“I’m just going to discard them and you can yell at me”-the people who get mad about people trashing pieces of plant don’t understand how easy it is to unhealthily hoard plants if you try to hold on to all of the growth all th time.😅 Even nature allows plants to die back with the various seasons.😊 I have a supersplash cutting of mathilde coming, today, so this video is right on time! Thanks.😄🙏🏽
I agree with you about stratum. It's not meant to be a long term substrate. I mix pon, perlite and stratum(I'm just lighter on it than the others). For quick rooting purposes in small vessels, I use stratum with a little perlite.
Thank you for also sharing the more difficult decisions and not editing things like a plant toppling over and cleaning up the mess. It makes your content so real an recognizable. Do chuck cutting that you don’t want! It can be difficult to chuck healthy cuttings, but planting and/or selling takes so much time, space, effort, energy and (packing) materials. Sometimes it is just better to throw them away. And with how big/full/lush your plants are…. If someone asks for a cutting, there will be plenty left to chop and prop 🌸
That Matilda you show at @6:28 yes I agree that one looks really nice with the mix of splash and green. I'm sitting here like coaxing you through your repot like "Kevin, there's room, you got it - they're going to thrive in their new planter together!! 😂All your plants just thrive in your care! They look awesome!😊
It’s so important to make sure your collection as a whole makes you happy. If you’re ever uncomfortable with tossing things, remember you can chop them down to tiny or make mixed pots. Planting a few Hoyas you’re meh about together can make them a bit exciting!
Also- I truly appreciate seeing you go through the mixed emotions of getting rid of a plant! I struggle with those moments as well and it’s so helpful to see someone as talented at plant keeping as yourself feel nervous to start over/move on from a plant. Like you can know rationally that the plant is too large for your space, and that it will be better appreciated by someone with more space or more time to dedicate to it, and yet it can still feel so scary and sad. I can only grow in a cabinet because my cats are insane and think my plants are a home grown salad bar for them, so as much as it’s so fun and interesting to observe growing a plant really large from a tiny cutting, it eventually becomes unsustainable for me. I appreciate seeing that the same thing happens to you too! Also also- my favorite pizza topping is sausage and olives lol. Controversial but idk I love the saltiness!
I just combined all of my matilde splash hoyas into a 6in last night and I cannot wait until it gets to be more mature! You've inspired both my love for anthurium and hoya!
@@kevin. Of course! Thank you for being so genuine and helpful in all of your videos. I love that you show all the angles of plant care instead of just the pretty parts!
I use Fluval Stratum in PON & my diy semi hydro mix, but not LECA. I have good results with it; once it gets muddy, I flush the pot & it eventually washes away. Thanks for sharing Kevin!
Kevin, we your subscribers would lucky to have a cuttings from your Hoyas if you giveaway the Hoyas you have a bush to do propagation in your collections😊😍🥰 would be lovely to a lucky subscribers you pick to have the propagation from you💖
Discard away Kevin!! It’s so easy for us to feel like we have to keep every single cutting, but the sunk cost fallacy is just a fallacy in the end. Hobbies are intended for fun and relaxation, and if trying to find a home for a ton of cuttings is making it not so fun, especially after already finding homes for many of them, I am all for just tossing them. No yelling from me!!!
I like the idea of stratum for rooting, though I don’t use it. I don’t know that the pon would provide enough aeration if the stratum were to become muddy. I imagine it becoming more like cement between rocks.😅 I’m excited to see how it works for you over time.
Pineapple is definitely delicious on pizzas. But I think just like tamales or frostys and fries, it’s an acquired taste. You either like it or you don’t haha

Haha right I get a lot of mixed opinions but I guess we’ll cross our fingers that it won’t make the mix too dense 😬

Boy, Kevin, you’ve got a lot of Hoya Mathilde pots.

I just combined all of my matilde splash hoyas into a 6in last night and I cannot wait until it gets to be more mature! You've inspired both my love for anthurium and hoya!

"I'm sure you feel the same way..." Uh, not yet. LOL I've only had my hoyas less than 2 months, so I'm going to be a while yet. 😂 ❤
I hope my Mathilde Splash will look as stunning as yours someday!! Absolute goals ❤
I love your Mathildes ❤
Kevin, it must be you and your magic! I do the same in every form, but mine grow very slow. 💚💚💚
Oh awww! Hopefully they take off eventually 😊
Hoya videos all the way 🤩
Beautiful full pot of Mathilde
I love pineapple, banana peppers, and black olives on my thin crust pizza. Oh, with spinach, too
Hawaiian pizzas are good. But I think my fave toppings would be chicken, garlic, and mushroom. So good!
I like the idea of stratum for rooting, though I don’t use it.

And here I am making a brick 🧱 house 🤣🤣🤣
Woot woot!! Love the Hoya content! 😍
Nice video content
Would love to have some silver mathilde cuttings ❤
Hi Kevin. Love your Hoya content and your now large Mathilde, just gorgeous. Have you ever thought about getting a Linearis, it's my new one
Pineapple is definitely delicious on pizzas. But I think just like tamales or frostys and fries, it’s an acquired taste. You either like it or you don’t haha
Omg trueeee I forgot about frostys with fires
I just got a pizza the other day. Called the “carnivore special”. Just like I like it. All meat. Yummy.
❤❤❤
Вас так приємно слухати і споглядати за пересадкою. Дякую за досвід, поради. Обожнюю хоєчки, а завдяки вам - дізнаюся нюанси .
Слава Україні! 🔷🔶
Growing up in Hawaii. I love having Pineapple on pizza but now I hate it lol. It doesn’t taste the same when I was a kid. 😅
Thank you so much for doing these videos. I’m new to Hoyas and thanks to your videos I feel brave enough to start putting my Hoyas in pin. ❤🤗😘🪴
❤ do you sell your Hoyas
where do you buy your trellises?
Why not do a giveaway and gift the green cuttings.
Sure get rid of the two large Hoyas, just don’t fill their space with anthuriums Hoyas need to keep their space.
Awe Kev! I feel sad watching this 😢..
Give them to me!😢😢😢 still hard to come by where I live!
