Excellent video. Thank you! However, others need to be aware that the video is disassembling a "new" washer, so pieces come apart easily. Be aware that (if like ours) your Washer Plate in the bottom of the drum might be "fused" to the shaft. We tried tricks from other videos, and also rigged up hooks/slings/ratchet-straps to attempt to pull it off, and it eventually busted instead of pulling off. So you might just plan on having to cut yours out, and think about ordering a new Washer Plate as part of your repair. Also, the gear case would not just pull out of the tub from the bottom. We had to use a piece of 4x4 to drive the old assembly out of the tub from the inside. Thank you again for the video!

My current situation. That 7/16th bolt that holds the agitator plate is seized. AND they used real soft metal for that bolt, so guess what? The corners are rounded off it. Bolt extractor didnt work. About ready to cut the plate out and hope I can get the spanner nut off and hammer the old gear box out after that.

Those words JUST came our of my dad's mouth as he is trying to get the washer plate out!! He had a chuckle as I read your comment, especially when I got to the 2x4 part! He's a retired carpenter and says "you should never leave home without a 2x4. Btw, he just got the agitator palate out with "fast, hard, jerking." 😊

Loved this comment. Spent over an hour trying to remove the rotor with full force also using pry bars but could not remove it. Thought it might be the force of the magnets but I'm guessing it's stuck from years of use. Tough repair.

agreed with the last comment. I used penetrating oi to loosen rust on the drive assembly from the tub. With the drive assembly bolts removed and washer back up right I used a pipe that fit on the drive assembly and extended above the washer and with a couple of whacks with a hammer I was able to remove the drive assembly.

As others have mentioned in these comments, the repairs shown in this video are shown on new, un-used equipment that hasn’t fused together with a glue of hard water deposits and soapy sludge residue. My washer is between 3 & 4 years old and NOTHING came apart as shown in this video.
The top shaft nut was glued in place so bad we had to wedge a 2 X 4 into the basket to keep it stationary. The wife then had to stand on the board while I broke the nut loose with a ratchet.
Next, the agitator would not just lift out as shown in the video. I tried for two days to pry it, dissolving the glue like crap using penetrating oil, goof off, a heat gun and a steam machine. We ended up having to bust the agitator into small parts to get it out. Under the agitator I had to cut theretaining ring into several pieces and then beat the shaft out with a sledge hammer and steel bar.
No wonder the appliance repair guy basically gave us a 900 estimate for labor and a ton of parts we didn’t need, we originally paid less than 800 for the washer knew. Basically he over priced the repair order high enough he knew we would say no just to get out of messing with it, after the ordeal of getting everything apart I can’t say I blame him.
Good video of what the process should look like just expect extra effort if the washer had been used at all.

I wished I have read the comments... Yours alone would have made me just buy a new unit rather than fixing it myself. Sadly, I too could not get past the agitator.

Can the tub seal be replaced in this model without replacing the whole gear assembly?

Are the O-rings/seals available for purchase for this gearbox or similar?

Does this type of gearbox drive contain grease? Or some type of oil?

There are many variants of that washer that look exactly the same on the exterior but in the interior some are direct drive and some have classic belt and pulley system
