okay but imagine enemies to lovers AND memory loss. like they were enemies, fell in love and then one person loses some of their memories and only remembers their love interest as their enemy. just. imagine
Write 👏 that👏 book! 👏 That’s the trope blend we deserve Also Even in reverse would slap. Two lovers turned enemies but one of them looses their memories and only remembers the good times?
I feel like Jesper developing feelings for Wylan after having feelings for Kaz is a good example of the switching love interest thing-- I liked it sm bc the first one was also unrequited
not sure if this is an underrated trope but books with a group of “friends” as the main characters and instead of a found family trope, its just them hating/distrusting each other or whatever the atlas six had going on. i went in expecting the six characters to be besties but i loved where it actually went hAHAHH
@@beatrizpinto5710 the only one I’ve read is The Snow Child” by Eowyn Ivey. It’s about this elderly couple that finds this young girl alone in the woods and what starts off as just them wanting to talk to her becomes them adopting her into their lives. I wish I had more for you. I can hardly find any books with this trope. If I think of anything else I’ll update you.
The way you said yeah... I agree! to your own note. And you make memory loss sound good but it literally gives me so much second hand embarrassment especially when the person first forgets. I cannot handle it.
I’m SCREAMING because your description of the memory loss/slowburn trope is EXACTLY how I feel! (I’m gonna mention a series with it so look away now if you don’t want to know what series it is!) I spent literally 3 months reading the mortal instruments and it was like my only escape and when I tell you I had the biggest book hangover of my life with that ending-it was two years and and I’ll still probably never get over that lol and I feel like no one gets it because most people aren’t that attached to *that* ship, but they’re like my OG favorite slowburn and idk if I’ll ever recover anyways thank you for coming to my ted talk :)
i was literally reading TDM and when i reached the end and that thing happened the first thing i thought of was "OOOOHHHH no wonder sunny likes this book so much" ALSO PLS CONSIDER MAKING YOUR VIDEOS LONGER I COULD LITERALLY LISTEN TO YOU TALK FOR HOURS
as soon as you started describing your example for the memory loss trope I knew exactly which series you were talking about 🤭🤭 that epilogue will forever live in my head rent free.. two books i liked that have the "fantastical competition" trope are "A Song of Wraiths and Ruin" and "Blazewrath Games"
ah, i'm glad i saved this video to watch later because i've been feeling super anxious and overwhelmed with uni today and this managed to lift up my spirits. your videos have this cozy energy and they really feel like talking to a friend. i couldn't help but laugh when you saw you had been talking for 20 minutes hahah i defintely can relate 🤣 and it's just great to hear you talk about the things you love. on the memory loss thing, i thought i had never seen a story using that before and then i realized my favorite anime literally has it lol. it's just at the very end, tho, and it's quick, but still cute. you get to see them reuniting and once he sees her you can tell he recognizes her even though he might have forgotten everything else. it's just sweet! i'm with you on this one now :P
you should try out sisters of the snake!! it's an indian inspired ya fantasy that is literally princess and the pauper, down to the dual pov, plus it was a really quick read!
Girl you need to read ,excuse me while I ugly cry’ if you constantly make notes on your phone. I haven’t read it all but it’s amazing from what I’ve read and the main character journals and has a bunch of lists 😫😫 I think you would like it
SPOILER ALERT: THE ARCANA GAME Girl you literally just descrived Asra's route with the memory loss 😭. I'm currently writing a story that goes a bit similar but I don't want to be inspired JUST by The Arcana or else it might look like an absolute copy lol. I would love to get any good books/series that has the same trope so I can get more inspiration! My story is about a husband that times-travel through memories (Khonsu) and his non-binary partner (Nemesio. I made them non-binary before knowing Asra is canonically as well lol). They're married, been together for 11 years. They've always lacked money, so Nemesio does a pack with the devil for fortune, but Nemesio refused to do their part of the contract because it's something very bad I haven't thought of yet (KEEPING IN MIND THEY DID THIS WITHOUT KHONSU KNOWING IT). The devil puts a curse on them for the rest of their lives, living miserably. Nemesio runs away and kills themselves to end the curse. Khonsu finds out, (and this is where it gets messy because I'm also not sure if he should revive them, someone else that he hires or if Nemesio didn't die but got an injury on their brain). Either way, Nemesio gets memory loss and Khonsu takes care of them (Also not 100% sure if I want him to teach them like entirely how to be a human again and sort of function in society or if they only forgot main stuff, but overal can still do human things like walk, communicate and write, etc.) While so, Khonsu would try to solve how and why his partner died, and since they have no memory to help with time-travelling, he'll have to find other ways. That would be the main plot. Now that I am reading this fully it looks like Asra's route but I don't know what you think. That's why I would like recommendations and see if I can touch areas of the story to the point you won't think it's like Asra's route anymore :). Also, I wanna mention I'm TOTALLY getting inspired by Maps by Maroon 5 for Khonsu's lore and Kiss the Go-Goat by Ghost for Nemesio's lore, so you have an idea...?
I guess you love/ or loved - The Darkest Mind series. Let's see if I'm right. Lol. Edit after watching more: you mentioned it for a different reason! They do have a cute found family 🥰
haiiii Sunny. Perfect timing because today, I'm gonna be reading my first book of February which is Verity by Colleen Hoover and honestly i just wanted some booktube vids to watch before i start it. So thanks
I like the memory loss trope, but I think I know the series you talked about, with the memory loss at the very end... and I hated this ending, what is the point of losing the memory if we are not going to see them reconect? If we don't see them falling in love again?
me seeing memory loss trope through a different lense and wanting more books with that trope..... You describing that book you were recommending without telling us what it was, it reminds me soooo much of this one series could it be the same? 👀
I personally don't enjoy those underrated tropes. The amnesia/memory loss trope is PREVALENT (!) in k-drama and I'm a little over it by now. I don't care much about found family so the "parental figures" to a much younger character aren't appealing to me. And yes, I realise most YA novels have some sort of "found family" aspect to them.
