Bill probably just thinks entire tracks into existence, but since we're bound by human limitations he shows us how to do things step by step with the tools that we can understand.

You can recreate this effect quite easily just using anything that can trigger midi, such as an arpeggiator, and then automating the rate. Linearly decreasing or increasing a linear trigger with make it exponential.

Yep! You can, just turn sync off, and have it set to rate, then apply it to any MIDI device pretty much, and you can do the same thing. However, you might have to edit audio if it's in a sampler and attach a bit of silence to the end of it (like I did) to give you more leeway with the longer intervals of silence at the ends of the sequences.

Is there any way for you to explain the way you use the arpeggiator for exponentials, and dose it have to be done in Ableton live?
Automate the "rate" and set the syncing button on "free". The midi data can directly be used as a groove.

Using the MIDI tool "Note Repeat" You can do the same thing by fudging around with the delay time & resampling the MIDI signal.

You can use the claw machine on the piano roll, or use an appergiator and automate the speed.
