3 different ways to help babies stand up because helping babies to learn how to stand on their own and transition from floor to standing is so important. Babies typically use all of these versions to get off of the floor. They will typically use the half kneel to stand position when pulling to stand on a stable surface, as it’s much more difficult to stabilize their pelvis without holding on. Half kneel to standing without support can happen in a wide variety of ages but usually between the ages of 2-4 years old. If a child has difficulty maintaining a half kneel position, there is likely core weakness involved.

Can you make a video where you physically assist a child in doing this? All of these concepts are great, but how do you get a kid (like, a 1 year old) into the positions they need to be and help them follow through with the motion so that they learn it?

Hi Cgerjato! Thank you so much for your comment. I do agree, it can be much harder in practice than it is in theory. I do have a few pull to stand videos coming out soon and I will move them up so hopefully they come out within the next month. Another option that is always available is an online consultation with me where we can work together to go over a few things to hopefully get you on your way in feeling successful in implementing these strategies. You can book that anytime, here: drlaurenbaker.clientsecure.me/request/service

Cgerjato, I would also recommend this video because it will strengthen the hip and core muscles and you might find after working on tall kneeling (as I show on a real little one) that a kiddo is starting to transition into standing on their own with less prompting. The kiddo in this video is younger than 1 year old but I use these principles on kiddos all the way up to 5+ th-cam.com/video/tpQsWS4TRFI/w-d-xo.html

Cgerjato, I also wanted to share an online course that my PT bestie Hope has for parents that are working on helping their kiddos walk. This might be similar to what you’re looking for too movingmunchkins.thinkific.com/courses/GYMM use “drlaurenbaker” for $5 off

Cgerjato, I’ll be editing a video on this topic this month. If you want to send me an email lauren@drlaurenbaker.com I can make sure it gets to you when it’s live.

Hi Jyoti, I apologize for the delay in my response. I hope this is still helpful for you. Yes, this exercise would absolutely help a toddler/three year old with lower muscle tone get up from the floor by themselves. I have a few other exercises, I would recommend as well --
