Quick question! When restoring rusty plates, after soaking in vinegar and scrubbing/drying off, would you recommend using 3 in 1 oil to “season” the plates and letting it soak in for a day or so before painting, or do you think this would make it harder for the paint to stick? Thanks!
I am also from pittsburgh and have some more questions about a purchase of weights i just made. After viewing some of your content it seems like a pair of Billard Barbell 50 lb 1 inch hole plates could be considered a rare find? I just purchased a pair and was wondering how difficult they are to come by. Second, I also purchased a set of 2 inch standard plates. The only text on them is “OLYMPIC” but after early cleaning I uncovered an engraving that says “Taiwan”. I was wondering if you would consider these likely vintage ivanko plates? I would love your input and can send pictures if you are interested
I like to use CitriStrip gel to strip to bare iron if repainting. As for oiling, not really. You can just dry off and paint. Here’s a video I made about painting: th-cam.com/video/P3z6bkdtN7s/w-d-xo.html
MC Rob is correct this brunch is awesome. The best option I have found.
I’m loving it! Thanks for watching and commenting, Coach!
Brillo pad works fine
Not for me. But I appreciate you watching. 💪
