I would love to see your take on the house of Nicolai. Patricia has really taken the heritage of Guerlain and released some bangers! Nicolai is what Guerlain should be today. New York Intense, Number One Intense and Patchouli Intense are probably some of the finest perfumes created in the 2000s. Definately worth a try if you love Guerlain and what it stands for
the best video ever !!!! thanks for recommending Guerlain´s best classics!!!! .... so glad to see you together in the video!!!!! perfect, brilliant ... that a real vibe!!!
Glad to see you two back reviewing together. I would love to re-watch the Hermes vid you did together, I barely knew the line at the time but now I'm deep into Hermes and would love to compare notes.
Although Im not a fan of Guerlain, Malle and Chanel perfumes, I highly admire your sense for business because all 3 companies have a massive investment potential which can be already seen these days. I wish I could foresee it too. Your bonus is that you really love your perfumes so it is an instant win-win. I put my money mostly on Dior, L`Artisan, TF and Creed and time will tell if I make some money out of it in the future. Take care and have fun. edit: I have only vintage SDV, Encens Mythique, LIDGE and L`Homme Ideal. Sold around 8 Malle bottles and never owned Chanel Exclusifs as they were too feminine for my taste.
We built a home 20 years ago and I called the house Chamade ....after the fragrance and the meaning of the word .... Back in the late 80s to mid 90s I worked in store for Dior ....but shared an area with Guerlain, and I was obsessed with the Guerlain Fragrance range I just love them ...
Eugen... I love your channel and totally respect your opinion. I’ve learned so much from watching you over the years and became a Guerlain girl.... but I LOVE that Maison Lancôme 2016 collection with the Lavandes Trianon and it might be worth revisiting down the road... Like Maria I’m not a fan of Lavender but like the above. Oud Ambrosie, Santal kardamon, Tuberose Castane... all beautiful
Guerlain Vertiver , habit rouge , heritage are my absolute all time favourites from that house , I think you should try geo f trumper sandlewood my friend , it’s very refined barbershop in London and the owner loved egoiste so much he had it copied using the absolute best ingredients making it smell like vintage egoiste but with far better quality ingredients and it lasts for ever
Thanks for keeping some of these classics relevant. Reminds me of introducing younger kids to Dylan , The Stones, and Pink Floyd. So much of it is context but so much of it is also good is just good always and forever! I still do not have Heritage and will buy it today because of this video. I am guessing you recommend the EDT?? I will use it for daytime work wear, I am a dentist so I usually go for less projection and better longevity which is usually the EDP. Thanks again for your artistry!
Eugen, I discovered your channel while searching YT for reviews of Guerlain's Vetiver. The first video of yours that I watched was the one from your 12 Days of Guerlain series, in which Maria rated the Guerlain masculines (not the exclusives). I was hooked! Watching this video did indeed feel like coming home. : )
I was able to find a vintage bottle of the extrate of Vol de nuit, and man do I love it wish there was more juice in the bottle, if I can find a new bottle I will get that too, and I found it at a sally ann for $10 out of the 50 ml there was about 15 ml left.
I may pick up L'Heure Bleue at the shop in Chinatown, soon. I like it!..You guarantee that, I can learn lots from studying it, right? Maria...BR 540, Give it a go and let us know!
Just had a backup of Habit Rouge edt come in today. Originally had a 200 mL of the silver cap version, but after using up about half of the red cap 100 mL, I prefer the red cap blend on my skin. Of course, the new listerine Heritage edt very much smoothed out from the 2012 formulation. More of a slightly spicy patchouli soap with a dash of orange. Still great performing, but missing a great deal of character.
I believe Maria would enjoy more unisex and masculines than feminine leaning frags based on her likes in the past and her sensitivity to florals....how about Roja Dove fragrances?
I think you got me wanting to try these classics, which is strange because I don't like the classic or dated perfumes I've smelled. I think as my nose has grown, I want to find more sophisticated scents. The few Roja's I've smelled have peaked that curiosity
Great video and better from a house in starting to love more and more... eugen you should try and do first impression of Francesca biachi omg is so delicious and well made is like smelling guerlain in a niche way or artesanal tiger tiger is like mitsouko lover lovers tale omg bomb 💣 everything is so good under my skin leather but human animalic smell
Took a shower and sprayed the only Guerlain I have in my small collection, which is Vetiver, without knowing I was going to be watching this video, what a coincidence!!.Can anyone please tell me,if any,the differences between the current Guerlain's Vetiver and the one Eugen showed?
@U Smells Good tnx for the amazing review. Can you tell me what is the difference between gold cap EDT Heritage that you reviewed 6 years ago and this vintage EDP version? Which one do you prefer, and why? Thank you
Interesting isn't it? We have fragrances that cost multiple times what these do, yet I'm constantly drawn back to them because they always challenge me, and teach me things. Wearing Jicky this morning 👌
it would be brilliant to know what Maria thinks about Frederic Malle (Musc Ravageur, Portrait of a Lady, French Lover etc.) and Chanel Les Exclusive - Coromandel ....
Hi Eugen, it is always very satisfying and delighted to hear when some one like stature of yours praises house of Guerlain, which truly deserve its duly respect. will be interesting to experience others but def habit rouge, vetiver and hertiage are phenomenal scents.. thoughts on discontinued Guerlain l homme ideal cologne?
You seem to know a lot about perfume, can you tell me why they would put that that in a fragrance cat glands things it would make it smell like cat P? Could it be that people smelled worse than that?
@Kathleen Donahue the modern interpretations of these classic perfumes have been reformulated numerous times since being created, truth is that originally its highly likely they would have been considerably more complex and stronger in some aspects. Another consideration is that at the time the older perfumes were created people didn't bathe or wash their clothes as often as we modern folk do now, there are lots of references in old literature about this.
Love Maria. was it a deliberate act to spray Guerlains on Chanel papers? Jicky has civet, fragrantica doesn't state so but while wearing it (edp) I get the civet. Mitsouko? no, I hate it and I never got the peach note :( Shalimar, great love, no words to describe it. Vol de Nuit, beautiful, shame it's toned down. Samsara, another great love powdery but not in the Shalimar sense, and the creamy sandalwood, a bomb. Habit Rouge edt, best version, agreed, mind you the Guerlain assistant thought it was some kind of an oud based scent, she couldn't recognise it on me, that was after 8 hours of wearing it, lemon, leather and rose. a dream, Monsieur Guerlain once mentioned that Habit Rouge was the first oud without oud, very ahead of its time, mind you they say, if you like Habit Rouge you don't like Vetiver and I don't. Heritage is ok. Maria you are fine, no need to say you are not as descriptive, we all love you. love this presentation. Please more vids of you two.
Hi Maria! Eugen, grateful for all videos you put out, but can't help but ask...are we soon to get Maria's reactions to the Les Exclusifs and/or Frederic Malles? Appreciate ya both : )
Habit Rouge is my favorite- in the silver cap. When they went to the red cap, they reformulated it without coumarin and without benzoin compounds. It’s tragic. Whoever made that decision should be banished. Anyway, I really enjoy heading you and Maria discuss Guerlain.
If I had a penny every single time someone says 'what is that fragrance you are wearing' or 'that is a strong fragrance' giving me a bad face, I would have retired by now. f*ck them lol, what do they know?
Hi Maria, the first women who make me buy jubilation xxv.. May your family be blessed with good health, happiness and prosperity. Eugen where is your co partner aka kristo
So, you are reviewing top notes only, first few sprays and call it a review of a fragrance? Shouldn't you know better and go through top, mid and base notes to appreciate the fragrance? No surprise that Maria called Vetiver a nail polish. Judging the Guerlain fragrances by the blast of top notes on a paper is not a good look and this does not add to your both reviewers credibility.
Good video
1:10 Jicky
3:27 l’huere bleu
5:30 mitsouko
7:02 shalimar
10:02 vol de nuit
12:08 chamade
13:37 samsara

Great vid. No one talks Guerlain as well but coincidentally Wafts from the Loft have also posted a 55 min worth on their top Guerlain
I would love to see your take on the house of Nicolai. Patricia has really taken the heritage of Guerlain and released some bangers! Nicolai is what Guerlain should be today. Maria is 100% correct that Guerlain Vetiver opening smells like nail polish remover. I wonder how fragrance reviewers missed that note.
After years of you enjoying perfumes eugen, I enjoyed the part that Maria finally understood the fragcomms craziness
the best video ever !!!! thanks for recommending Guerlain´s best classics!!!! .... so glad to see you together in the video!!!!! perfect, brilliant ... that a real vibe!!!

I love Maria and her honesty

Loved the video. Personally a fan of l’heure bleue.
Excellent video and best house from best reviewer. Lovely video with you and Maria for my favorite house. Blessinvs
Love your reviews. Thank you. I’ve recently become intrigued by Guerlain’s heritage perfumes. Jicky and L’HUERE Blu but now I want to try Heritage.
Love when you do this Guerlain videos!!
Glad to see you two back reviewing together. I would love to re-watch the Hermes vid you did together, I barely knew the line at the time but now I'm deep into Hermes and would love to compare notes.
I get the guerlainade.... patchouli right up front ! With heritage....who knows I love it nevertheless! Great 👍 video Sir

Guerlain Vetiver has a really medicinal opening on my skin, camphor and lemon balm. Which I absolutely love! Then the mid and dry down are even better

Eugen, joined by his fellow perfume snob Maria! I need Chamade in my life. Right now.
I need you on the sofa, come!
no L'Instant? come on :)
You still have those Areej Le Dore and Feel Oud samples? See if Maria wants to try those. That would be fun!
I really enjoyed this video. Especially your discussion of the art of perfumery at the conclusion. Hello and welcome to Maria.

Please make it a bit clearer if you're talking about EDP/T etc. You rarely do and I get a bit lost.
I love heritage it’s such a handsome smell but for the life of me i can’t stand vetiver which is strange because i’m a vetiver nut 🤔

@@steveb8269 yes I know but adding something that smells like cat piss to your already on cleansed body and clothes seems counterintuitive at best
It was used as a fixative back then.
