I'm not really interested in stripping past titles; I don't think it means anything to have a "title" given to you fifteen years after the fact. So intrigued as to how this will play out; we need to be mindful that they haven't been found guilty of anything yet. Things "not looking good" doesn't mean guilty and trial by media in just the last 2 years on much more serious accusations have resulted in no action and apparent, innocence. As an Arsenal fan keeping a keen eye on this I feel like a points deduction this season IS NOT the correct punishment. Punishing the past has little to no effect, taking titles away from players that did nothing wrong doesn't sit well with me. I can't imagine Man United and Liverpool players would be that thrilled about getting winners medals for finishing second. They are elite athletes that will see that regardless of potential balance sheet fraud they were beaten on the pitch and a winners medal wouldn't change that.
The punishment must relate to the future and it must be a punishment that can be applied to any future club moving forward. We cannot have the view that "well we won't bother with a fine because its Man City and they won't feel it" - in the event of being found guilty of these charges league expulsion must be on the table given what has happened to teams in the past. Points deductions have been a punishment used against Luton, Derby, Bournemouth, Rotherham, Leeds, Bury and Wigan off the top of my head; I am sure there is more. As far as I know in most cases it was for going into Administration; this isn't even cooking the books or attempting fraud (although some of the clubs were guilty of financial offences). The punishment must be severe enough that no other club looks to replicate what Man City are accused of and I'll be amazed if its only Man City that are under investigation for these charges.

There seems to be an awful lot of "independent commissions" in the UK whose only role is to... maintain the status quo and keep things going as they are. Like the one on wage negotiations siding with the Tory government. Who seriously believes this is going to be different this time? Maybe the country could develop "independent commissions" as an export product, I am sure trading partners will be hugely interested.

A decent fine (that means nothing to the owners), and relegation is my prediction! Relegation to the championship would allow them to recover, if they go to league 1/2 I think it's all over.
I wonder if players have clauses that allow them to leave (or wages drop) if they are relegated.

i was thinking like, what happens to the stadium in this event? do people still go watch league 1/2 city? or do they sell the stadium? to who? etihad is nice, but its no Old TRafford, UTD wouldnt want it, the capacity is too low

Always wondered how they made money when a quarter of their stadium is always empty.....all makes sense now.

If they get away with it then it’s a slap in the face to the rest. Teams like qpr, sheff wed, derby, rangers etc faced consequences (less wealthy). City got away with it by hiring too lawyers to avoid uefa ban.

If the only punishment would be a financial one, what difference would it make when they have access to unlimited funds anyway? The only punishment that would affect them in any way is relegation and taking away their Premier League titles, or at least some of them.

saudi public funds SHOULD NOT be used to fund any enterprise in the UK. So if anything getting rid of them will bring MORE credibility to the UK and to the Premiership

it needs to be more than that they need stripping of titles cups etc as they have won them with dodgy money used to buy and pay players wages they really couldnt afford and shouldnt have had playing for them which as given them a advantage over other clubs ,clubs have been robbed of titles and cups cos of this and also other clubs have been relegated and lost revenue and players cos of them and there dirty corrupt cheating ,do i think anything will happen not a chance they will buy there way out of it and get the least punishment possible and make the case itself drag on for years which will suit city the legal team and the premier league

Any club found cheating financially in a football competition should be stripped of their titles won in that period.
Would stop it overnight. Forget transfer window bans and fines, does nothing.
    Strip the titles.
