    Thanks for this - did this today and saved myself hundreds. That bolt at the back is a pain, but isn't too bad once you know where it is and if you have the right tools.

    Totally is a prick of a bolt to get out! After hours of trying, worked out if we held the weight of bottom part of the steering wheel and use a screw driver to push /reef it off.

    Yes on the right hand side drive you will need to move the fuse box out the way to get to that rear horizontal bolt. 😅

    Have been going at the back bolt for hours trying to get it out.
    Seriously don't know how people got to it on the RHD, is it a requirement to remove the Fusebox to get to it?

      Have a 2014 Cerato Koup RHD and it seems so much harder than shown on TH-cam

    fuck that bolt hardest thing to get to ever, I really didn't want to take the fuse box out but looks like it's the only way.

  • @ericj4774
    @ericj4774 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is this more difficult on RHD models? The LHD seems easier and no need to remove fuse box.

      Yes need to move fuse box out the way to get that bolt out

    Holy dooly - any advice on getting to the farking prick bolt? I'm feeling fuse board needs to be moved out the way?

      I removed the fuse box. Gives you way better access to the rear bolt. Then I could get my Ryobi ratchet with an extension bar on the 14mm bolt. Also remember to disconnect the battery before working on an airbag installation/removal. You don't want that thing going off!

    Hi I've got a 2010 Hyundai i30 turbo diesel and the steering is hard to turn. I've ordered and got a second hand steering column with the steering motor to change.
    Would it be easier to change the motor only interested of the whole column?

    • @michaelilic3969
      @michaelilic3969  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to drop the column anyway to get to motor

    Note after 12 months my engine light came on and was diagnosed as a bad clock spring behind the wheel at this stage I had hyundai change it out $400👎

    Thank you for the video and information I have just done my 2013 i30 elite, it has airbag at the knees as well your video is the only one showing this- it took me two hours from start to finish to complete the work everything went well but the back horizontal bolt was a real challenge getting it back in. I taped it to a socket on a extension bar and managed to get it in eventually. Thanks again for taking the time to post this video.

      Found the bolt its side mounted.My boss thought it was on the dashboard. Got it done. Now just tryna put the steering wheel Cover back One, the bottom one is a bitch to put back on.

    Is this also what can cause 'sticky steering'? When I have a longer drive my steering gets sticky you need some force te get the steeringwheel away from the central position. Hyundai says I need a completely new steering column....

    I simply can't find that bolt in the back.. videos I have see are US based and they access it from the right side of the column - but can not see how to get my hand up there without a tool ... is the nut on the right side for us too or is it on the left?

    • @jamieAust

      actually this "ad" video looks like the fuse panel has to come out too. th-cam.com/video/4k1BQPrbFr4/w-d-xo.html

      Remove fuse box for better access. The bolt is in the identical position as a left hooker i30

    Hey Michael - Trying this same repair myself on my 2012 GD and much of the info online is for the previous model (FD). I've removed the bolts holding the top of the steering column in place - the ones attached to the steering adjustment bracket, but there's something preventing me dropping the column the whole way and I just can't see what it could be. I don't even really see the bolt you have a lot of trouble with so I don't know if mine is different again. Any ideas would be appreciated.
