I had a similar thing. I made the decision to stop buying items that needed a lot of processing to be listed (cleaning, repairing, lots of testing, even just too much research etc) because those are the items that end up taking up too much time that could be spent elsewhere. Also, those items often just end up in the ‘death pile’ and contribute to you feeling overwhelmed because there’s so much that you haven’t done. It made a massive difference. I still pick them up occasionally but they have to be interesting and have to give me significant profit otherwise it’s just not worth my time.
there's definately something in this. If time is limited and there is an abundance on stock then you can chose to be more picky. I don't pick up large items as I know that I'll struggle to store and pack. I don't generally pick up clothes because I hate listing them. Its great when you can be a bit choosy
I understand your challenges with part-time reselling, especially with a young family and working full time. Balancing your time can be tough, I made it worse when I started to do a house conversion from a bungalow to a dormer. I had no time at all then!. You’re doing a brilliant job managing this part-time. Including TH-cam but it is always a good idea for a change. I’ve done the same, reviewing all the low-quality stock, removing around 50 items, and fine-tuning some aspects, set packing / listing days helps. Thanks for eveything you share and keep up the good work :)! Cheers, Ben
It’s tough doing both and working full time. Even harder trying to start out. I respect the grind. All that hard work pays off though. Keep up the brilliant videos 😊
Missed buddy, I'm glad you had a great holiday, and I hope you get sorted with everything else it sounds like you have talked it through with all the family moving forward. Keep up the great work
I feel this bro, I’m right there with you, juggling work eBay TH-cam and more is proper burnout territory.. glad you’ve made the change, excited for what’s to come. I also need to make some serious changes to juggle it all
Glad you and family had a great holiday, Ian. Some good decisions here as you were "juggling a lot of balls"! ; I'm so glad that your family are supporting you and your Ebay business, which is clearly founded on a passion for toys. Suspect your sales will very shortly be accelerating skywards! Of course, if you get tired sitting editing, you could eventually sub contract that as well?! Hope you all have a fun week!
theyve always been behind my ebayying... now they want to get more involved. Yes I know a few of the other reseller youtubers have editors. not looked into it myself as I don't make enough off youtube to justify it really
For a minute (looking at the tag pic) I thought you were going to stroll down the beach in your trunks, sipping southern comfort😂 (for those younger members there’s a classic southern comfort ad). We love watching you Ian, the master, trunks or not!
A break from this crazy hobby is definitely needed at times. Balancing full-time work, family life, as well as your other pastimes really can be a bit daunting, particularly as eBay is seemingly becoming more and more needy as time progresses. You're spot on in saying even committing a decent amount of time to achieve the bare minimum can be fruitless, but hopefully with your family on board, things will become easier to juggle in no time. Looks like you had a great time away too. I'm guessing you found the Bideford shirts not too far from the "white town". 😁
yeah i had to put something in place. tbh its youtube that i'm finding is becoming more timeconsuming and that's taking the time out of ebay... but then its only me that can do the youtube side of things whereas others can come in and take on the ebay bits. Ha I love Bideford, great town!
I had a lot of Tim two think while I was away too, I also need a change to my eBay but that’s just down to me making time and getting organised. If those diesel jeans are Larkees then they go for around £25-£30, if they are zathans or zatiny then you can bang another tenner onthem easy. Good luck with your eBay changes
Hi Ian Love your channel. I get that you believe the changes will help your business grow, which I guess raises the questions why are you growing it and where does it ultimate lead ?
Great question... and I don't know the answer to the end goal. I know that having more hands on deck will naturally produce some sort of growth (a lot of reselling is down to the time put in selling the every day grind). I think we'll find a new natural rhythem that will establish a new benchmark... and can then decide what to do from there. It's still planned to be very much a side income though
I think I got a couple of those Bideford shirts last year when I went on holiday. We all go to Westward Ho every year, did you go to north Devon. The strange thing is that I always go to the big car boot in Bideford and then in the year that follows I have probably sold 10-15 things to people that live Bideford! Including some of the things I got from the car boot after coming all the way back to Herefordshire!
Ha perhaps they dump their shirts in every season then. Yeah we were up in North Devon for a bit. Ha strange that it goes back to bideford, I always love stuff like that
Great variety on your holidays pickups. If you're down Stroud way on bank holiday Monday, there's Victory Park carboot, Chalford carboot + the Stroud Yard Trail all on the same day :)
@@MasterofPieces Dursley car boot at Norman Hill on Saturday 7.30am, Southam car boot Cheltenham on Sunday 8am - behind the racecourse, Wotton car boot Sunday 1.30pm.
Ian have you tried to scheduling your listings to go on every day l have tried it and it seemed to work with me. Also the green Nike trainers they are screaming fake. Also are you going to ebay open in Sept?
this'll be something that we'll test. I've not scheduled listings before and just set them live. Ha I've not looked into the trainers beyond picking them up. Not sure about the ebay open tbh...
I got like this a few years ago didn't do out about it and my eBay isn't a business anymore so make the changes you need ... Are you open to a trade for them mad ballz you give me a value you want and I will put a mystery box together for the value we agree on it you fancy it
Sorry mate just tried to search you up see master if pieces and comes up a load for f definitely not you kinda people what’s your link or name on there?
I think this is a very wise decision, it will help your eBay store progress and you will be less likely to suffer from burnout. Keep up the great work, I always enjoy watching your videos!
just being honest here, why put so much effort into Socials? It's going to make you a fraction of the money if you were putting that time into ebay. Look, if you enjoy it, fair enough, but your doing it for clicks and likes, not for cash.
I've got people who are avaliable to help on the ebay side of things... but it's only me who can do the socials. I need to put my time where its best spent
@@MasterofPieces That's my point, is your time best spent on socials in an already saturated viewing market place? If it's not about the money and just enjoying yourself, I get it. I enjoy your content and have met you a couple times so good luck with it all.
I don't think you can discount the money from socials. TH-cam contributes about 25% of my youtube/ebay profits and its been a pretty consistent return over the past 2 years. I also don't have enough consistant stock to keep me and someone else busy on ebay... thats why i'm thinking hand over the ebay to someone whos not distracted by youtube and I keep that steady youtube income stream going.
Personally it step back from TH-cam and concentrate on your business,if anything TH-cam is just creating needless competition 10000 other people looking for the same stuff you are and I wouldn’t give free postage when you are selling such low priced items.

I've always seen ebay and youtube as a pendulum. When ones busy the other drops off. Both now though are requiring more and more time
