Thank you for keeping us informed. My wife is there visiting her family right now and their house is flooded. I'm waiting for her to call me back. My heart goes out to all of the people in Northern Thailand affected by this. Stay safe out there!
I feel deeply sorry for the people affected by the severe flooding in Chiang Mai. It’s truly one of the worst floods the city has ever experienced. I hope the situation improves soon. Sending my best wishes to all those affected.
Hii, today 10 October, is better? I have ticket flight for 11 November, is it possible to come , the attractions will be open for tourists? Thanks for your information 👍 ❤
It is the highest level ever. Just the usual flood levels we have every year in Chiang Mai are only 10 to 15 centimeters lower. I am here since 15 years and I think nothing really changes to increase flood barriers.
Great job reporting. So far, I've only seen "farang" reporting and except for Ally (good life Chiang Mai) they're clueless. + your English is better than mine, and I'm a native speaker!
Great video! New to the channel. Sad to see Chiang Mai flooded. Been there a few times & it’s a beautiful city. What type of bike are you riding? My guess Honda CT125. Thanks 🙏 for sharing.👍🇦🇺🇹🇭
I guess the main reason is the dams upstream. They don't release water in the dry season to maintain the water level for power generation. When it rains heavily, they release water, causing floods. Chiang Mai people should completely remove the dams
We got trapped in the surge Friday night while attending an event at Movenpick near night market. Stayed at night in hotel with no power. Much worse Saturday but lucky we had to park car far away and it was ok. Today, Sunday water was down a bit so we could make it out. The nightmare area is a total disaster. Everything under deep water. Water is expected to remain flooded until Thursday. Water peaked at 5.3 meters, over 17 ft. Over normal.
Thanks for the video. It is a few years since I visited Chiang Mai but I am still in Thailand, luckily in a place where I am fairly safe from flooding. Looks like you have the best motorbike for driving through water. The positioning of the exhaust and air intake on a Honda CT125 make it possible to drive through deeper water that other motorbikes could not navigate through. Stay safe!
Hello, I have to stay in Chiangmai since 11th October. I got shock but I want to know the safe area. I would appreciate if you have info. Thanks in the advance. 🙏
Thanks for this. I planned to visit Chiang Mai on Saturday but now am uncertain if that is the right thing to do. Shoud I go - and bring some (small) business to Hotel & Restaurants , or should I stay away in order not to be in the way of the clean up / use ressources others need ? What does the old town look like? Is it at all possible to get in from the airport?
Good point. I had to be in the water, up to my waist at times, before I was boated out into the old city where I took up residence in a guesthouse. And I felt ill for much of the night.
You forgot snakes and other creatures. I am a farang living in CM for the last 24 years, this year neither my house, nor the company I work for, were affected, everything is dry, but in 2011 we caught a couple of few meters long snakes during the floods...

Hang Dong is safe as its about 11m above the Ping river - the worst it gets is some local canal breaking out for a few hours.
