- What's up guys! Here is the new puzzle box that I created, it's the first version so expect a better one to come!
Like I said, I am going to sell my puzzle boxes. This version is still a prototype though, the new one can be bought on my Etsy shop which I just opened, check it out!
In the mean time I made some more boxes, the newest one being 'The book of Fire'. This puzzle box is the perfect customizable gift for you or a loved one and will leave it's owner puzzled! You can personalize it with your own love quote to make it even more unique!
I craft all boxes myself, they are made of plywood which I lasercut and then glue together.

Yoo guyss! As I allready mentioned, the box in the video isnt perfect yet, so I made a version with only one working combination, where the magnet is included and with a better hint. It's also up for sale, check the Etsy link in the description of this video! Check it on my channel, cheers!

Cool, those were the three things that I had a problem with on your box, glad ti hear you've improved it.
Maybe your physics teacher did not know that it was allowed to use a magnet. (I think that, for some puzzle boxes, it is forbidden to use anything that did not come with the box to open the box.)

He should've gave his teacher the magnet. Because if he wanted his teacher to solve it, he would have to give the magnet along with the puzzle
You could still open it by tilting it in the side and shaking it until the ball rolls
He's now made an improved version of it which contains a magnet.

That's cheating you're supposed to provide everything needed to solve the puzzle. You cant do it with out a magnet, so the teacher should have been presented with a magnet with the box

Absolutely true, in my opinion, if you have a puzzle like this shouldn't it contain everything to open it??? It's like you have to find the right tool to open it. I would grab screwdriver what than?XD XD

I can see one flaw in this - namely setting the clocks to their opposite positions will also work, as the holes in the cylinders are necessarily the same thickness all the way through. That is to say there are now eight solutions (1 or 7), (2 or 8), (4 or 10) where you can choose either number from each set. It makes it therefore eight times easier to solve by random guesswork than it would otherwise have been, but I can't see any way around that.
True, also when tilting it to one side you can just rotate each disc until the ball is all the way down. But I thought of that and am working on a new version where these problems don't occur, the plans are ready! Stay tuned, peace
I figured that the sentence on the side was some kind of clue, but I did not know how to get the numbers from it. I noticed that the w's looked like 3's turned sideways, but I was on the wrong track.
You also don't need to solve them all together - you can move the ball successively past each barrier

Lee Fisher the way around this problem is easy just add little doors that open one way and if the person tries to unlock it using the 7, 8, 10 position the ball will get blocked by the door which only opens one way. I hope this helps.
As others have pointed out, the simple fact that you don't include a magnet, or even hint to needing one defeats the purpose of a puzzle.
You migh as well tell them to find a screw, axe or similar stuff and disassemble the box for all the good it makes.
Making a functional puzzle box is very cool. You put some thought into this one and did a nice job. I will be watching for future efforts.

I agree, it is a first attempt and as many first attempts it has its flaws (mirrored solution, use of external magnet) but it is a very neat idea. Much better than boxes with hidden mechanism where you have to hit the "puzzle" hard to make it pop open, all force and no brain.
And the clue is a bit too far fetched. I got a 1 from I, and a 6 from the g in forget.
Still makes it a very good attempt.
Good try for a puzzle. So unless all the armchair critics have bothered to make one they should cease the critical unless it's constructive and positive. including myself.

OK, very nice 😊 👍 but doesn't that mean it has TWO combinations? I knew straight away you were going to say 1,2, and 4, but the way you made it means that you could also use 7,8 and 10 maybe think 🤔 of a 2nd cheesy text for the other side to confuse more people 😂

Very nicely done. For the magnet you should include it embedded in a small wooden board with the hint written on it. Then it is discrete but you can hand it to the person with the puzzle box and tell them "The hint is the key to the puzzle.".
A fire will also reveal the contents of the box.

Yeah, that will do the job. A little bit of overkill, but effective nonetheless.
In order to improve your box, you could make the push button wider and the spring system lower (in order to trap the marble).
In that way the button will stop, just before the spring base, and the box will not open (even if you stick the magnet stick in the button hole), making the use of the marble in between mandatory.

1. You can just open the box by "pushing" the button with the magnet and then push it as far in as possible.
2. This "mechanism" will also allow a code where all the numbers are reversed, so 7-8-10 would work too.
3 Mentioned by others before, but it's no puzzlebox if you don't include a magnet in the box somewhere.

You didn't show the latch mechanism and how it actually dis-engages the lid, just the pea & the plunger.

I actually knew that a magnet was needed to turn the dials. What I didn't know was what the numbers were for, nor did I know that the phrase on the side was secretly numbers. I most likely would have turned the box so that it was standing on one end and then I would have used the magnet to spin each dial until I heard the marble drop while continuously pushing the button. So I would have figured it after a few minutes. It is still a awesome looking puzzle box and it has allot of ingenious ingenuity behind its creation. Nice puzzle.

Very cool idea. As others have said, try to incorporate the magnet into the design. Like maybe have a magnet hidden in the end of a square dowel that is removable from one of the corners of the box (but not obvious, like maybe pulls out from the bottom). And if you made the dowel the same size as that button, it would add a layer of misdirection, like they would think its a key. Obviously, this is all easier in theory than in practice, but you're definitely on to something. Keep it up!

Place the box vertically.
Turn the top dial until you hear the ball drops.
Repeat for dial 2 and 3.
Push button. Use magnets to pop open box. Like poles repel.
You should grant the user of the box to set his own password to unlock , by changing the direction of the disc from behind. Make it removable . It makes more innovative.

Cheat solution: just push with a stick thingy further in the button on the side, and it will open, thus avoiding the text-puzzle part.
You don't need to align all 3 - you only need to align the last one so that the ball rolls into the chamber on the cylinder closest to where it is initially trapped- in order to open it.
That when you press the button NOTHING HAPPENS 😲😮😯 MIND BLOWN XD

actually, had the toggle been replaced with a magnetic stick, it would have been part of the puzzle.. just retract the magnetic stick from the hole, turn the clocks, put the stick back in and push

I only couldn't figure out because of the magnet but as soon as you said it needed a magnet everything else made sense.
you only need to solve the bottom one if that gets lined up and you tilt it you and press the button since the ball will be out of the way.

All that is needed is to put the first dial in the right position so the ball will move. The other two don't have to move at all . I guess it is a good misdirection.

I guesses that you needed a magnet and that the words on the side meant something but I couldn't figure out the hidden message. Also, usually puzzle boxes don't need anything that didn't come with the puzzle box to open it.

Did anyone else think the numbers elicited from the text would be 3, 3, 6? The 'w' in "want" and the 'w' in "know" are VERY 3-ish to me on their sides, and what clued me in to looking for more numbers at all was that the small but capitalized 'G' in "forget" looks very 6-ish, and why is it written in capital script when it is in the middle of a word? Oh! It's clearly a 6! That was my train of thought, which to me is even MORE intuitive because if those WERE the clues, those numbers are literally written right there, in order even! And pointing the dots directly right, right, and down, may be a little less nebulous in practice in solving it instead of trying to imagine correctly where the 1 2 and 4 are. But I like his as well, his is even MORE difficult, in my opinion.
