    I randomly decided I wanted to watch some sketchbook tour videos. Your video was the first result.
    Nice drawings 👍. 16:12 this one was my favourite. Reminded me of traditional patterns from Eastern Europe. Also liked the one with the sand stuck to the paint. It's like a memory, or even an unusual kind of souvenir 😁.

      Thank you! Oh, that’s cool! I’m not super familiar with Eastern European designs, but I have seen a bit of their embroidery and really liked it. And I agree about the sand- I was about to wipe it off, but decided it was meant to be there :)

    Just found you through this video and I really love your pencil sketches and paintings. They’re beautiful and I love the techniques you’ve applied in your paintings. Had to subscribe immediately 😊 I also like that it didn’t take you so long explaining each page (I lose focus fast whenever I watch sketchbook tours and it takes artists so much time explaining each pages 😭)

      Aw thank you! For the drawings, it’s a combination of things. First, the paper of the moleskine art sketchbook allows for very soft blending. Second, I use very light pressure on the pencil to build up layers. And then I blend with my finger :)

    I just found you , I love your art work , love how you introduce other artists, please keep up .
    Also what kind is this sketch book ? Did you use gesso before painting? I also started to draw and sketch portrait.

      Thank you so much for the kind words! This is a pocket-sized moleskine art sketchbook. I don’t prime the pages with anything, I just paint directly onto them in acrylic gouache :)

    Question......Why acrylic gouache, rather than regular gouache? Is it because the acrylic version doesn’t reactivate? And if so, then why not regular acrylic paint?

    • @christinakentart
      @christinakentart  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was looking for a medium instead of oils to use for quick sketches, and a friend recommended acrylic gouache. I gave it a try, and it immediately felt right. I think the fact that it doesn’t deactivate makes it easy to use, and I like the matte finish it has compared to regular acrylic. Although to be honest I’ve never tried regular gouache and would like to at some point. What about you, do you have a strong preference between the three?

    • @douglasriddle6447
      @douglasriddle6447 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christinakentart Like you I was looking for another medium than oils for quick sketches and color studies, and didn't care for the brightness of acrylics, so I have been using regular gouache.
      I want the ability to be able to lay one color over top of another, which reg gouache doesn't do well without reactivating.
      I have been looking at the acrylic gouache, but just haven't made the leap yet.

      @@douglasriddle6447 yes, acrylic gouache is great for layering colors. Definitely give it a try!
