For me, listening to affirmations stops the mental chatter which are often replaying self criticism. It’s like my brain cannot listen to the affirmations and critique myself at the same time.
This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my TH-cam channel 8 months ago about self development. Now I have 994 subs and > 800 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

I wouldn’t have appreciated the power of kindness if someone was not cruel to me. I wouldn’t have realized the importance of growth if I didn’t see myself stagnating. I wouldn’t have appreciated the importance of health if I didn’t get sick. I wouldn’t have realized the importance of real love if I haven’t witnessed my parents’ relationship slowly fall apart. I wouldn’t have appreciated the importance of mindful money consumption if I wasn’t broke. I wouldn’t have appreciated the growth of my TH-cam channel if I didn’t start at 0.

Sometimes it's hard to balance the two but frankly, you will never know what you actually enjoy the most without trying it and being consistent. If you end up hating it after giving your best shot, don't be afraid to try other things. We are here to experience life. Feel free to experiment. Expose yourself to different types of experiences that can help you grow as a person. If you have to strike up a conversation most of the time, do it. If you have to speak in front of many people, do it. Use your discretion, but don't let yourself overanalyzing everything. The subtle art of not giving a f*ck made me unapologetically be myself while not being a narcissistic monster as everything is a spectrum

Just remember that coping skills are like tools- sometimes you need a hammer and sometimes you need a screwdriver, so it's important to have a number of tools in your toolbox. Moreover, not every coping skill works for every person, and not every coping skill works every time. Meaning -- affirmations are a powerful tool for some people on some days, but certainly remember to be expanding upon your coping skills when you find the mantras are hitting your ears a bit differently. I'd start with the common denominator..you. Rather than starting with any affirmation, you are going to have to FIRST ask yourself some deep and honest questions to identiy the particular character defect trait(s) in you that's defining the pattern. This is crucial to fix first and foremost...if not, your building your house on sand and it falls every time this way. Building it on rock once you identify the trait, apply the positive opposite trait writing it down and I say it in mirror every am and pm for 3 weeks. I can just say for me, that this way changed me and brings me out of self-pity saying hello joy. Hope you got the reasoning ❤❤

I am learning to release my doubts and fears that no longer serve me

I am Learning to become a person who always thinks positive thoughts.
