Bought the adjustable maverick club and have been using it for a few weeks. Comparing it with the eye-wateringly expensive (+shopping costs!) Adex clubs, I don't see a compromise here -- no proprietary weights to buy and it is high-quality and affordable. Thanks Dan!
I have all 3 adjustable club/maces and 3 steel maces and one steel club. Frankly I just don't use the steel ones because the ability to incrementally increase weight is the biggest advantage to me. Plus I've grown to prefer the feel of the wood, personal preference.
I'm considering getting a maverick to take me from 12kg where I am now to a goal of 20kg. What configuration of weight plates would work best for this? I gather that above 16kg you need 3 collars, so I'm guessing you would need to be using a couple of 5kg plates in there for space reasons...?
Does the wooden handle get slippery when your hands get sweaty? I've got some fixed weight clubs and I'll sometimes use chalk with them, and they take chalk well, and have been wondering whether this would work with the Mavericks.
When they're new they're not as grippy as powder coating, but the oil on the bamboo does wear off after a few uses. They don't hold chalk as well as steel... people will use sports tape instead if they're going really heavy.

Great to hear that you've converted, they do feel much nicer than swinging steel. Thank you for your support!

Yes, if you want to go up to 20kg you'd be best off getting the 5kg plates.
