HI i have created a configuration table for my part, now i want to add the same table in solidworks drawing for that part but i dont know how to add, i dont want to use design table as i don't have excel.
When you say you want to add the table in the drawing, how do you mean? Design tables typically reference a single version of a part(or assembly). the data in the table isn't generally used in a drawing table. If there are parameters driving your designs you need in a note or something that is a bit different. When you place a drawing view, the view properties on the left side in the feature manager at the very bottom have a "more properties" button. in the properties for the view you can select the configuration and display state you want. If instead you want to link to a global variable in a note or text box there are some options. in Text Format section of the note properties there is an icon called Linked to property. looks like a little dialog with a chain link on it. note that you can have properties that are global or ones that are config specific. Its a whole process and SWx doesn't make it easy, but it really depends on what you are trying to do. I have used global parameters for configs to populate tables on drawings before but the effort to set that up really only makes sense if you are doing a lot of drawings using a part template that you populate.
What happens if i add new features after making a configuration. Do the new features get added in all configurations or only in the current configuration I am working in? I think we can probably use this as a Version Control thing too?
When you make a configuration in the config manager there is a check box option that determines what happens. By default its check and will suppress features in all other configs, but you can also toggle it off so that all features are added to all configs. They will be on every config just the suppression state is controlled. so you can always decide to add/remove them if needed.
Thank you for this. I learned something new.
Glad it was helpful!
Great example to begin with, thank you.
Glad you liked it!
You are the best in the bizz.
Wow thank you!
