You have the cutest goats! Candy looks so sweet lol! Did you say they are ready to be bred before one year old? We have twins born in February that I was waiting until next year to be bred.

Hi Gina, yes they can be bred before a year. A lot of people wait but we follow Krystal from Blue Cactus Dairy Goats recommended techniques. She breeds hers about 40 lbs and we want them between 45 and 50. We have never had a problem. Or at least no more than a normal Nigerian will have. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Have a wonderful day!

You are like the sweetest lady ever! You are so kind and compassionate. I was wondering how long would you wean a baby and keep them separate from mom if you are still milking the mother and not drying her up, have you ever done that? Can’t find a strait answer on about how long it takes for the baby to forget about the udder.

Thank you for the sweet feedback! I appreciate it 😊
We have not been successful weaning a baby goat with mama still in milk. The baby always tries to nurse when reunited and mama ALWAYS lets them!

My gosh you breed young. Are their bodies totally developed enough to handle that type of strain and stress.

They have to be at the right weight over a certain age and have the hip spread for it. We follow a well known breeders instructions from Arizona. She is very good and we trust her advice. But yes they can handle it very well if you follow the right program. Thanks for the question.
