      Part of the issues with NDAs is that everyone always assumes something illegal is happening. These can just as easily be NDAs because the Chairman of a billion dollar company doesn’t need the public knowing he has cuckolding fetishes or a weird agreement with his wife for the last 30 years.

      Vince felt that he got betrayed so he just didn't finish the payments. He paid 1 million probably to keep it under the radar of the corporate oversight.
      Signing the nda on behalf of wwe incorrectly, that's actually a great legal strategy. Most people, even lawyers, may not clue in that it's incorrect. If it actually goes to court it insulates the wwe from prosecution and that's where Vince has his money. He'd be open for legal challenge, but the wwe may be safe.

You hear it a lot in funeral eulogies, e.g. "he was a man that everyone in town knew and few forgot", "many remember him most fondly as a child”, "a strong-willed man who knew the value of a good deal", "he taught his children to be stronger", "his family hopes that Christ may finally guide him", "he was called home" (i.e. Hell), “he ascended to his eternal reward”.

If there was nothing to the allegations WWE/TKO/Endeavor would have circled the wagons and said “There’s nothing to this, these are fabrications and lies, we staunchly support Vince,” but they absolutely didn’t do that. You knew the jig was up as soon as Laurenitis’s lawyer stated that “my client is ALSO a victim.” Johnny Ace just confirmed it’s all true because he didn’t deny doing anything that’s been alleged, he said he did it on Vince’s orders. So if you don’t want to believe the women, believe the man that’s throwing Vince under the bus to save his own ass. He’s not saying “that never happened,” he’s saying “I did it because Vince told me to do it and he was there”.

    In the "Thank you Vince" chant, the audience begins it, Stephanie stops it so she can call for it moments later. However, if you look at her face as she is chanting, she looks like she is in pain or discomfort, even when mouthing "I love you dad". It didn't look like love was the emotion she was feeling. Maybe I am seeing more than is there... .anybody else take a look and see the same thing?

    I think in the years to come we will see interviews with all kinds of WWE staff saying things like "of course we all knew what Vince was up to, but we couldn't say anything because our careers would have been over". That's what happened with Jimmy Savile. They didn't know exactly what he was doing, but they had a pretty good idea. The thing was that Jimmy Savile had connections up to and including The Royal Family. He was untouchable. Vince has had very close relationships with several former US Presidents and foreign heads of state, now the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia. He has that money and those connections and he's avoided any kind of justice for decades. I doubt he was like this in the 90s because he had competition. As soon as he bought out WCW, the WWE had a monopoly which meant that Vince could do whatever he wanted as he had all the power.

    I think Brian assumes too much. The fact that most of this stuff just went unknown for years means Vince kept it mostly close to the chest. My assumption is that only the absolute closest knew the deepest details (ie: Vince, Janel, Johnny Ace, and maybe Bruce or Kevin Dunn) but outside of that I think mostly everyone else probably just thought Vince had a side piece and was vulgar. They probably wanted him out for a number of reasons including his behavior. But I’m certain they weren’t aware of the criminalities of Vince’s actions. They probably just thought he had a mistress working at the office and then paid her hush money not knowing the extent of it. None of these people were powerless and I’m sure they wanted him gone. If anyone that actually didn’t want Vince around knew about this stuff they would’ve used it to get rid of him. I think Jim is far more accurate with his belief that the call was coming from inside the house. Either Shane, Stephanie, or possibly Hunter leaked this to WSJ because it needed to get out. I’d assume they just found out and had no real power to remove Vince because Hunter is far under Vince as head of creative, and Stephanie and Shane no longer work for the company.

I wonder if the stress of learning about all of this (on top of the already enormous stress of running NXT and making Vince happy) triggered HHH’s ‘cardiac episode’. Even if it simply appears or seems that way to Stephanie, it’d make sense why THAT would be the final straw for her to where she hasn’t worked in the same company with Vince ever since; viewing it as Vince’s antics have now finally begun to hurt other family and what SHE has built. Like she could pretend it didn’t exist if other people were hurt, but once it’s once of her own being affected-even only tangentially-then mama bear comes out and severs ties with her own father. If anyone's got time, go back to the March 5th, 2001 episode of Raw. The infamous dog barking segment with Vince and Trish Stratus. The way the segment unfolds is exactly how Janel Grant's lawsuit reads.
    Upon learning Trish is an aspiration starlet "willing to do anything", Vince begins to give her special treatment & expensive gifts. Vince admits to a sexual relationship with her and manipulates Trish with power and money. He then forces her to disrobe to prove her loyalty & "how sorry she is". Vince makes her bark like a dog on all fours & forces her to disrobe down to almost nothing.
    I know it's wrestling and it was a long time ago. But it's literally how Janel Grant describes her encounters with Vince McMahon.
    Considering Vince had full autonomy over this piece of television, this was his idea.
    If Vince was comfortable & arrogant enough to put this segment on TV for millions and a crowd of 10,000, imagine what he was doing in his actual personal life.

      @Hedgehobbit 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I don't think it was because Vince couldn't afford it, but more likely that Vince knew that he was being watched. I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out that Vince was texting the woman telling her to wait a little longer.

    • @douglasmurphy3266
      @douglasmurphy3266 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      #1 He didn't become rich by paying people, and that mindset of holding onto every dollar doesn't die easily just because he now has the means.
      #2 He probably has a disconnect from reality on what is a lot of money to "regular people", he is probably thinking she should be set for life off the $750k or whatever he already gave her, probably thinks all of his talents were well compensated, etc.
      #3 He was largely a billionaire in theory only. The "cashflow" explanation actually has merit, in that the money he actually had at his disposal from dividends, other investments, salaries, etc put him in a very wealthy class, but only in the tens of millions, not even over a hundred. He only recently cashed out about a quarter of his piece of the company for the $750M to hedge his bets against the madness that is about to ensue, hoping the rest of his stake dramatically rises but knowing there is a possibility of it all going to crap knowing what he knows. The biggest withdrawl from his leveraged wealth previous to this was the $60-$80 million range he put into Linda's senate campaigns.
      He wasn't even spending his own money on these sechs affairs, he was misappropriating company funds for them. His appearance as a billionaire, aside from personal assets such as homes, were mostly financed by the company as business expenses. $3m of personal cash would still have made a huge dent in his personal "cashflow" for something that has no tangible return on investment.
      That being said, not paying the rest after getting caught is a horribly dumb lapse in judgment (in terms of financial risk, of course the actual behavior is the dumbest).
