    Hannah - if you don’t wear neutrals - then don’t wear them!! There are sooo many people who are afraid of colour and I LOVE that you embrace bright colours! And I adore the orange/pink dress on you, but as a larger chested woman myself, I TOTALLY understand the annoyance about those „boob stitches“ that are waaaay too small. But other than that, the shape really suits you!

    • @IonIsFalling7217

      Right? The word “neutrals” makes my heart sink.

      @@IonIsFalling7217 I mean… I don’t want to judge those people too harshly. Wearing colour CAN take some courage. Buuuut at the same time: I have moved to an area with a majority of blonde people recently and it REEEAAAALLY shows in my wardrobe. I buy so much black stuff right now simply because there’s nothing else available that works with my high contrast colouring, even though I would LOVE a good wine red, copper, burnt orange bottle green or petrol. It’s just NOT available. All I can find are beiges, pastel colours (which truly do look horrible on me) and greys, navys and blacks. So in a way, I DO blame😂😅🥹😭 I just… would love to have more colour options available 😩

      I think the advice to start with neutrals is for people who are afraid of colour. That's clearly not you!

    • @BlackCatBritt

      As someone who almost exclusively wears black (+ the occasional dark jewel tone), I agree. Wear what you are comfortable in, and don't worry too hard if you're not fulfilling part of the full color palette. No use buying stuff you'll never wear.

      Mass made clothing that tries to be super tailored around the boobs is just never going to work for a lot of people so I don't know why they bother with these types of styles! I am on the opposite end of the spectrum and it never works for me either!

    So many cute options! I think it would be great for you to take a basic sewing and altering class because the second dress would’ve totally worked with minor altering. Maybe also a fun video idea for within the sustainable fashion realm?

      @@morehannah Honestly as someone who sews I can completely understand that and while I do agree with the other commenters that it is a handy skill to have and also a really fulfilling hobby I think I can understand that with a small child and a business that may not be your number one priority right now. Honestly I never handwash "handwash only" clothing ... I guess it's not the best but washing them on the delicate or wool program depending on the material is good enough for me 🤷

    • @Rachelhappyface
      @Rachelhappyface ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Same! Often I’ll just pop them in a delicates bag and chuck them in with the rest of my clothes on 30 😂

    • @TT-_-
      @TT-_- ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Yep, delicate setting and -washing liquid, washbag and low temp should work for most "handwash only" clothes😁 I would guess that embroidery is the reason for the skirt's tag: it might get caught in the washing machine on zippers/buttons etc, and the washbag helps with that.
      Dry clean is the "bad" thing in tags, I have never used a dry cleaning place in my life😂 And water washing very likely destroys dry clean clothes.

    • @IonIsFalling7217

    • @chandrasunny
      @chandrasunny ปีที่แล้ว +11

      If the delicates bag doesn't seem like enough protection you could always pin some scrap fabric over the embroidered side of the skirt for extra protection. The seamstress who did my wedding dress said I could even doo that with my gown, so if it's good enough for a wedding dress your skirt should be fine.

    I adore that blue top! 💙
    For Spring just remember bright, warm and light as a rule. You can hold your fan up to the colour and see if it harmonises rather than matches exactly because remember this represents a quarter of all colours which is over 2 million. Anything that feels heavy rather than sunshine-like is autumn. The colour needs to be able to hold the bright aquas and geranium bright warm reds. If it makes them look cheap, overpowering or naff it’s not Spring.
    I wash my cashmere sweaters in the machine on 30 degrees, no issues.
    p.s. try to go for bright denim rather than softer which I think your skirt was albeit a dark version 🌷💛🥰🦋☀️

    Hey Hannah! You can think of autumn as less saturated, so a autumn mustard would have more grey in it. Springs usually have some white in them, they are quite saturated with some lightness. I encourage comparing mustards and next to each other and on yourself, surely you can wear some better!

      Came to comments to say "you know, you could most likely wash the flower skirt on a delicate cycle/low temperature" but I guess I could've just agreed with you instead @kslaney4161. 😄 Good idea about the delicates bag since it'll protect the embroidery. To protect skirts embroidery is most likely why they recommend hand wash anyway. Just another tip in general: look at the label to see what materials are in the fabric. Often they can be washed at higher temperatures than the label says. If you research the material a bit it'll help you decide if you can risk it.

      Exactly! I bought mine especially because of the handwash/wool cycle and I wash my handknitted handwash-only sweaters with it with no problem, although you should use a detergent for delicates/wool as well. Then just dry flat (I lay them on top of my clothesline thingy) although this can take a while depending on the fabric thickness and air humidity. If I had to handwash them... they would also never get cleaned 😅

London charity shop prices are so dear haha, it's insane that i can buy an ankle length wool coat for £5 where i live. i really love the selection of materials you can get access to at charity shops, i definitely recommend you read the material labels when shopping if you don't already; natural fibres last so much longer than polyester (and usually feel softer).

    I think the pink and orange of that dress are definitely spring! Spring colours are normally clear (not muddy/having extra white/black/brown) and bright (saturated) and warm and I would definitely say that is. I think the second blue is more of a light spring blue and the blue you chose was maybe a true spring blue. Autumns are just more muted whereas spring is more bright. So the yellow - think of spring as golden sunflower yellow and the autumn is more mustard.

    Wanted to add that my best charity shop find by far was a pair of purple patent leather heels in size 3.5 (UK, which is 6 American).

    You could totally do a cardigan over the green top to “hide” the racerback thing if needed!

    Tip for handwasching clothes only, if its not made of wool especially Kaschmir or virgin wool, or with silk, wash it in fine wash cycle of your washing maschine. If it has embroidery or lace put it in a washing net, like for bras, to protect it. And it has some dirt or stains, use some soap and water to break it down a bit, cause the fine washing isn’t super aggressive in removing it. Also avoid washing it to often, since washing machines are still a bit harsh.

    Maybe it is due to my laptop brightness/colour, but the crop top seems to be the same colour as the green stripes in the rainbow shirt you were wearing? So I am not surprised that you liked the colour!

    OMG, I loved going to Brent Cross when I was in London. Have you ever been to the little theme park they set up there in the summer? A spontaneous trip there was one of the highlights of being in London.

      There are some analysts who do it online but I think in-person is better so that you can see the effects of the colors on yourself. Good luck!

    The green top and skirt is perfect! You could always loosen the bra straps and clip them together like a j hook, but I think it’s just fine if you show straps.

    From your colour analysis are you a light spring, warm spring, or bright spring? Also that charity shop looked amazing, I wish they had bigger charity stores around here, such a good idea.

    I both agree and disagree with the whole colours concept. I think its super handy for explaining why 1 orange cardi looks great with a purple top but another orange cardi looks crap so is useful when trying to put together full outfits.
    But when it comes to shopping, if I know I want a green cardi, I would still just grab all the green ones that I like the style of, try them on, then use the colour method to help me pick of the ones I tried on that I like - which one I like best and is more likely to go with things already in my wardrobe. I also think the colour thing might explain sometimes those moments when you try something on and in theory everything about it is great, the fit, the cut, the pattern, the basic colour (ie 'green') being one you love and style - but something just feels off about it. In those sorts of cases I suspect what I might be picking up on is that particular shade isn't the most flattering for me even though I normally would like that colour.
    I can see how its really hard to shop on the rack with just your colours. You sort of also need at least the fan of the least flattering ones to help pick them out/avoid them too - then suddenly that's a lot of things to be carrying around. But could fully see how this is helpful for a stylist.

      Ever since I was little I avoided off-whites, beige, and soft greys. They make me look washed out. Ever since that color theory started to spread around on TH-cam, I started to look at colors more often. I still don't know which color palette I am, both silver and gold look good on me for example. But ever since I started to look at color even more I do forego sober colors and colors that have a black shade in them. And I picked up a lot of coral, mustard yellow, and teal. I can say, it saves me a lot of money! I like the restriction while shopping.

      @@papayafun7226 hi. If coral, mustard and teal look good on you, you could be an autumn. Try to see if rust/ burnt orange and olive green look good. If yes, then you're an autumn. Black (at least for tops or dresses) don't look good on the 3 seasons - only winters can wear them nicely. Black will give the other 3 seasons a sallow/ washed out look.

      @@kitty_s23456 rust and burnt orange do look good! Thanks. Because I have blonde hair and I am light, people always expect spring…but those spring colors just don’t work on me. And indeed black tops are a no no. Thank you!

    Re the skirt (and even the cashmere jumper) just put them in a delicates bag or a pillowcase and wash them on a wool/hand wash cycle in the machine and dry flat and they *should* be fine! (Don’t dry cashmere on the radiator. My friend did this and ended up with a tiny shrunken jumper)
