I had waited for a long time to watch this Hindi version. It lived up to my expectations. Girish and Jaya Prada did justice to their roles. I have never expected that my North Brothers and Sisters will be so enamoured by this movie. The comments are ample proof. I invite them to see our original Telugu version too. I assure them our language Telugu would not be an impediment to enjoy and applaud the movie. Infact Art itself is a Universal Language. This movie itself is an ample proof of that fact. Blessed are the Producers, Director, Cast and Crew of this great movie. Special appteciation to the Music Directors, Playback Singers and lyric writers. They all are immortalised through both these versions - SANKARABHARANAM and SUR SANGAM

I am a Telugu and have watched Shankar-abharanam more than 20times, was curious if it was remade in other languages too and found the Hindi version today. Seems like the director tried to carry the same emotion in the Hindi version too. All of Shri K. Vishwanath's movies extraordinary. They are not normal movies - they only talk about human evolution and how one can reach the state of Advaita (god) I am sure how much ever one can express, it is still very less to talk about such masterpieces. I really don’t want to call this a movie and make other movies eligible to be compared with this. I really wish for people to be mature enough to understand and make such masterpiece a part of themselves. Namaskaram!

When I first heard the songs of this film I felt they were deep and thought the film must be very emotional. But to my surprise it was beyond. I found it peaceful instead of emotional. The scenes were also shot in extremely pure and peaceful places. Never thought I would have such an impression of this film. Truly a classic and very deep. Thank you for uploading 🙏

Settled in Hyderabad as a child and managed to learn Telugu. Watched this movie in both Hindi and Telugu and each time the songs manage to sway my heart.

Girish Karnad and Somayajulu in the Telugu version have superbly portrayed this characteristic of simple living and high thinking, a modern mind unshackled by traditions and customs while upholding them. Hats off to the movie makers, cast, musicians, singers and choreographers.

What a movie. I think this movie is women centric in its true sense. सहनशीलता, tolerance of both women in movie, Tulsi and Sharda underlined the great ness of Shankara. This movie is having so many layers of emotions.

The Hindi version does not even come close to the Telugu original. Just compare the "Sankara" song which SPB sang. That was amazing. The Hindi version of that song does not have the same melodramatic effect. Hard to beat SPB sir. G.K> is a very good actor but in this case he was outmatched by Somayajulu.
During 1985-86 Jayaprada acted in several movies doing roles that were meant for Rekha. Mera Saathi, Sur Sangam, Haisiyat, Sanjog. In three of the movies, Jayaprada played an older woman for almost half the movie. This pushed her into the older actress category . This also resulted in Rekha losing out on these movies and she had only 3 releases in 1985 compared to 7-10 in most earlier years. Rekha retaliated by befriending Jayaprada's arch rival Sridevi, giving her makeup tricks. Rekha then reinvented herself by acting mainly in heroine dominated movies like Jaal, Insaaf ki Awaz and Khoon Bhari Maang.

The Hindi version does not even come close to the Telugu original. Just compare the "Sankara" song which SPB sang. That was amazing. The Hindi version of that song does not have the same melodramatic effect. Hard to beat SPB sir. G.K> is a very good actor but in this case he was outmatched by Somayajulu.

During 1985-86 Jayaprada acted in several movies doing roles that were meant for Rekha. Mera Saathi, Sur Sangam, Haisiyat, Sanjog. In three of the movies, Jayaprada played an older woman for almost half the movie. This pushed her into the older actress category . This also resulted in Rekha losing out on these movies and she had only 3 releases in 1985 compared to 7-10 in most earlier years. Rekha retaliated by befriending Jayaprada's arch rival Sridevi, giving her makeup tricks. Rekha then reinvented herself by acting mainly in heroine dominated movies like Jaal, Insaaf ki Awaz and Khoon Bhari Maang.
Jayaprada is naturally beautiful while Rekha is plaster of beauty. She could never do justice such role.

those who have seen this can see the original Telugu version also even if you don't know the language as you know all the dialogues; they are more or less the same in the original Telugu version also.
