You shouldn’t push yourself so hard. I appreciate your videos, but I could just see how hard it was for you to finish. Take your time we will still hang out waiting to see what you have to share with us! ❤
Hello! I know cooking all day is exhausting when you're healthy, add in pain & that's totally different game. WE are pain warriors! As we do this fighting thru constant pain to hopefully feed our families healthy, delicious & well balanced meals. If you understand pain, you will understand what I mean. I personally think your kitchen is beautiful & perfect for you. Everything is close & perfect for your well being. The last thing you need is extra or unnecessary steps. The rude comment (a few videos back) bothers me SO very much! Hopefully enough positive comments washed away the negativity. I won't bring it up again, however please know what a great service you're doing for so many. God bless you & your family.
Yes I like how many meals you get for your money some people say when I cook a big lot of either chicken and vegetable soup or just vegetable soup how much do you spend I said I don't care what I spend I spend what I have to I buy about between 10 to 12 vegetables and I buy a big thing of good chicken breast it might come to about between $75 to $120 dollers it depends on how much my vegetables are sometimes there are dear and sometimes I can get them cheap I sa it depends on how much it costs to get about 10 services of chicken and vegetable soup and about 8 of just vegetables so that is 18 or so services then you work out how much it costs per meal for dinner I am not a big eater so.iitabout between $6.50 to 8.00 a service depends on how much chicken I put in each serve vegetable soup would be between $4.70 to $5..30 per service depending on how much it cost me
lol, this is exactly how i shop as well. look for the discount stickers lol. thanks so much stace. as i sit here watching your brain work out, like most kiwis, what to make with the stuff that was a) available and b) on special, i realise that you are a national treasure of rural new zealand. its so nice to have a kiwi channel with nz items. god bless you. ps. dying to see the rooster walk in to the kitchen next time. its a balsy move on his part, especially if you are cooking his relatives lol.
This is bringing up some memories. This is what we grew up on. I've only been watching your videos for a week or two, but I love your channel already. 😊
Your videos are never too long! We only worry for you…your pain. 🙏🏻 I am always amazed at the ideas that keep pouring out of you! You inspire me to make some changes and dig myself out of the rut of thinking like my mom. Growing up, we always knew that Wed. was meatloaf, etc… You make meal planning an adventure! Thank you for sharing! Hugs from Ohio!
I always use a can of brown lentils and half the amount of suggested mince when I cook mince dishes. You can hardly telll the difference. It bulks it out and is healthier.
Wow it surprises me that people say there is not enough meat.... considering the RDA is 4oz to 8 oz a day...plus you have all those beans. I think people are use to eating too much meat...your budget grocery haul could easily give you enough for the week. Great Job... Everything looks great!
Kiwis are big meat eaters. We probably can do 100g of mince each a serve but really we could cut down out of necessity, for health and environmental reasons.
You create magic! Many women used to know how to stretch a dollar but we have lost that skill. Thank you for showing us how it's done! Another tip: you can add chick peas to the coconut curry dish instead of rice. It adds a starch, bulks out the dish, and tastes delicious! Love your videos! I am binge watching them. ❤
You did amazing! My mom grew up through the Great Depression in TX. They were cotton farmers and with 12 kids they had a huge garden and raised their own meat. She was the baby and started cooking for all of them at a very young age while they all worked the fields. She only knew how to cook for 14 and made huge batches of everything so our freezer was always full. I learned to cook from her and also cook for an army. I love how you have such a diverse amount of recipes! I hope all young folks learn about your channel! Thanks for sharing but don’t ware yourself out 💖💞
Of course we are still with you at the end of this vid. My sister and I plan social evenings around your videos, I am a chef and she my sister is a cheapskate finally we have found something we can enjoy watching together lol. We love your ideas but really missed watching you taste everything but looking forward to the $100 dollar challenge.
My Nana said when they grew up if another person turned up while tea was cooking they would just add more water to the mince to make it go further😂 someone else would turn up.. more water went in the pot.😂❤
Those groceries would be over 100$ in Canada . Inflation has gone through the roof here and the government has increased carbon tax 22% on April 1 which will increase it even more. Thank you for the great ideas on using carrots and cabbage to extend the meat in many different dishes.
This is so soothing to watch... Not even kidding but i find this extremely comforting. I have anxiety and this is great to pop on when I finish work and feeling a little elevated. Appreciate what you do and the way youre helping so many people through this cost of living crisis ❤
Excellent Job Stacy. Hope people can learn from this.when you are forced to budget you get creative and when you have to feed a family you get even better at making good choices when shopping. Great learning from each other.
What an absolute treasure trove- you deserve a medal Stacey! Enjoyed every bit of your video, got such a lot of ideas from this and it is fantastic how you suggest substitutes along the way. Thanks🎉
You do such a good job making any amount money work. It encourages me each time I watch you. Today I went to my fridge and freezer and made up 6 dinner meal ideas with what I found. My 6 are: in no real order: Hamburgers, potatoe wedges, Egg roll in a bowl, Potatoe soup, a loaf of homemade bread and green salad, Tofu-Kale Sauté with fried rice, Chili with beef and beans, topped with some cheese and cornbread, Shrimp Scampi over noodles, broccoli I surprised myself that I had nearly everything I needed to make these dinners. There is a small grocery pick up I will need to do before the end of the week for missing ingredients. You were really tired doing all the work you did. I felt like you should only do shorter videos and not burn yourself out. I am 65. I live in N. Idaho, USA. I do all my meal preparation in the morning hours. I am bushed in the late afternoon. We are currently a family of 7. Two teenage grandchildren are with us while their mom finishes up some schooling, My husband and myself, Our 20 year old daughter, a newborn (11 days old) and the newborn’s dad. We cook all our meals at home so managing the kitchen and food supply is a full time job of sorts. Thanks again. You really did get me out of my funk and busy solving some food organization issues. @ProudCanadian-vv6bk yes, we make coins and notes for many countries. We originally got the polymer notes from Australia then made our own. That's why there are so many anti-counterfeiting features, some of which are quite slick. Our notes have had braille for years, even the old paper notes.
Wowza - That was an epic effort! Fantastic ideas - you are opening my eyes to the many many things that can be created in the kitchen for a family with your creative cooking and budgeting skills. Loving it.
Hi from the mighty Waikato. Love your vids! Those yeast flakes aka Brufax are soo good sprinkled on buttered toast! Been a family fave for 5 generations now.
Oh wow I wish my brain worked like yours Stacey. When I looked at what was bought, my brain went blank. You’re a champion Stacey, these videos are so very helpful to stretch money further. Everything looks delicious and will be giving them a try, thank you for an amazing effort ♥️
nutritional yeast- sprinkling it on popcorn instead of butter or salt mixing it into risotto instead of Parmesan cheese making a vegan alternative to a cheese sauce stir it into creamy soups for added nutrients adding it to scrambled eggs or a tofu scramble mixing it into a nut roast or stuffing,,,,
Excellent vlog Stacey, you must be exhausted. I love a long video, I could watch you all day, but it must take it out of you, such a lot of hard work and brilliant ideas, thank you X
Videos are not too long! It's refreshing seeing someone making product I can sit and get fully engrossed with... ps I'm watching your older videos to try help support you through your recovery
I am so glad I found your channel! These recipes are a not only nutritious but a true reflection of how far you can stretch that dollar. The recipes are easy to make 😊 I’ve recently unfollowed a lady here in Australia who believes you can feed a family with $50 - with items like cheap soup and a crumpet for dinner! Eating like that especially with a family is not healthy…. Nor fuel for the body. I am looking forward to seeing your other videos.
thank you for all your effort. Its so nice to know that you can share your knowledge on how to make $$ stretch for those of us who need to. I will be using your videos to make life easier on the pocket. The no knead bread is a favourite so far and is made 3-4 times a week, using an old old cast iron dish. Again thank you I will be revisiting your past videos to learn more
Wow what a feat you accomplished. You looked so exhausted after each session which I know is down to the heat and the pain in your knee. Thank upj so much for these wonderful recipes. I'm definitely going to try more than a few from this video. Blessings and prayers that you get your knee sorted soon.🧡👌🧡
Wow, thankyou from west Oz! Only the second time I have watched your channel and what wonderful cooking on a budget I watched, riveted for the duration😊🇦🇺
Hi Stacey this is what i was told as a teen, putting 1 teaspoonof salt in your pot when boiling eggs, will stop the shell cracking while cooking, So ive always done it, never had an egg crack prematurely. In 60 yrs, i say it works.😮
Thank you for coming back, sharing your homely, yummy recipes, I have been cooking for my family for 50 years could never cook hard boiled eggs without black ring around yolk, great tip ❤. Take care of you 🇦🇺🫶
Stacey, you are a legend. You must contact Budgeting Services NZ. I’m sure they would value your advice. My hubby is a carnivore and I’m a Vegetarian and I simply make a load of sauces where I can add his meaty bits in later. Wonderful video. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
When I saw the yeast I thought it was nutritional yeast. You can actually sprinkle it on the popcorn. It has a cheese flavor. Great video. Love being able to spend time with you while I'm cleaning and cooking 💖
Psst, screens on the windows so you can open them without letting in flies. Along the idea of onion scones, roll out some dough and add little bits of leftovers, roll into pinwheels and top with herbs and spices. Yes, flour will stretch meals a long way. Cook the apple cores down and press through a colander to get every bit of apple for an apple sauce, a spread for toast or maybe popsicles to cool you down from the kitchen heat.
I love that you are Kiwi based 😅...and since watching your channels I have started doing freezer meals for one, and love it. I understand the $$$, the ingredients and ohhhh so the prices. Thank you ❤.
Wow!! That was a marathon of cooking......I feel exhausted just watching you. A lot of amazing meal ideas, & very budget friendly. Hope you have a well deserved rest after all that cooking🙏🙏 thanks for all your inspiration 👌🙌
Hi Stacey, my mom puts nutritional yeast on top of her popcorn and she says it tastes like cheese. I haven’t tried it yet, but still wanted to share. Sending hugs from Texas.❤ Im so glad I found your channel! Thank you for all your cooking knowledge you share.
You should have rested and mot made the crumble! There are so many great recipe ideas Stace, thank you for your hard work doing this video. I appreciate it. Now go and sit down and rest your knee! ❤
Brilliant video to inspire all your followers. I have used a lot of your ideas and freeze in takeaway coffee cups. Ideal for soups , sauces and leftovers and a nice size portion. I put foil on top with a rubberband so they are easy to spot when i need a meal in a hurry. i appreciate you showing the real way to cook.
Thank you Stacey, I really get inspired by your video's. I try to plan my meals now instead of going to the supermarket to buy something I feel like every now and then. I added up my monthly grocery cost and I was shocked at what I spend!! I have certainly learned through your video's not to be so wasteful, so thanks so much, you are wonderful
Thank you, I am so impressed with your knowledge of cooking these beautiful meals and your willingness to share. You are very much appreciated. Kiwi talent so valued in this day and age when we need to learn to cook from scratch. Blessings always.
I am enjoying getting ideas & improvising into my family's meal as well as budgeting the pancake dry mix works wonders for my children to do we have cookie dough freezing you have made me realtor how l cook & budget thank you Stace
You made SO much more than you thought you could! And still with things leftover. How many servings in total did you get throughout all the meals? You are amazing! I love your videos. You have helped me so much with my canning and my budgeting as a single person.
Hi Stacy!! You are a hard-working, practical, and strong-minded lady!! I love, love, love your recipes!! I don't know how you manage to create all of these wholesome and delectable dishes!!! And, simultaneously, you manage to use up each bit of food that you have!! I really enjoy watching your videos not only because of your recipes but also because you are a nice person!!!
When you were talking about the slurry it made me remember that my mum made flour dumplings to expand the dish and it was always my favourite part! Also she used baked beans in savoury mince as it added tomato sauce and more protein. I hate baked beans but love it cooked like that.
I love your traditional old school way of cooking. Reminds me of how I grew up. Nothing fancy but kai was always wholesome and filling. And the carving with the fork in the mash with the fish pie, is humbly awesome
Thank you Stacey for another wonderful video. So appreciate the time & effort you put into making the meals & videoing as you go. More fantastic ideas 😊😊
Thank you Stacey for another wonderful video. I am looking at the ingredients thinking you can make this or that with it. If you add red lentils to the list it will stretch it out more. Some ideas I thought of came from my go to recipe book (Alison Holst dollars and sense cook book),Please take care of yourself when doing these videos.
Apple crunch we called it when I was growing up in Montana. You inspire me with your endurance and I admire your strength to regain your focus and power through!
I love baked beans and hot dogs. I also have a recipe for BB soup. You add fried minced beef, tomato sauce & ketchup and other spices. It is a tasty meal that goes far.
Amazing!!! When you consider a family of five could easily spend that or more in one takeaway meal then you see how fantastic this is. All your meals have great nutrition, i love how its all from scaratch woth simple ingredients. Regardless of the amount of protein, which i personally think is fine. These meals are hearty healthy and cheap. Hats off to you my love another absolute winner!❤
This was wonderful im so looking forward to trying these recipes and they are so economical. Im not surprised you were tired though 😄. Thank you so much Stacey i love your videos 🐨🦘🇦🇺
Hi Stacey. Thanks for this video. Its great to get new ideas for meals. I feel so sorry for you trying to stand so long with your bad knee. I hope you can get it fixed soon. On a different note, have you considered linking an Amazon wish list to your videos? Its a great way for us to give back
Could of added carrot to mash spuds and pumpkin,it's yummy Brown lentils are great for bulking mince and full of protein and super cheap 500g for $3.19 If ya to can't afford cheese the tasty cheese sauce sachets are great use milk instead of water and make to thickness needed, great on pizzas to Value potato flakes are cheap and easily feeds my family of 5 I add milk butter along with salt and boiling water and again make to thickness needed
I used to make a chow mien , it’s similar to your curry using mince , I added some raw rice and a packet of chicken noodle soup, bulk it out with more cabbage , other leftover veggies can be added if you wish , serve with rice .
If you add some cooked rice to the mince curry with veg, you could have a stir fried rice. I usually do that with frozen veg like corn, peas and carrot or fresh cabbage, coriander, french beans. A one dish meal.
You shouldn’t push yourself so hard. I appreciate your videos, but I could just see how hard it was for you to finish. Take your time we will still hang out waiting to see what you have to share with us! ❤
Love your videos because you are real,we need more real people because we are real people. You are precious ✝️
Thats right anything you could if we can't eat the sauce or spices we can just put in what we can eat our selfs

I am so thankful for my butcher. They give away frozen cream for free and we always take everything they have and we make half our butter for free.
That's amazing they do that. Nothing better than homemade cream!
I always use a can of brown lentils and half the amount of suggested mince when I cook mince dishes. You can hardly telll the difference. It bulks it out and is healthier.
I do the same. Stretches it and tastes great

Me too!! I was starting to "wonder" where Stacey was because I was missing her content even though it was only a few days since she last posted 😂
Same here
Same I'm loving all these tasty ideas and going back to cooking from scratch rather than relying on a packaged mixes for everything
I know right me too!
Me too, if you haven't any lentils add porridge or rolled oats, or other beans or pulses - even the dreaded baked beans! T.

My sister and I plan social evenings around your videos, I am a chef and she my sister is a cheapskate finally we have found something we can enjoy watching together lol. Thank you, I am so impressed with your knowledge of cooking these beautiful meals and your willingness to share. You are very much appreciated. Kiwi talent so valued in this day and age when we need to learn to cook from scratch. Blessings always.
Thanks so much for all your hard work. Will definitely make some of these recipes.
I am enjoying getting ideas & improvising into my family's meal as well as budgeting the pancake dry mix works wonders for my children to do we have cookie dough freezing you have made me realtor how l cook & budget thank you Stace
The trick is to buy the meat when it's on special and freeze it. And when you get your tomato paste, freeze the leftovers into ice cube trays!
I freeze my tomato paste into pucks, I prefer it that way :-)
@@FarmersWifeHomestead The paste comes in such big tins which is the cheapest.
And throwing it away, literally just makes me want to cry.
They are huge, I brought those probably 2 years ago now, and they were only $4.50 a tin. I hate to see how much they are now.
You made SO much more than you thought you could! And still with things leftover. How many servings in total did you get throughout all the meals? You are amazing! I love your videos. You have helped me so much with my canning and my budgeting as a single person.
Over 65 for sure and thanks for watching
That was heroic effort!! Bravo!!
Hi Stacey, great video and great meal ideas. Thank you
Thankyou so much for all your helpful ideas, much appreciated 😊
Hope you had a big rest afterwards 😊
I did, thank you
Thank you so much!
I love your videos! Your effort and good old kiwiness is so honest and real! This video was not too long at all. Can’t wait for the next one 💕🥰
Thank you so much!!
Totally agree with your concept of less meat more vegetables, awesome advice 😊
A friend who has eaten over, noted that I use less meat than he's used 2 in some dishes, + "surprisingly the dishes are quite good" he says :))
The nutritional yeast is a fantastic substitute for a cheesy flavour. great mixed into the popcorn. mixed into the breadcrumbs for fish pie.
I bought the nutritional yeast. To me, it hasn't got a cheesy flavor, it has no flavor at all.
Thank you Stacey for another wonderful video. So appreciate the time & effort you put into making the meals & videoing as you go. More fantastic ideas 😊😊
Thank you so much!
I think I still have a copy of that book. What a treasure she is!
I got that book back when I was at university and it's got me through some tough times in the 23 years I've had it!
I got that book at a second hand shop 😊
Love your recipes they are easy and they look so yummy.
Great job, great ideas! The fish pie looks delish 💙👍🏻
Thanks so much! 😊

Apple crunch we called it when I was growing up in Montana. You inspire me with your endurance and I admire your strength to regain your focus and power through!
You do so well but I wish you would rest a while. Thank you for the video, I really enjoyed it.
Carrot and carrot or pumpkin mash work beautifully
Or pumkin kumera mash
Pumkin and kumera mash is nice, bit they both have to be bright orange 😊
Another awesome video. I have got heaps of ideas for my own menu planning. Thank you
Thank you Stacey. You did a great job. Not too long. AlwYs a pleasure to watch you.
Idea: Freeze scrambled raw egg yokes in ice cube tray cubes. Grate the cubes frozen. Add to meals to add a taste like cheese like topping.
Loaded up a bunch of your YT in the queue to play (to help your budget while you are recuperating)
Its a great way for us to give back
Wow Stacey amazing, thanks for all your ideas. You must be exhausted. You deserve a cuppa and a lie down!. after that marathon
Pumpkin and potato mash was always known as sunshine in my childhood
Could of added carrot to mash spuds and pumpkin,it's yummy
Brown lentils are great for bulking mince and full of protein and super cheap 500g for $3.19
If ya to can't afford cheese the tasty cheese sauce sachets are great use milk instead of water and make to thickness needed, great on pizzas to
Value potato flakes are cheap and easily feeds my family of 5 I add milk butter along with salt and boiling water and again make to thickness needed
Wow, that was great, well done Stacey, a lot of good ideas there for stretching protein..I’d have liked to be your chief taster ha x
So many great ideas Stace. Rest that knee though. We can wait. Thanks so much
You are so very inspirational...I need to go plan meals from my fairly full freezer and pantry! 😊
Thank you, you will be surprised what you will save :-)
Loved all your meals! Thank you. I’m going to try the same meals on $80 -$100 budget this week.
