If I have already made several display states, and turn on link to configurations, the display states are not always on the correct configuration. Is there a way to move the display states to the correct configuration? or do I have to start all over?

I have wondered about this myself. Unfortunately, I don't have a good answer. I will need to do some testing to find out.

Solid Byte if you find out I would love to know - I have been trying different things but so far nothing works - there is a copy function when selecting display states but there doesnt seem to be a way to paste it.

I have found that you can copy a display state, activate a new configuration, and then hit ctrl+v to paste a display state. There is no paste option upon right-clicking, another one of Solidworks’ quirks! You can safely ignore the error message. Beyond that, I don’t know of any easier way to assign display states after the fact. Hope this helps. Anyway, I have sworn off using display states:)

Yes, when I activated a new configuration and hit Ctrl + V, a copy of the display state appears. I just dismiss the error message that says that item cannot be pasted here. (I am using Solidworks 2016.)

Hi Robert, thanks for the suggestion. I have been meaning to do a template vs sheet format video for some time now. I have been doing research and gathering material but have not gotten around to doing it yet. It is another one of those things that is unnecessarily complicated and a lot of users struggle with it. Stay tuned.
