Great review and clear speech and without silly music,it's summer 2024,I've had my first ever tiger the 2001 955i for 5 months great bike but a couple of niggles,so next upgrade is either to a 1050 or 1050 sport, love the look of the sport with single sided swing arm.
Got the 2018 model which has some of the features missing on this one. Its a great bike and even better with Arrow Exhaust. I still have my old 3 carb sprint from the 90's which keeps me sane when i want real presence on the road.
Once I added the Palmer Products screen adjuster to my 2009 Tiger 1050, it was pretty much the perfect bike. I commuted and toured Europe on it. Great review.
I'm well late to the party here, but I think the Tiger 'Lite' is my current dream bike. Love the look, love the idea of a triple, don't need the features and the bigger engine of the XC. Your review just makes me want one more! Great job!
Just bought a 13 plate I'm only 5 foot six and it's an arse off saddle job when I stop . But I'll put up with that because it's a great bike it's slowed me down a bit 😁👍
nice reviews you´ve been doing lately, enjoying them immensely :) cheers mate :) glad to see you guys in old blighty are having good weather as well :)
Great review mate, looking forward to riding it next Saturday even more now. I'm one of those weird people that like the weird hybrid upright+road only+adventure bike category ;-)
This might be what im looking for, not sure why im looking yet as im not upgrading to a new bike till mid 2015 but a nice cross of a sport and adventure seems great, At the moment im riding a CF Moto Leader and its a great little bike, great power on my low range but lacking much for highway riding. I do like the semi naked look to this bike and don't mind the more empty left side of this bike, I would though upgrade the exhaust on it, give it some more character on the road and a nicer rev bomb when needed. That's one thing my 150 can do... a mean rev bomb. Good review though and gives me some good idea's where to look when I do upgrade.
I couldn't make my mind up about the styling when they first launched these a couple of years ago, but the newer ones look great imo. Also sounds like it's filling the same kind of gap as the Ducati Multistrada (but cheaper I'd imagine!) Good review :)
Nice looking bike. When I first saw it I said finally great a 800cc bike from Triumph that looks great, and then the news sunk in it's a 1050cc bike, not what I was hoping for. Why can't they make a 675cc, or a 800cc bike that looks like this one ??? With no bug eyes like the TST-675, or the new Tiger witch is an improvement in the looks department for sure, in many other ways as well, so I was willing to buy one if it was what I thought, well thats just not going to happen now, seeing it's a 1050 class bike, just too big of motor & too much unneeded weight for me, but if a 675cc & 800cc bike looked this smart, i would be in a dealership ASAP, especially if the adjustable suspension had the same features of long travel, and comp & rebound adjustments. Triumph should build this bike and watch them flock to it, as I know there are more people like me. lol Note # Started to insert birds where people is, just not sure what that means in the UK ect.. Had the feeling it has a negative connotation to it..? I am usually right BTW, at least about the bike !
What are your thoughts comparing the Tiger to your ST? I have a 2003 ST that I've done 750+ mile days on. It's great in the twisties with the luggage off. Does the Tiger excel at either/both of these compared to your ST?
I think the ST is definitely better suited to longer trips and is a bit more direct in the twisties BUT the Tiger has a better wider handlebar position and body position not to mention the extended swing arm making corners much easier than on the ST, The added 1050 torque is evident unloaded. I did not test it loaded up though but my own 03 ST I think would probably be a close second to the Tigers easier handling and added torque loaded up.
Cool thanks. Dealer is always trying to get me on a Tiger since Triumph discontinued the ST's in the US. I love the look of the pre-'06 ST's, so I don't see myself changing anytime soon.
MrStrizver Honestly, go take out the Tiger XC preferably the 1215. By far the best Triumph ive ever ridden. Blows the ST away in power, comfort, handling, refinement, build quality, features. Looks? Thats an individual thing but I like the look of the Adventure XC fully loaded with lights etc ;)
Interesting about the handling, I went out on my first triumph yesterday (Street Triple R) and the thing that sticks in my head is the handling, they beg to be lent over do they not? :) RSMF-RI Mr B
All of the new Triumphs ive ridden have amazing handling. The Speed was very forward/over the front but still good and the America I rode yesterday was the opposite position but still great! The 1215 XC is the best for me so far.
This year: Speed triple, then the Daytona then the street triple then the Tiger. The XC from last year is the over all best for me BUT the next review which will be online in a day or 2 might push a few bikes down the list ;)
the triumph 1050 blows the Explorer 1200 away. shaft drive. barf. fly by wire. barf. jumpy and unpredictable over bumps cuz ur hand moves on the throttle. Wayyyy too sensitive
Excellent review my boy... picking one up on tuesday and had not really looked into it.. Stupid maybe.. Had a print.. loved it... but cramped for me.. getting older.. I wanted a more upright sprint and this seemed to be it.. You review is fab and I am excited to be getting one... what camera did you shoot this with???
We get the fat ass 1200 Explorer with more hp and u get my favorite the 1050. Yeah it's about 115 hp and your new 1050 has 125 hp This is what I want Throw the Explorer with a shaft drive into the channel drives like a Honda Accord. Boring. The only think I like better is I wish I had ride by wire and a slipper clutch
put a gel seat on and a man stad windshield. U now have the best bike possible. except the 1050 doesn't have cruise. throttle locks are dangerous. TRIUMPH WHY NO CRUISE ON A CRUISE BIKE?
Rubbish mirrors, build quality not up to the usual Triumph standard. Appears to be built to a price. A winter of discontent, My previous SE, 20,000 miles in two and a half years, was in better condition than my 'new' sport after only one winter. Seat needs modifying.

Excellent review, very professional and enjoyable. Thank you.
An old video now but now still a really good one and very useful for me starting to think about buying a used one. Really helpful video. Thanks

thank you! very useful. i will pick up the 2014 tiger sports 1050 next week. i love the look. drove a T400 aaaaaaages ago ;)
Once I added the Palmer Products screen adjuster to my 2009 Tiger 1050, it was pretty much the perfect bike. I commuted and toured Europe on it. Great review.
Thanks, if I owned one I would choose a few products to make it more my own.

Your review just makes me want one more! Great job!
great review an answered several questions I had thanks
If anyone knows Tigers it's you so I will take your word on it. Very good review, very well researched and full of educated opinions.
Thanks, I do like em Tigers ;)

Thanks, appreciate it. This weekend has been lovely.

I hope you are recording it, Good luck!
Just bought 2014 tiger sport with luggage, heated grips and hand shields.. expecting to experience some great riding and touring :)
I like the look of it,it's a do it all bike.A good all rounder !
Pretty good solid review sir, I think you covered it very well.
nice review
Mrbadger Martin
Thanks :)
Thanks, appreciate the comment.

I think your right, multistrada territory. The new styling is kind of fazer-ish at the front anyway.
Nice bike. Did I miss the stats ie weight, power and torque?
Another honest review.
Thanks buddy :)
Is it good for everyday use and trips to the grocery store?
Whats the difference between this and say a 2011 Tiger 1050 SE ABS in the U. S. Market. More hp?
How was the seat ? I heard bad things about the comfort.

800 is underpowered and u can feel it doing 75 on the freeway. go with the 1050
Ok, that is food for thought ?

can you lane split on it?....
I used all of my ninja abilities to sneak past you during the walk around :D
Do you know why the Sport is heavier than the older model? I reckon it has something to do with the single-sided swingarm :P
I think you are right :p
Single-sided swing arm's FTW!! But then I am biased!! ;-)
Just a bit! ;)
So, which is you favorite triumph so far?
This year: Speed triple, then the Daytona then the street triple then the Tiger. The XC from last year is the over all best for me BUT the next review which will be online in a day or 2 might push a few bikes down the list ;)

If it wasn't for the ugly front, - kind of japanese - it would be the perfect motorbike

Should of been called a Yamaha TDM. 😆

It's a superbike built for Britains shit roads
