadashi clips, is one of the most emotional scenes in any Disney film
one of my favourite movies. i love it so much and it will always live in my heart
This is, in my opinion, my _favorite_ animated movie by Disney from the early 2010s. 😁. The story, the characters, the twists and turns, the plot elements, the sci-fi/superhero Marvel-esque elements...I just absolutely _LOVE_ it!!! 😁.
One of Disney’s most underrated.
I really love ‘Big Hero 6’!
This is the one movie i want a sequel to, but im afraid of what they might create.
honestly i don't know if i want a sequel what would they do
Funny, in Germany the movie actually is called Baymax
Even in Japan.
Loved this movie so much! I am actually upset they did not go all out on merch for it!
I love this movie, but all I hear about it is the, "That was his mistake!" In Schafrilis' videos.
I love how great this movie was . As it shows the theme of heros and dealing with loss.
Why do i feel like big hero 6 is not a hidden gem and actually still falls flat on my expectations every time i give it another shot. Stuff falls apart with the villain being just dumb "that was his mistake" callahan uuuugggghhhh
i loved this movie and the follow up show exsept s3
Thank you for discussing this. Big Hero 6 is a wonderful film.
A could've been better type of film but was fine.
the side characters are actually more developed in the 2017 sequel series (ignore the fact that season 3 exists though)
Aside from the terrible twist villain from Callaghan, this movie is actually pretty solid.
That was his mistake!
I'm quite curious what you think of the Big Hero Six Television Series that was aired. It had a bit of a different tone than the movie did.
This was my favorite movie as a kid for some time
I'm guilty for being one of those who forgot about the film. But I genuenly like the disney sci-fi movie.Treasure planet was amazing, but Disney at the time didn't like it, so they sabotaged it through marketing.
People can make a sci-fi film. It just got to be really good with writing and visuals.
I enjoy your videos man thanks for the content
this was my favourite movie when i was growing up, and probably still my favourite disney film ever! i wish there was more love for the big hero 6 animated series, it's super underrated :p
I dont care what you all say. the soundtracks for the baymax and the car chase was goated asf
The one this I hold against this movie is they killed Tadashi, but yeah this movie was great 👍
Reminder that Big Hero 6 also got a TV show (much like Tangled did) that further fleshed out the world and characters and introduced new villains for the team to face off against. They also have most of the film cast reprising their roles, including Alan Tudyk and Alistair Krei and Stan Lee as Fred’s dad.
Baymax and Fred are literally the BEST characters in this film.
am i the only one who thought the villain was tadashi before they revealed who he actually was
The themes of grief and coping with loss are pretty good in this movie.... Everything else is just fine unfortunately. Baymax definitely carries the movie since it's what most people tend to complement immediately. A good movie... But it shouldn't have beat Tale of Princess Kaguya at the Oscars. The disrespect that the movie got by voters is insane.
i cant tell how much i love this movie and the heroes like hiro and gogo only 4 years between them btw so not a strange ship baymax was so funny animation was epic and series is great and love the unique universe with japanese american style city of san frantokyo and i give my left arm for more
No way you just said it's not so strange to ship a literal child and a college student together.
@@inacatt not in the future
This movie is was too under rated, it should have had so much more attention, the story is in my opinion amazing, loss is a subject so pushed down between people that if you have never experienced you could honestly say you would never understand, and a movie practically Built around loss? and how he we through all of the stages of greif is exeptionly rare and valuable, these things you never see as when it does happen in the real world it is alwas hidden and or pushed aside to fester/ To see a movie about a kid, just an avrage kid go through such a loss, then build himself up to be such a great person in such a flashy way is crazy! you don't see anything like this because its such an senstive subject, but even for people who have lost people in the past like I have this movie is such a massive insperation to show that no matter how far down the pit you have reached their is alwas a way out, and at that a healthy and good one that teaches kids that going violent is not alwas the best awnser, I mean look at the part of the film where he tells baymax to destroy, in the end he ended up leaving hsi only friends behind stranded on an island but still was forgiven and that showed just how much of an impact that could have on someone going through a rough time... minus the killing mechine XD
but this movie was a master peice in so many ways its hard to just leave alone
One side note, the series kind of sucked XD, had nothing to do with the original plot
Fun fact: its actually based on a Marvel comic.
The incarnation of the team has the tech of Ironman, the youth of Spider-Man, the teamwork of X-men, and the diverse rouge gallery of the Fantastic 4. When you watch the tv series.
This franchise deserves multiple videogames, a sequel to the original movie, a live action reboot within the MCU, and multiple crossovers with Kingdom Hearts, Fantastic Four, X-Men, The Avengers, The Defenders, The Runaways, Cloak and Dagger, and Spider-Man
I loved this movie so much back in the day!
I know, I love the series too.
We all know a true man's favorite part of this movie is when Disk Chick (genuinely can't remember her name) moons the camera at the final battle
We're making this one as "Big Hero 6: Dawn of Sunfire" or maybe make it "Big Hero 7" because Tadashi becomes the jack of all trades.
@@Zyugo actually I was going to have Tadashi go back to his homeworld at the end.
Because if so, then the world would be a pretty f*cking boring place"
AND this movie reminded me how MUCH i love animation
So Thank You, Big Hero 6
Also I'm very aware that not everyone likes BH6, there was this specific video by someone about how they hated BH6 (or at least the 2017 series, i mean yes, not the best one but HEY it was expanding the lore and the world building) but THIS VIDEO WAS AT LEAST 1H LONG LIKE damn m8, chill out. Funny enough, I was kinda scared to watch that video at first, I thought I would lose the love for this movie. But naahh, just gained a thicker skin.
Tho there are points I agree with em
Update: I checked out their channel again, at least they like the Baymax short series, that's nice.
I really love this movie!
I miss the days where there wasn’t much to complain about. Maybe I was just an edgy teen at the time, but I remember seeing flaws with the movie and other people talking about them. Now, I feel like so much of what’s coming out is just complete garbage, enough for me to not look forwards to new movies anymore
Will you review the show
Crazy this movie has better animation than megamind 2
Good movie with a bad twist and stupid villain. Like I can appreciate it for quite a few things, just not the twist.
Are you gonna talk about the new Megamind 2 trailer and upcoming series?
hey did you hear about the 2D animated sequel series? I recommend checking it out (except for season 3, that was the worst one)
Thats all i gotta say, you can tell me why callaghan should still be a for some reason meme, but this villain has and will never stop me from loving big hero 6
nobody ever mention the animated show and it was pretty alright too
Don't forget the cartoon series
I watched this movie when i was a child, SO i got a lot of nolstalga towards it.
I agree that the Twist Villain was good. Personally, I like the supporting characters better than Hiro and Baymax.
RaisorBlade and Schaffrilas would tend to disagree at such statement😂
You should dig into the spinoffs as well, from the series, to Baymax!, although it is time we do need a sequel for this and not others we don't need. Hear us out, Disney, we need our personal healthcare companion to heal us from all this sequel problems. Baymax is the Sequel Jesus at this point.
Baymax is tadachi watching over hiro .
THAT WAS HIS MISTAKE
Most Superhero movies are also sci-fi.
I mean it got a spin off series w most of the original voice actors that was also good … so idk how the franchise was “forgettable” unless you didn’t follow the content
Big Hero 6 is a good movie, but it winning over The Lego Movie, Song of the Sea, and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya was disgraceful. The Book of Life was also better.
Don't let SML see this
I am going to be honest I think that movie sucks it doesn't deserve credit
Too many plot holes for me to enjoy it.
Nah ! It had a terrible twist villain with bland and boring side characters ! Don't forget the humour was just terrible !
Omg thank you 😭 I loved this movie since it came out ♥️🤍
