@@apollofell3925yea that’s about right. I call it “the difference of a generation.” My best friend calls it “the duties of the son.” But in reality the fact is that the previous generations can be exceptionally selfish. There’s no sugar coating it. We just have to be better human beings for our own sakes & for our kids sake.

Former nonprofit (501c3) director here. The painstaking effort I went through in every interview, marketing asset or contract language to distance the org from a political message was tremendous. If you participate in politics, you lose your tax exempt status. I'm absolutely floored they tried to game the system. If you want to hide a political agenda, a 501c3 nonprofit is the LAST place to do it.
I spent 22 years working for Planned Parenthood in various administrative roles, though mainly in fundraising. We had to be excruciatingly exact in how our money was spent and what we said about anything even remotely political. We were constantly scrutinized by people and organization who would have enjoyed seeing our 501(c)(3) status revoked. Unlike religious organizations many politicians and government agencies would not have hesitated for a moment.
You are under the impression that the law applies to Trump and his supporters. As long as there is a chance of him getting back into power, it doesn't.
It would almost be funny how polar opposite some of the “Christianity” in the US has become from the actual teachings of Christ if it wasn’t also scary due to how much they’ve gotten involved with politics by becoming bedfellows with the worst of the worst far right conservatives. We have the overturning of Roe V Wade because of them.
“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God” Mathew 19 24-26. So yes Jesus very much did talk about money.
Small fact check.. The hurricane went from category 1 to category 5 in less than 12 hours. One of less than a dozen hurricanes in recorded history to do so. Quick bit more research, its currently 2nd place in recorded history for how quickly it went cat 1 to cat 5
I heard Desantis refused billions in infrastructure funding, because it's "too woke". So hearing Desantis talking about politicizing hurricane relief is frustrating.
You heard lol did you look at what was in the bill, they like to call things the infustructer bill and it actually spends alot of money other places, i feel like you also heard trump called nazis good people and believed it 😅😅😅😅
what the fuck are you talking about? turning away from christ? what kind of atheist are you??? im an atheist and ive always had a distrust in religious people. this idea of turning away from christ sounds like you buy this bullshit.
Me too. It feels like they think they are rich because they are God's chosen people. And on top of that, it looks like they can't wait for their enemies to go to hell so they want to bring hell to Earth.
My favorite thing about the rich Christian group is how much Jesus would be against it. I've had enough of Christian people trying to run my life and look down on me in a Midwestern small town growing up. I refuse to let that run my life as an adult. We all have religious freedom in America (despite the Christian lean in politics as it is) and we cannot let that go. Enough has gone to crap for human rights as it is.
We are all human. Our beliefs are important yet not related to our planet doing planet things. If you believe in anything. Good will. Share what you have if you can. Show up if your hands or skills are needed. Love your fellow humans. Love the animals we keep and those we do not. The land will remain. Some of the people will not. Provide them with more than a check. This is not about politics. It's about people. Show up.
Christian but not from your country. I am appalled at what I heard. I remember when Defranco mentioned Louisana putting ten commandant in schools. Prayers mandatory. Absolutely disgusting
Hey Phil, thanks for sharing that tidbit about your dad.. really relatable to my own dad. A "I don't want to be a bother, I can take care of myself, don't worry" attitude. I found the best way to convince him that he should take the offer and get out of harms way, was to remind him that if the situation gets bad enough that rescue services need to get involved, every second counts. and they don't always have time to rescue everyone. leaving the danger area literally saves lives. not just your own.
Ziklag’s mountain is similar to trickle down and it’s really gross. The United States of America was created partly as a haven for those to practice religious freedoms (any religion)
What helped with some of my family in the past is to basically threaten to come ride out the storm with them. As a father you may not think twice about putting your life in danger, but you will absolutely not put your children's life in danger.
This has been the most infuriating PDS video with back to back stories about people getting away with being really really stupid and having lots and lots of power.
@@AcilandreF These kinds of mental gymnastics are why you can't argue with MAGA. They're beyond saving and they are legitimately stupid. Lower education levels across the board for Republicans. Christian Nationalists openly supporting the candidate that is arguably the closest thing to a true antichrist we've seen in the mainstream. It's all baffling. You can't debate with a Republican because they can't stay on topic and will quickly go off on a conspiracy tangent.
I was raised in the evangelical Christian culture. I've been trying to warn people for over a decade. Especially when it comes to the Prosperity Gospel and Christian nationalism. This is some scary crap, especially when it comes to how much "demons" and the "devil" are blamed for anything or anyone they don't like.
It comes back to the same language that was used to justify the holocaust - dehumanising the "enemy". Killing other people is evil and horrid but if you convince the masses that the other side aren't people but are animals (or demons, in this case) it makes it easier to convince their people to pull the trigger. It's horrifying and all Christians should be disgusted by this and call it out.
How do you think Christianity became the dominant religion in the west? They murdered and persecuted everyone who wouldn't believe what they did. You think this is something new? Pagans were wiped off the face of Europe through violence. That's what Christianity is. Believe what I say or die.

5:45 Having a family member who was a structural specialist within the FEMA organization during hurricanes like Katrina, Sandy and Ivan, I have NEVER seen such opposition against them. They’re being attacked for literally doing everything they can with a budget that doesn’t even remotely support them. Nearly 100 republicans voted AGAINST FEMA funding. FEMA is between a rock and a hard place, being used as a political pawn when they should be used as a vital tool for government disaster response and relief. I’ve seen my relative down in the worst places rescuing people from unimaginable situations after insane disasters. And to see this organization being ridiculed while doing everything they possibly can, it angers me and so many people. I hope all the people involved in these disasters get the help and support they need, always.
It reminds me of COVID when healthcare employees were being attacked for simply doing their jobs and trying to help people. National emergencies are the most irresponsible time to fear longer and play political games, but the people that do it know it's when people are at their most vulnerable and want to take advantage of it.
My uncle is one of those who is deciding to hunker down. He's right in front of Tampa and right in the path of landfall and storm surge. We offered to fly him home, but he declined. He was forced to evacuate from his home (trailer park), which will probably be destroyed, to stay with a friend instead of going to an actual shelter. His friend is within the evacuation zone and owns a two story house. It breaks my heart to think about what could happen to him. I'm frustrated knowing an "it won't happen to me" attitude might mean the difference between life and death. I feel so helpless. Our family has been plagued with so much death and disease this year, I'm afraid some of us won't be able to handle the stress of another and that might kill them. I don't even know why I'm writing this, I guess Phil's dad reminds me of my own family. I just wish everyone would make it out okay, but I know that's not going to be the case.
My Uncle is also in Tampa, my Aunt & Niece are @ a shelter. He made decision to stay in their condo with their pets. He should have packed up days ago with the pets and drove north to a pet friendly hotel in GA. There is no way for our family to make him GTFO
@mustangnawt1 at the end of the day, it's their decision. As much as we want to make it for them, we can't and that's the worst feeling in the world :( hoping your uncle makes it
I am a resident of Asheville, NC. I was on the road working in Kansas when Helene hit. When the dam could no longer hold back the flood; my home was submerged under 27' of water. My wife and dog escaped with what few bags she was able to grab as the water began to pour in. She spent two days without food and little water and no way of communicating with the outside world before she was able to make it out of the city. If it wasn't already packed into my truck or her car, it is gone; and we're some of the lucky ones. Traveling from Kansas to Maine, I have lost count of the number of times I have had to politely correct people believing misinformation about the tragedies. It truly sickens me that politicians are using one of the literal worst moments in our lives for political gain.
You mean kamala Harris who's never called anyone in her 4 years before during or after a storm but makes a media mess because she wants DeSantis who's busy managing the worst storm in 100 years so she can say "i spoke to the governor and he said i gave him everything he needs".
It’s really sad, I did see however that they can call for assistance and offer free transportation in lots of areas. I am sure that some ppl aren’t super informed and probably don’t know. :-(
Our area is telling people "You don't have to leave the state, just get out of the evacuation zones, there are SHELTERS and FREE TRANSPORTATION there, please use them
i used to attend a church that had both Lance Wallnau and Bill Johnson as regular guest speakers. This was more than 10 years ago, but I remember being disturbed then. I still retain my faith and relationship with God, but how I practice includes things like loving my neighbor, including people that are outcasts, treating people with the respect they deserve, and voting Blue down the ticket. I'm a reformed Republican and Christian. There are great reasons why Jesus refused to become a ruler. He didn't want us following in his footsteps and making a mess out of government like these people are trying to do. They have completely missed the reason why we have faith in the first place. Free speech is so important to all our other rights our forfathers made it the first amendment! Only one side has weaponized the DOJ to take out their rival. All the rise of the validation and coordination of Christian Nationalism is utterly _horrifying._ The fact is that if these were Islamic groups there would be a rush to identify them as terrorist groups. The fact that even Antifa got hit with that label during the previous administration but these extreme right religious groups are nothing but emboldened when an election is this close should DEEPLY concern everyone regardless of religious affiliation. It shouldn't be difficult to disavow extremism that make the Westboro Baptists look tame by comparison. Conservative American values aren't the same as transformatively eschewing the protections of a nation of religious freedom that are fundamentally anti-American.
@@IrocZIVI disagree. I think it should be recognized as what it is- FANTASY. People’s personal relationships with religion and talk of angels and demons need to be OUT OF POLITICS. It shouldn’t even get a political classification. We cannot legitimize this kind of rhetoric in any political setting.
i'm catholic and i totally agree. i don't need to force my religious belief on anyone else, and anyone who feels the need to do so, is dangerous, authoritarian, and a threat to our country and First Amendment freedoms.

22:41 wait WHAT!? bro that's the Aboslute way to DISTANCE yourslef from God, does he not know Jesus said Wealthy people will have the hardest time to enter the kingdom of heaven!? Lmao and scary at the same time.
As a Christian, the story revolving around Ziklag disgusts and terrifies me. If an organization under any other religion was doing this, these people would be horrified and claim that it's spreading unjust influence. Why would that not be the same here? Ironically, I pray that these people don't succeed in their missions; forcing people to be Christian/Biblical is insane and unfair to everyone, Christian or not. Gracious.
Religion and politics should be completely separate. Both with the church trying to interfere with state, and matters of state bleeding into Church. *But*, and I apologize to intrude, I would implore you to speak with your fellow Christians about making sure Trump doesn't get back into the White House. I'm speaking about the future of your religion here, rather than any sort of political matter, but it's related to politics. The entire point of the faith is to win souls for God. Everything Trump and his buddies represent will send young people running as far away from anything Christian as possible. These people, in their misguided efforts to "save America" are going to cause the death of Christianity by making it out to be abhorrent and disgusting to the people who would keep the faith alive when all the old folks die. Again, I don't mean to intrude, but if your peers are the sort of people you're able to actually talk to about politics, feel free to use what I wrote. I basically put it there so you could steal it. If they want Christianity to have a future, it has to remain a *choice* for people, which is the opposite of what these Ziklag freaks want.
@@Stephen_Adegun You're right, they should be separate. I've never had my Church tell me who to vote for, and I wouldn't use my Church as a platform to say who someone should or shouldn't vote for. There are things that both parties have done that should give a Christian pause when considering who to vote for. I would urge anyone regardless of religious beliefs to look at what the goals of the candidate are and vote your conscious.
While I somewhat agree with the above take, this will not appeal to that audience because all it really says is “Guys you’re making us look bad.” To which they would respond “Well the world is supposed to hate us and we’re supposed to be separate from the world.” And the Bible does say this. But it also gives the reason, which has nothing to do with taking over the political system and forcing the gospel (which by definition can no longer be the gospel if it’s forced) on people. The reason is because those who believe the gospel and the truth about sin no longer hold the same views or values, which naturally causes tension. Jesus himself said this. But he also said to look to him, not earthly leaders or physical and political might or forced cultural influence. We were told to simply share the gospel and “live quiet lives” and to live in peace with others as much as possible. It also says not to love the things of this world and I’d say trying to make an earthly Christian utopia is the epitome of that. All that to say, don’t take the PR route because they won’t care. Make biblical arguments. If they love Jesus truly, they will listen.
I'd note that I have friends who are religious (a couple that even came from Evangelical upbringings and one that was a card-carrying Moral Majority activist back in the day). They are also horrified at where our Nation is being dragged. They oppose this movement with everything they have - including their faith. What folks like me, who are cynical about organized religion, might miss is that the quiet Christians who truly do their best to follow Jesus are often standing right next to us in this fight against religion-pushing-fascism.
@@Window4503 I'm not saying this for PR; I'm saying this because it's WRONG. Even if more secular people are pushed away from Christianity by learning of this group, I don't care as long as it allows for these schmucks to be hindered or even stopped in their manipulative actions. I pray they're stopped, and that goes beyond "you're making us look bad." They're actively harming others and overturning due process; Fuck. That.
I'm closing in on my retirement and I'd like to move from Minnesota to a warmer climate, but the prices on homes are stupidly ridiculous and Mortgage prices has been skyrocketing on a roll(currently over 7%) do I just invest my spare cash into stock and wait for a housing crash or should I go ahead to buy a home anyways?
If anything, it'll get worse. Very soon, affordable housing will no longer be affordable. So anything anyone want to do, I will advise they do it now because the prices today will look like dips tomorrow. Until the Fed clamps down even further, I think we're going to see hysteria due to rampant inflation. You can't halfway rip the band-aid off.
Considering the present situation, diversifying by shifting investments from real estate to financial markets or gold is recommended, despite potential future home price drops. Given prevailing mortgage rates and economic uncertainty, this move is prudent, particularly due to stricter mortgage regulations. Seeking advice from a knowledgeable independent financial advisor is advisable for those seeking guidance.
This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilizing a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800,000.

If you think Biden's response to Helene has been weak, just rememeber that we tried to get more funding for hurricane relief ans the Republicans voted it down. Biden spent every cent he was allowed to spend, and Republicans refused to give him more. Hold them accountable.
Not only that, but Mike Johnson is literally refusing to recall congress to vote on more FEMA funding until after the election. They're literally killing people so they can blame it on the Biden/Harris administration and try and win the election. It's absolutely ghoulish.

as someone who grew up in southern evangelical christianity and is still included in many of those circles, it is extremely concerning how bad the conspiracy, demonizing and misinformation has gotten. i am truly worried about the future of the country for the first time.
It's beyond crazy, it's fanatical. And I say this coming from Germany, a country that IS officially Christian. But even so, despite all of that, we allow freedom of religion, separation of church and state, we've legalised same-sex marriage and while abortion is technically illegal, it has so many exemptions that still allow access to abortions for every woman should she wish to have it done. Transgender people are allowed to transition and we have rights in place protecting minority groups from discrimination. Religious Education as a subject is offered in schools (either catholic or protestant), but we also have Ethics for children of no or different religious backgrounds. We have churches, but also mosques, synagogues etc. to allow for anyone to express their beliefs. What these people in the US are trying to do is cult like fanaticism, dangerous to everyone's freedom and they need to be stopped :/
The meteorologist cracking is what scared me. We had a meteorologist stay with us during hurricane Michael and she felt the pressure shift before any of us did and IMMEDIATELY got us into the bathroom and hearing her go from laughter to "oh shit" was terrifying.
It's terrifying that we're living in an era when people are seeing experts in their field saying that they are seeing an unprecedented situation and it's scaring them, and instead of going, "Oh shit, this is a big deal!" they just dig in their heels and put their fingers in their ears. I saw it as a healthcare worker during the pandemic, and now meteorologists and environmental scientists are at the point where they are practically screaming over climate change, and yet some people still don't want to hear it.

The hard part about Milton is that my mom is in Florida near Melbourne and said that there are so many people that got rid of their hurricane kits thinking the next 2 wouldn't be as fierce and are now being forced to prepare with little supplies. On top of that there are a lot of elderly people who can't even get help because loved ones left them to fend for themselves. At which point, the maniacal smile comes out, but it's too late to take it back.
You need some critical think skills. Mayorkas was the first to say they had no money left not the Republicans. Even the Dems own research states they spent 1.4 billion of Fema money on illegals it didn't come from Republicans. You literally have the internet the democrats have made all this information very clear, and their requirements we live like Marxists. And 34 week abortions is fucken crazy? Our son was born at 34 weeks. That's the only reason no one we know will vote for DNC. And I 100% support abortion with reasonable issues. Both Parties are lying and making shit up, they are both horrendous. We're screwed either way at this point.

I mean, no. Terminologically, it's not. It's authoritarianism. Facism, Communism, State Socialism (there are some libertarian forms of socialism) are all examples of authoritarianism. Calling everything "fascism" only further erodes what little meaning that word has left.
Yeah, no. Authoritarian? Sure. Please don't help fascists by making stupid statements like that. Your parents weren't fascists for forcing you to eat your broccoli.
Communism and state socialism aren't necessarily authoritarian... Facism usually is as that is what allows it to work. Facism is (heavily simplified) defining an "in group" and working to either force everyone to assimilate into that group or purge/remove the rights of everyone else. You know, LITERALLY WHAT THE CHRISTIAN GROUP HERE IS DOING. This is literally textbook facsim and complaining "well it aint the german people"/my specific definution to dismiss any signs of it is stupid. If you are misinterpreting facism as only the far gone "german people" or *obvious* cases then you will be blind to the others until it is too late
Phil...the way you bring up hurricanes that are about to flood parts of Florida, and then go into an ad for "Vessi weatherproof sneakers" is...well...priceless.
I don’t often comment but I felt compelled to write this after listening to that last story. As a Christian that last story about Ziklag was incredibly troubling. We are called in the bible to treat our neighbours as we would ourselves and to love our enemies. These are foundational instructions in our faith that it seems this group of brothers and sisters has very much forgotten. Hypocrisy is something that human beings have been guilty since recorded history (the church especially so) but when I hear stories like this about religious extremism it makes me question whether or not these people truly believe in Jesus and the Bible at all. I’m Canadian myself but I have close friends and family south of our shared border. I hope and pray that this election cycle teaches people about the importance of honesty, nuance and good faith conversations. Thanks for bringing us the news as usual Phill, stay safe.
As a fellow Canadian. I'm equally worried about these kinds of things spreading north past the border. We've already seen a fair few American republican issues become Canadian conservative talking points, so it's probably not a stretch to think that We have our own ziklag with how heated trans and LGBT+ issues in general have become the last few years despite them not really doing anything to warrant such vitriol.
As an Atheist I am glad there are still believers who see reason in this comments section. I ask this of the believers here, please vocally oppose the extremists' horrid actions in unison whenever you can. You are the only ones who have the highest chance of reaching out to them outside of your deity. If you all point out the path they are on is wrong as a chorus then that song of compassion may yet guide them back to grace, and help even the independant extremists find their way. I may not share your faith but I do share your wish for peace.
Something that’s become quite clear with Christian Nationalists is that they don’t worship God, they worship their religion. It’s a cult. Plain and simple. Their very actions defile the name of God.

@@Seeker-eq8gp been hearing that nonsense for 40 years, and ain't seen it yet. You do realize this isn't even the worst storm in our history, right? And we have building codes that specifically address hurricane force winds and floods. My wife sells windows and doors. She has a line of impact windows that will literally stop windborne debris traveling in excess of 200 mph. She has doors that will literally stop a truck. Even our wood frame homes are designed to twist and flex with the wind, minimizing structural damage. Yes, there will be damage. Yes, there will be casualties. But it's no different than the people living in California, dealing with constant wildfires and random earthquakes. It's no different than living in the mountains and dealing with avalanches and mudslides. We're used to this. Just because you don't know how to manage in this scenario doesn't mean we don't. Which is why we don't turn to the likes of you for help. We have the Cajun Navy for that. They know the life, and come to our rescue every year, and we do the same for them, in return. By Friday there will be a convoy of 4 wheel drive trucks bearing Louisiana plates, pulling airboats and dingies on trailers, heading for the Sunshine State. They're already staged and ready to go. Have been since Sunday. That's all the emergency services we need. At least they're reliable and competent.
My dad decided to hunker down in Tampa, too. I'm super worried since I JUST came back from helping him recover from Helene. Now, I was born and raised in FL for most of my life. However, we were also a military family, so we naturally bounced around all over the States and managed to avoid all the major hurricanes prior. Living in Central FL, we only got strong winds from Helene. This is the first time in my life when we are slated for a major hurricane directly in our path. It is extremely rattling to be in this situation, and not gonna lie, I’m honestly scared. That clip of the meteorologist made my blood run cold.

Has Trump gone senile and forgotten the internet exists? Because he acts like we all don't see 15 stories contradicting his lies the moment he spouts them. 🤦
Hi. Maga listens to Christian Nationalists and far right pastors who preach hate, self-righteous propaganda and victimization. The comments on these videos make it clear that maga will choose violence by Nov 6 and probably B4. Be prepared. Be safe.
Doesn't matter. He has a base that will take his word as gospel. They've been trained to take his word as fact, and anyone who isn't on their level must be lying to hurt their God emperor. Some people are too far gone. They don't live in reality.
Phil, I totally understand the frustration with your dad. My parents are nearing 60 and act like damn teenagers. They can't be told anything without spouting some BS.
There are differences between Christian Republicans and Christian Nationalists. Many of the same people complaining about this are the same who are protesting in favor of Hamas, who certainly don't share the views on limiting the reach of religion in government.
@@zwenkwiel816 k, thanks for so eloquently explaining why calling out the hypocrisy of supporting religious extremism in one situation while condemning it in another is idiotic. I didn't really expect better of you, but know that you didn't disappoint.
This hard shift into allowing these once fringe ultra religious groups to have so much power is beyond frustrating and infuriating. It's like watching the world go backwards in time in real time, losing progress the whole way.
"Go backward in time." I think that is the point for some people. For various reasons, Socially, morally, financially, and just about every way you can think of, the 40s ( after the war) through the early to mid-60s is commonly and widely looked at as the " best time" in America and most of the world as a whole. Today's world may disagree for various reasons, some completely valid, but most reasons that would come up wouldn't be on the radar if being honest. I mean, a family being able to live on one income with a parent home when the kids are doesn't sound bad at all ( stereotypically, men work, women stay home, but doesn't have to be that way, but biology through evolution does support the notion in many ways so change is slow ). All of that to say a large faction of the " leaders" we have today grew up in that " heyday" ie Baby boomer generation and a combination of nostalgia and a small amount of true recollection has them " driving" America back to that now that they have thier hand on the "wheel" As Gen X and the elder part of the MIllenial generation ( where I am) age it becomes clearer to some of us that parts of that thought process isn't crazy but we have to be very careful to not dive off the deep end. The deep end being things like the full measure of the story or Project 2025.
I know this is adding one comment to the many, but I wanted to share that this is my first year voting in the US election. I became a US citizen a little under half a year ago, and this is my first time getting to vote. For context, my mom is an American citizen but didn't apply for my US citizenship when I was underage. I recently got her to also sign up to vote abroad, for the first time since she moved here to Canada. Much love from Canada :)
The irony of Google not being allowed to pay developers to launch on Google Play first because of Epic Games' lawsuit, when that's exactly what Epic does for their PC launcher.
I hear you, but let's also not pretend these are the same situations. Companies do that all the time. The difference here is market share and how these systems work. Google, like many tech companies, is engaging in a particularly nasty type of rent seeking behavior. They own the market within a device essentially. Then they engage in anti-competitive practices which are bad for the consumer. Basically, they leech on every other company's work. The Epic Store does not have huge market share or default status in PCs. They are still actively competing on price at the same time.
Whenever your show makes me laugh out loud and say WOW at the same time, I feel obligated to thank you publicly. Your work is commendable I am so glad your channel exists. Greetings from a 50 year old in Budapest.
The scariest thing is we all know so many people are going to die. And the ones that do pass away might have either already accepted death or they might be completely unaware of their upcoming demise. Praying for everyone in the area and other nearby areas that might also be affected/impacted. 🙏
I've lived here for 40 years, and heard the same BS every storm. Unless you're in Zone A, the storm isn't going to be deadly. Inland residents are well above sea-level, and several miles inland. Downed trees and loss of power will be the worst that most of us experience. We literally live with this. We aren't Tennessee or North Carolina. We know hurricanes are a thing, and we build with them in mind. Oh, and the Cajun Navy is already staged and ready to go. We Floridians know they're more reliable than FEMA and emergency services combined. The Banjo Boys have our backs, and we have theirs.
Happy to see so many people evacuating, it speaks to the fact that more and more people are informed, at least informed enough to not want to die, and thats always comforting 😂
It's harder and harder for people to straight up deny climate change is a reality (because the weather is so significantly different now, everywhere and it's obvious). So, they have to shift the goal posts on it to "the government is causing storms." I hope everyone, and I mean everyone in Florida can be safe.
This is normal. Once a hurricane has formed, subsequent hurricanes are more likely from the same area and hurricanes that form soon after generally follow the same trajectory. I’ve been through double and triple whammies. The only reason it’s not coming North is a cold front formed and is acting like a wall. What’s unusual is how large and powerful they are. The rainfall equals the amount of 2 hurricanes. The storm surge- well I’ve just never seen it that high. Ever. Not until these last two. 6’-8’ was considered bad.
My wife and I have no choice but to stay. Wife’s job is forcing her to work on Wednesday. She’ll lose her job if she leaves. UPDATE: The company is giving them a half day on Wednesday and Thursday off (both days paid), so we still don’t have enough time to evacuate.
My husband's cousin is a Navy meteorologist, and the group chat has been exploding with him begging family (who all live in and around Tampa) to evacuate. It's very worrying, but they're Florida people. Totally convinced everything will be fine. I'm hoping my concerns are just my background as a Rocky Mountaineer having never experienced a storm of this magnitude
Yep. That's peak GTFO. My late dad was a meteorologist in the USAF early in the Cold War. He taught me the whole respect weather don't fear it, but also, there's a tipping point where weather overrules anything humans can do.
Central Florida resident here: I work at a blood bank in Orlando, as of right now we're still fully operational and taking in lots of donations. Urgently need donations from anyone and everyone. Personally, I'm scared of my commute to work as the winds will start to pick up Wednesday afternoon. Shout out to my hour drive on I-4.
I have a few ultra conservative people in my family that have been sharing conspiracy theories that the government controls the weather and that this hurrican is man made 🙄 and they wonder why I keep my distance from them.

I live in Orlando and I’m shocked that universal studios is going to stay open tomorrow till 2pm when most of its employees haven’t even prepared for the storm because they haven’t been able to prepare for it or even evacuate. Most of the other team members who have told management that they won’t be able to come in have all been given the same answer “well just carpool we will ask around but finding a ride to your evacuation location is going to be hard. See you at 7 or see you at 11.” Disney and sea world are closing universal is the only one opened. The AP people are arguing whether or not that if they should go to the parks and some are even comparing it to nurses and doctors not complaining about the hospitals not closing………..I’ve lost faith in humanity because some passholders want to put not only themselves but team members in danger because universal doesn’t want to loose money.
As someone who works at a hotel by Universal, even I haven’t been told if i’m excused from work or not tomorrow. And I drive 45 min north on i4 to work. Ive been in hospitality for a decade and i’ve never seen a hurricane handled this way. I wish they would’ve set a curfew in place to protect people more.
@@saigecoulter4178 they told their Team members that they have to come into work and management is telling people to car pool and no excuses that they have to come in. Most of them won’t be going home until 5 or 6.
It certainly could. Not sure we can do as humans to address it except for better disaster prep and planning. I don't necessarily think we can stop it given how much China and India pollute along with the possibility that the Earth may just be naturally warming up anyway given we were way warmer millions of years ago. Doing things like carbon taxes are certainly not going to address the issue.
I'm a homeless man that lives in my car in Fort Lauderdale. There are a lot of people who can't leave. We have nowhere to go. I have family in NC. And they are still hurting. We in Florida are about to be hit as well. The government on both sides need to be ready. The east coast is an a emergency situation. Not a political point for votes. All Americans should be worried about all Americans. We are all human beings. And we all deserve to live. I hope all of my fellow humans. No matter what you're age, race, religion, or beliefs. I spoke to a family member in Asheville yesterday (he had been on a trip during Helene and is good). His place is on a hill so didn't have much damage. He told me the power was still out and the roads were a mess, BUT that they heard national guard helicopters constantly through the day. There was misinformation going around that the guard wasn't doing anything, but it is a load of BS. He knew they were still doing search and rescue and had no complaints, just relief for being away and lucky

If you're in Florida, Georgia, or states that are high risk due to Hurricane Milton or any Hurricane, please evacuate when your local community advises it. I work with a flood insurance agency in the US and Hurricane Helene brought us a lot of calls on claims, but also on dire news of people dying. One of our customers called us, terrified and shaking because all of their close neighbors died during the flooding. (For privacy purposes, I will not disclose where this happened)
I just got out of the hospital and am so devastated here in Asheville by Helene. But it is amazing to see how many of the volunteers here are also prepared to go help there. I really pray more people evacuate. I’m also scared for more rain here to put off us being able to have water again for a while. The city water treatment plant said there is so much floating sediment in the water that they are working with the EPA to figure out a way to get it filtered, but that may not work. That we just need to wait for it to settle.. but of course, rain also prolongs that process. Anyway, sorry for my rambling, we are struggling. So thankful for all of the helpful people here. And RIP to my neighbors and friends.
I've left this comment before, but it bears repeating: This response from the evangelical, right-wing ideologists is far from surprising. When an entire identity built on exclusion is challenged by a nation united in real progress-one that champions inclusivity and love-their only response is defensiveness. Ironically, the very values they claim to uphold are the ones they lack most abundantly. This is the result of a deep fear, hidden under the guise of love. These people are the result of UNPARRALLED Privilege. "God has called Christians to exercise dominion over all areas of American society"? Riiight. Cuz if there's anything I know about God, it's his extremely limited capacity to rule over multiple nations. Sure thing, pal.
For those not leaving: Fill your sinks and bathtubs (freshly cleaned of course) with water. You may need it if water gets shut off and likely will if your area gets hit. Make sure you've got fresh batteries and flashlights. Get a box of gallon sized ziplock bags to keep things dry. Clean socks in a gallon size ziplock bag and a couple of pairs of shoes (if you can get them in ziplock bags that's great). Get all your important paperwork together and put it in a ziplock bag. Throw some packaged snacks in a ziplocks bag. Enough to last a couple of days. Pet food if you have pets. Leashes or pet carrier. Backpack or gym bag. Wallet with drivers license, SS card, cash. Wear that on your body. Clothing that drys quickly and is easy to pack and light to carry. A jacket with a hood to keep the sun off of you if you have to walk a long way or are stranded outdoors somewhere. Water. Bottled water. Buckets of water. Any containers you can fill and safely keep fresh, clean water If you have time, cook the food in your freezer. It can keep in your freezer for a day or two without electricity after it's been cooked. After the storm keep your doors locked especially at night. It gets real dangerous when you can't call anyone for help and there's no utility or emergency services. Heed this last warning. I am uncertain why people refuse to seek safety in these circumstances, it is mind boggling (dependent on resources available of course), literally crossing our fingers but my wife and I know not to mess with the force Mother Nature can "rein" down. Eventually they switched their tone from refusing to leave to they cannot leave now due to traffic and road closures. (They also stayed for Helene)
I lived in Florida when it was hit by Hurricane Andrew, which was a category 5. It was crazy how much damage we saw afterward. As a kid, I was excited to see the military and all the aide provided. As an adult, I'm scared for friends and family who still live there.
Phil calling out the stubbornness of his dad was not something I expected in today's episode. Hopefully he comes around. Also, speaking on a Cat 3 hurricane, I was in Orlando in 2004 when Charley hit and it was no joke. Winds really fucked up the area and I was without power in my little apartment for 2 weeks. Driving around in the aftermath was like waking up to a post apocalyptic horror film. Trees in houses, cars flipped over, live power lines strewn about. And that was an inland city. I could only imagine what it will be like for Tampa if it takes a direct hit.
I’ve heard that local governments are telling people who are choosing to stay, to write their information on their bodies so they can be identified easier

As a Christian I agree. America should be a place where people can hold different views and not be persecuted for it. There is very little tolerance in America for anyone who holds a different view now days. There is no excuse for trying to force anyone to follow a certain religion. With that said, the group has likely gained more of a following as a response to perceived attacks on what they see as traditional values. It doesn't make it right but every extreme opinion has an opinion that is just as extreme in the other direction.
Florida is also ordering the people in jail to stay put, while the guards and personnel flee. Some people just can’t afford bail and are innocent of any crime at all

i used to attend a church that had both Lance Wallnau and Bill Johnson as regular guest speakers. This was more than 10 years ago, but I remember being disturbed then. I'm a reformed Republican and Christian. There are great reasons why Jesus refused to become a ruler.
Well, you see, being extreme is fine as long as it's the "good" kind. Or something like that. People are f*cked.

7:05 Seeing Kane from the WWE get called "This one republican mayor" is the kind of comedic relief I needed in an ungodly depressing story.
I was about to ask...... 😂
Explain record snowfall in the Canadian mountains last winter
People will still deny it as long as their master Trump says it doesnt exist.

This is no longer a once-in-a-century hurricane... It's more like a 'hey, I’m back again.
Wait, we were buying them? Based
Don't call it a comeback
Exactly
Right now it's literally something that hasn't happened in over a century. These will become more common, but saying it isn't rn is just incorrect.
That's horrible!
Get it in writing, so if anything happens they cannot deny that you could not flee, good luck
I'd rather be fired then die. Just saying.
More evidence that your employer doesn't care about you.
Staying alive is more important than any job.
I’m so sorry that your dad is refusing to leave. That must be really difficult for your family. Sending your family lots of love right now
My husband's cousin is a Navy meteorologist, and the group chat has been exploding with him begging family (who all live in and around Tampa) to evacuate.
I'd love a Venn diagram of Nazis and Christian nationalists
It's just one very crowded circle.
O
There you go
It's getting closer and closer to just becoming a circle.
Wow! Sounds like we have the same dad. He'd rather take his chances with a hurricane than visit me.
I have a few ultra conservative people in my family that have been sharing conspiracy theories that the government controls the weather and that this hurrican is man made 🙄 and they wonder why I keep my distance from them.
These people believe that the government is responsible for the hurricanes, but won’t believe in global warming
It's because you're a coward. That's why you stay away.

Was “weather or not” intentional?
As someone who works at a hotel by Universal, even I haven’t been told if i’m excused from work or not tomorrow. And I drive 45 min north on i4 to work. Ive been in hospitality for a decade and i’ve never seen a hurricane handled this way. I wish they would’ve set a curfew in place to protect people more.

The last story blew my mind. Just when you think it can't be any crazier out there a new day begins.
I hope this is a wake-up call about climate change. This type of weather is going to become more and more common, and more often.
Good luck we said this in 2005.
One can hope.
It won’t be a wake up call. They are now creating a conspiracy that Democrats created the storm. Anything to avoid reality.
It’s too little to late, Disney’s recycle movement failed 😂😂
Stop and think what you would do in someone else's situation in life. Eyes open. No fear. Be safe everyone.
Good luck out there 🙁

I am a born and raised Floridian, lived in Central Florida for 90% of my life. I need ya'll to understand that Central Florida is where people usually evacuate TO not FROM. I'm not usually too scared of hurricanes, but this one is spooky.

For those not leaving: Fill your sinks and bathtubs
(freshly cleaned of course) with water. You may
need it if water gets shut off and likely will if your
area gets hit. Make sure you've got fresh batteries
and flashlights. Get a box of gallon sized ziplock
bags to keep things dry. Clean socks in a gallon size
ziplock bag and a couple of pairs of shoes (if you can
get them in ziplock bags that's great). Get all your
important paperwork together and put it in a ziplock
bag. Throw some packaged snacks in a ziplocks bag.
Enough to last a couple of days. Pet food if you have
pets. Leashes or pet carrier. Backpack or gym bag.
Wallet with drivers license, SS card, cash. Wear that
on your body. Clothing that drys quickly and is easy to
pack and light to carry. A jacket with a hood to keep
the sun off of you if you have to walk a long way or
are stranded outdoors somewhere. Water. Bottled
water. Buckets of water. Any containers you can fill
and safely keep fresh, clean water
If you have time, cook the food in your freezer. It
can keep in your freezer for a day or two without
electricity after it's been cooked. After the storm keep
your doors locked especially at night. It gets real
dangerous when you can't call anyone for help and
there's no utility or emergency services. Heed this
last warning. Evacuate if you have the opportunity

My in laws (Wife's Dad, Step Mom, Sisters and Nephew) are refusing to leave and they're in a Hurricane Zone (Gulfport/St. Pete west of Tampa) and my wife is extremely worried for their safety, even pleaded for them to get a hotel more inland, which they can afford.
That last story is terrifying and EVERYONE should listen to it.
