Carpenter himself has called it "wallpaper music" as in it doesn't need to be direct attachments to the scenes or films they're played in. That's not for all his tracks, though. Example: "The Shape Stalks" playing while The Shape, aka Michael Myers, stalking his victims in "Halloween". On a different note, it's one of my favorite things that the developers of "Dead by Daylight" included for The Shape gameplay while he stalks his victims.
Paul Manweller1 first time watching today!Loved it. First time watching They Live last Sunday. It’s criminal I’ve not watched these Carpenter greats before but at least now I have. My friend told me first time he watched Precinct 13 the theme tune stuck in his head for a week. JC’s music is amazing and really appreciating his films. Going to watch The Fog next I think.
@@ianwalters11 your in for a treat the Fog is pure sick man. I am so jealous of you watching it for the 1st time. Please please don’t watch the Thing on a full stomach-I won’t say anything more enjoy 😊🎯❤️
Simple, elegant and classic! This and Warriors are an excellant view into a fantasy gang world set in a dystopia setting. The music here and in the warrior capture it brilliantly. JC was way ahead of his time. A real tribute to Rio Bravo in a modern setting!
I first saw this movie at Fort Benning, on the day you transition from 30th AG to your infantry training unit. I was only half watching the movie but the theme entranced me. After infantry school began, I remember a great many cool, foggy pre-dawn hours- running through the grey haze humming this to myself. I'll never forget that.
It motivated you troop. I was a 19delta cavalry scout. During peace time our main mission was to rescue paratrooper 2nd leutenants lost in the woods. ( just joking) thanks for your service and garreyowen.
An absolute legend in film AND music JC! Beautiful simple elegant powerful, a profound statement in cinematic history this beauty!!!!! ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
@@misterasena9116 Well, yes and no. Some remakes are good. True lies,is a remake of a french movie. Same goes for a lot of other stuff. But mostly they are horrible, cause they have the idea. that all they need is the name. Not the concept behind the story
I don't know what to celebrate Carpenter as ... As a director or composer ... His music is unmistakable. Sometimes I think he's composing a piece of music and then making a film to go with it. In any case, Halloween as horror music is unmatched.
John Carpenter surely has a great ability to compose good music for movies. His theme of the 1978 horror classic Halloween is another example. Actually, I had no idea that he composed the music for this film until about eight or nine years ago. Neat music and video! I had the DVD for this.
I was walking home from work once at like 2-3am and was listening to this. Had to turn it off in the end because i was genuinely getting unsettled and nervous 😂
The brilliant synth composer Mark Shreeve, did a fantastic cover version on his album….Assassin…..he does this track with such power…try and listen to it if you can…
@kenpalmer1965 I agree with you completely, and i would add that i just listened to the soundtrack for the 05 remake, and it was dreadful compared to this
funnily enough, they were out fairly close together (3years) and the gang type movie was not uncommon. It is the type of movie JC could be associated with and its not that much of a leap of faith to comare the two at the same time...
have been watching this movie and playing this track since 1985
Massive respect
@@lpsp442 me too
Yeah I know what you mean
Carpenter's minimalist musical scores gave so much character to his movies.
True.Sometime less is more

Watched this film back in 82. Been in love with it since then.

One of the most powerful themes in the history of cinema
Jurassic park too
i admit i got this one from XENON MEGABLAST on the Amiga 64......its a bit faster and it was a tribute to the movie
Especially during the trailer before cinema release. The ice cream scene gave me nightmares as a kid.
Atmospheric chilling and totally beiilliant score
my ring tone
Best movie theme ever chilling and menacing still gives me the chills
Sure the still is from another Carpenter Film, “ They Live.”

You can't argue with a confident man!
He don't stand up as well as he used to ....

I agree, I actually put them on a double bill recently. Also like to imagine them as kind of prequels to Escape from New York...
Spot on.
John Carpenter is underrated. He's a true artist. A master of his craft.
R.I.P. Austin Stoker and Darwin Joston
best director and best musician. hell yeah...
The Master
John Carpenter's soundscore one of the best of his time.
Best movie ever, best theme music ever!!
killer piece of music
7 likes ... must preserve that count to maintain accidental reference to Killer7 . .. .
My favorite of John Carpenter's movies.
Terrific theme. One of the greatest ever, spartan but so menacing and sinister.

John carpenter was ahead of future music 🎶 & watched this movie so many times just coz of sound track ❤️...genius
John Carpenter's best film & music.
This movie is so under rated.
All that matters is, not by us 😊
love this track and the movie
Carpenter is a fuckin' genius, how simple is this track, and how much more powerful than a lot of orchestral scores, especially nowadays?
Watching right now, on Pluto Tv Shout factory channel. Love this movie and music
This and The Thing both films are brilliant.
And escape from New York
And Halloween!
This tune kicks ass all over
An absolute legend in film AND music JC! Beautiful simple elegant powerful, a profound statement in cinematic history this beauty!!!!! ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
Mr Carpenter. Sir.
I come from Manchester England.
Your epic theme has been used SO used in classic house
Thank you
Great Soundtrack, GREAT MOVIE!
The remake, can't hold a candle to this movie

Classic film and class theme
This movie was way ahead of it’s time , more underground than anything.
Amazing soundtrack!

sounds like something you'd hear in the old Doom games :)
no. is Xenon 2: Megablast theme
I'm sure the ID software guys grew worshipping classic films like this
That tune from Doom used to give me me the creeps... but then it was supposed to 😂
Actually, it sounds more like Manhunt Soundtracks.
1 scene makes this movie unforgettable an you all know which one.
I've got a plan, and it's called SAVE ASS
I SAW THIS MOVIE IN MY COUNTRY AROUND 1978
Was on tonight on Legend UK
Makes my skin crawl each time
This film, and also the book Run Baby Run by Nicky Cruz really had cult status when I went to school.
I second your latter remark. Thoroughly impressive!

Hmmmm. This sounds awfully familiar. Xenon 2 Megablast?
Bomb the Bass (1987) recycled precisely this bass sample from 1976.
Minimalistic and very good. Ahead of time too...

This & warriors are not dystopia ... they are also real life when u see the big picture. My culture has warriors
Vi som minns. we who remember so good...
No he didnt, you are right. I just meant to compare the two scores and the film settings. I can see how what i typed could be taken that way.

unfortunately Austin Stoker passed away this week
So this is the Theme used in Megablast of Bomb the Bass...
