    Nahema is Celestial....
The fantastic ingredients probably makes it the costliest perfume in the world.

What no comments!? This is my house! I am a lot older than you, but I love that you also love vintage and classic perfumes so much. I have a huge vintage collection as a result along with some niche and designer too. My first perfumes were chypres and the first "serious" perfume I bought for myself in the late 80s was Mitsouko and I saved up and bought a small 1/4 oz or 1/2oz of the pure extrait every year and it became my signature. Then I discovered Shalimar, Jicky and Vol de Nuit but my true loves are always Mitsouko and Shalimar first. Thank you! ox Julia

Thank you so much for watching my video! I love Mitsouko... probably because of the Rose, Jasmine and vetiver combination. Shalimar is too soft for me, but it is a beautiful oriental. I LOVE Habit Rouge, the only perfume that turns me on on a man. I am thinking to do a review about this one, which I like to wear during the winter.Jicky and Vol de Nuit are also very nice. In general, Guerlain perfumes are very iconic!

Ooh, I just adore Mitsouko and Shalimar too! Also Vol de Nut is a big love for me. Guerlain is my favourite house. Eventhough I have a large collection of around 180 different perfumes & various brands, I always come back to my two favourites Mitsouko and Shalimar! I prefer the Eau de Perfume of Mitsouko, so deep and rich. Also the edu of Shalimar, but I also wear the edt's of both too.
      Warm wishes from Australia! 😊🇦🇺

The sandalwood dry down in the new Samsara comes very late. The flowers are very faint. Almost ethereal. I like the flowers but I wish I could smell the faint sandalwood closet smell alongside. Sadly it also doesn't have any perceptible rose.
But I do like it for what it is, just wish I could get the old version.

    • @Aliceinparisofficial
      @Aliceinparisofficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes the old version was strongest on the sandalwood. If you want a strong sandalwood perfume with rose, try Rouge by Hermès ❤️

I would highly recommend you to discover "Chamade" and "L'heure Bleue" as well. They are 'must haves' and absolutely gorgeous! 'L'heure Bleue' was the signature perfume of Brigitte Bardot in her younger years (maybe even now) and also the favorite perfume of Queen Elizabeth II throughout her life. (QE II also liked Mitsouko.) I think you will find Chamade and L'heure Bleue very interesting and to your pleasing.

Very iconic oriental. Super original because shalimar is not really ambery and warm. It’s a very soft powdery oriental

I am relishing this video, Alice. You truly convey the heart of each of these gorgeous scents. I personally started my Guerlain journey with Jicky, which was worn by a glamorous, beautiful Parisian girl who moved to NYC years ago. Monique wore Jicky and I associate every good thing with that fragrance now. I have a bottle of the perfume and the eau de parfum, very hard to find now. I like Mitsouko now, best. I like opulence and I like chypre. I plan to get Nahema and L'Heure Bleue next. Thank you so much for this! I ran in and put on Samsara the minute you described it.

@@Aliceinparisofficial I'd love to know what you think of 'Mamluk' and 'Shunkoin' by Xerjoff. Both ultra powdery, very unique acquired tastes. You either like them or you don't. 'Mamluk' smells like desiccated honey; instead of the syrupy sweet liquid honey, imagine if you could turn it into a solid and finely grate it into powder, pure finely milled REAL honey dust. 'Shunkoin' smells like sandalwood with a vanilla MILKshake gushing over it eternally, the wooden bowl that's been part of a a never-ending vanilla milkshake fountain. Really unusual and the profile only suits a very particular taste I think. With both of them, the treat is the dry down not that first 15 minutes after spraying. They'd be lovely after a long bath in the winter, a cosy warm vanilla-wood-honey-musk vibe that makes your pyjamas smell ultra cosy and sweet. The third fragrance to include in this 'set' would be 'Milky Musk' by Parle Moi. I almost added 'Remember Me' by Jovoy which is suggested as a lactonic, milky warm scent too but to my nose there's a sharp, raspy 'hairspray' note running through it and I can almost taste it in the back of my throat when I spray it. It ruins the creamy, plush, sweet milky profile completely. PS=Best 'hot sugared chestnut puree & milk' fragrance is BY FAAAAAR Jovoy's 'Marron' candle. The best most unique gourmand candle I've tried in ages. Also recommend 'Secret Amber' candle by Welton London.

The vintage Nahema has a prominent smell of yellow rose which was later exhanged for pink roses. Not a big problem, but it made the vintage appear somewhat more "juicy" than the present version. Still it's a unique masterpiece. Unforgettable. Nahema glows in the dark. Soft, fruity peach and apricot, yellow rose, the darker ylang-ylang and oriental notes,- it's so complex. The top notes, middle notes and bottom notes are unfolding and opening in the most amazing way, each step rewarding a new step of beauty and exitement to the senses. It's beautiful for day wear and fits easily any time of the day /night. Throughout the years countless men and women have politely asked me which perfume I'm wearing, always highly praising it. Nahema is a work of art. I wish it was "discovered", because Guerlain himself concidered Nahema to be his finest creation of all time.

It is not every day that I encounter someone with the same exact taste in perfume. I am so glad I discovered your channel. Your love of perfume is contagious. Not sure if you are familiar with the original D&G Sicily, I think you will love it if you can find it (not the re-release by the way). If you love YSL Yvresse (Champagne) as I do, you will fall in love with Sicily. I would love it if you could do a review of it by the way. Merci from San Francisco!

Hello thank you so much for your nice comment! It's so funny someone's else in the comment mentioned Sicily perfume. I did a review of Champagne in two of my videos the first one and the party perfumes. I discovered Champagne/Yvresses when I was a student and I fall in love with the zinggy, sparkling fruity notes. I will make a whole review of this perfume because it is a hidden gem. I will try to find a vintage bottle of Sicily and make a review of it.

You look exceptionally beautiful in this video. The diffused light is very flattering and your face took me by surprise here-- the same but different 🙃😍. Your videos along with Amy's at 'Savor Salvage Scent' have inspired me to take a deeper dive next time I'm at the Guerlain counter at Harrods. I'm also excited to visit the Guerlain flagship boutique in Paris, despite the infamously rude sales assistants. I'll take the risk, rude sales assistants don't genuinely rattle me the same way they do some gentle souls. 😣✌

Only 33 comments on this video! That's a crime! My favorite perfume house! I've tried to collect every Shalimar I can get my hands on for a decent price, the EDC, the EDT, the EDP, Parfum Initial, Eau de Shalimar, Philtre de Parfum, Souffle de Parfum, Souffle de Lumiere, Souffle Intense and the Parfum of Shalimar, preferably vintage. It's intoxicating, yet relaxing.

Alice, you need to find a bottle of original (I believe 90's/2000's) D&G Sicily. The new one has been reformulated (Monica Bellucci was the face of the ads). I have no doubt it will become one of your top 10, knowing your taste!

@@Aliceinparisofficial D&G reformulated it in 2018 or 2019, and now it's part of their exclusive line and is sold for over $300 at Harrod's London. I have a bottle of the new one as well; it is more citrusy, yet it has the original's DNA. You can still find the original on eBay; I keep buying used bottles on eBay when I see one being sold. To me, the original is much better, soft aldehydes and white florals but w/ a banana twist, also powdery w/ some citrus, very unique and lasts forever. Let me know what you think.

Guerlain is beautiful but the prices have just gone through the roof and the bottle is 70% alcohol and water-- how expensive can a few drops of essential oil be? The profit margin is huge!!

    • @elowyn9664

The classics are still affordable. Except for the special art editions of some of them, like the Lily of the Valley and some others. However, the new line created by Delphine Jelk is insanely expensive. There is absolutely no excuse for such a pricerange, - especially since these scents are very simple, flat and one dimensional, with a boring structure of 1-3 ingredients. (I recieved miniatures of 3 of them and they are 'stinkers') Personally I think Jelk is a disgrace to the house of Guerlain.
