    Reading the manufacturers' nutritional label can be very confusing to an average uninformed person, you can be either clueless of what it means or got the wrong idea based on own misconception. Your explanation is highly educational.

      I agree with it. its very hard to read those manufacturers nutritional label. Everyone really need to know about the nutrition side of every product.

    The Great Grandmother Rule, I love it! Thinking of that is gonna save me a lot of time instead of checking every single label. And now when I find great grandmother approved food I'll know what to look for instead of feeling like I'm reading gibberish. You're the best Dr. A!

    Thank you!
    I usually focus on the serving size, sodium, carbs, and sugar. I had a health scare when I was 32 (two years ago). It was my first time entering the nutrition label zone. Watched tons of videos and learned a lot including this one. It amazed me, and still does, how the food industry lies and cares more about revenue than human lives.

    I learned with a quickness when my roommate was diagnosed with heart issues just how healthy those "healthy" frozen meals are. I had to educate him on the serving sizes, as well, turns out there's WAY more salt in most foods than what they'd have you think, and some of Campbell's "healthy" versions of foods have MORE salt than the original version! I cook now using unprocessed ingredients, and we're both better off for it.

    10g is sugar
    Then what about the rest 16 grams? What are those?

    • @FitMotherProject
      @FitMotherProject  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Harmon, thanks for writing in and great question! The remaining carb amount can come from a variety of other ingredients. They can be simply remaining carbohydrates, starches, sugar alcohols, etc. If determining your net carbs though, you will subtract any fiber/sugar alcohol from the total amount.

    I’m not sure if you’ll see this but I have a question about the percentages for the calcium and other vitamins and minerals. I don’t know what 20% of your DV means. Is the goal to get to 100% or something? How do you know you’ve had the correct amount of percentage?

    • @FitMotherProject
      @FitMotherProject  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! The %DV is a general recommendation that applies to the average person. Every individual is different and requires different macro/micronutrients though so please take with a grain of salt.

    Wait, do you add the Total sugars and included sugars to get the true amount?? Sooo 22g of total sugar+18g included sugar= 40g of sugar. And total sugar= naturally occuring, included sugar=added in the process? Right?

    • @FitMotherProject
      @FitMotherProject  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Princess, thanks for writing in and great question! The total sugar will already include the added sugar so you don't have to double up. You are also right that total sugar will also include the naturally occurring amount also. If you want to hone in on a specific line though, the added sugar take primary focus as many natural sugars come with fiber, to help slow down any blood sugar spikes (as with fruit, for example). Best of luck and thanks for watching!

    The one ingredient that confuses me is palm oil. It just seems to me an ingredient to avoid. Am I correct to avoid this ingredient as well?

    • @FitMotherProject
      @FitMotherProject  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Just, thanks for writing in and great question. Palm oil is a higher saturated fat oil but what separates palm (and coconut) oil from other saturated versions is that it is comprised of medium chain fatty acids. This does not have the same type of dangers health effect as consuming trans fat or longer-chain saturated fats. However, there may be a difference between cooking with unrefined Palm oil and the oil found in processed goods. Check out this great article detailing the difference between the tropical oils and others==>www.marksdailyapple.com/guest-post-by-modern-forager-the-tropical-oils/

    I would love to order your plan but the last time I ordered a plan 90% of the meals didn't apply to me. I don't eat any meat, chicken, mushrooms. The only fish I can tolerate is Albacore Tuna and Tilapia (hard to find wild caught). I will eat scrambled eggs with veggies.

    I have a question that is not related to the topic, how can you find out how much calories, sugar, etc. in fresh fruit and veggies?

      Hey Wanaya, thanks for writing in and great question. To find the calories/macros for various foods, there are actually many great sites online that can provide this type of information. A personal favorite is nutritiondata.com as they can provide a breakdown, depending on serving size, as well as other valuable information such as the nutritional density and RDA recommended amounts to consume.

    Where does the extra carbs come from. Like you see 20g of carbs but there is only 2g of fiber and 0 sugars and no added sugars. So where do the carbs come from as it doesn’t match the amount of

      Hey thanks for writing in! What makes up the carbs include fiber, sugar, added sugars, and sugar alcohols. So whatever is remaining is your primary carb source for that item. And just be sure to subtract fiber/sugar alcohols from the total amount to calculate any NET carbs.
