Critical Hit does Critical Damage on the last hit of a combo. Critical Damage is a 2x multiplier. However, your weapon will lose durability since combos are still normal attacks. So the Royal Guard Greatsword with Silver Lynel Saber Horn (the 194 weapon) would break first before the Crit.
So the +10 Atk is better.
Also, by using some glitches, you could throw critical hit on an unbreakable master sword with silver lynel saber horn to have a sword that does 85 +85 +85 + 170 damage in 1 combo. (425 total damage)
This is better than +10 atk, as the crit is basically 5 attacks in 4 hits, but +10 atk only gives 40 extra damage in 4 hits. (380 total damage)
Basically, +10 ATK is better for the royal guard weapons, since you'd use them on the lynel's back, not in a combo.
But in other cases, Critical hit is better
EDIT: Since the unbreakable master sword is... unbreakable, it can't actually get any modifiers, since it can't be damage

You can take out the armor off of enemies with arrows if you fuse the arrows with smashing materials such as like like stones or the mace horns or stalnox horns. With a multi shot bow, that sends out multi fused smash arrows!

Idk if anyone will see this or if this helps anyone but here you go. You can actually get a *slightly* more powerful version of the same weapon. All you need is a pristine version of the royal guard claymore which does 46 damage.
      So 46 + 10 (Gold Upgrade) = 56
      56 + 55 = 110(Silver Lynel Saber Horn)
      111 x 2 = 222 (Breaking Point)
      222 x 2 = 444! (Final Hit Before Breaking)
I don’t have the evil spirit armour unlocked yet but when I do, I’ll do the Bone Prof. weapon
      Edit: Wait, nvm lol 😂

    • @MorganSaph

      @@azcatec. pristine does 39 instead of 32.
      +10 is 49.
Throw on Colgera Jaw, strongest bone in the game at 36, that's 85.
Multiply by 1.8 for bone prof, that's 153
      Multiply by 1.5 for Atk Up 3, that's 230
Multiply by 2 for Low Durability, that's 460
Multiply by 2 for Breaking Hit, that's 920.

What I've learned is that when you fuse a weapon with another weapon, the weapon on the tip is destroyed first. So early game I used a moblin arm and fused weapons on it for the purpose of durability. So my power 28 weapon that would last maybe 5 hits going to a 30+ weapon with much higher durability. When the tip broke I would just fuse a random weapon to it. This little trick kept me going through most of the early game. This only works with weapons being fused onto weapons.

    • @EricHughes124
      @EricHughes124 ปีที่แล้ว +23

Something I just learned is when you fuse an item onto your arrows with a multi shot bow, the item is attached to every arrow shot. This only uses up one of your items. So attaching something like a Gibdo bone to your arrow should multiply your attack output with arrows. So even if you have a three shot 10 attack bow, you would be doing 150 points of damage (10 from the bow and 40 per arrow) every time you fire it.

Got a good tip for making comparably strong weapons, like 150ish attack, but you can use anywhere: (mechanical spoilers ahead) with the Sage of Water ability you can have a lot of uptime on being "wet" weilding a Zora weapon. If you make a Lightscale Trident, which you can replace, and throw on a powerful fuse material, you can have a massively powerful weapon with high durability. Just made one that has 146 attack when wet, using only the 2nd best Lynel horn material (used my only saber horn on the lynel slaying sword in the video)

This will slam the sword into the ground damaging it. You can do this until you get the indicator that its about to break. Hope this helps ❤️

the way you're so kind and encouraging during the explanation of how to take on lynels was so nice 🥺 i never fought one in botw (not successfully anyway) because of anxiety over failing. i'm pretty decent at combat, i have good reaction time and i'm good at making split second decisions in battle. but with something like a lynel that has such a specific process otherwise you die in one hit, i get scared of messing it up for some reason. and then i get in my head while doing it and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy haha
i dont think i'll be taking on lynels any time soon still, but when i'm late game looking for something to do i'll definitely try it! and i'll put on this video to give me encouragement.

In BOTW, sure you'd get their weapons, but then you were shoe-horned into using only those weapons. With TOTK's fuse mechanic, you can apply weapon heads/blades/monster parts to the weapon of your choosing (2h, 1h, spear). When you also consider the different effects of different weapon types, and the upgrades you can get from octorocks, and you've got a plethora of options.

The Scimitar of the 7, which you can obtain in a side quest in Gerudo town, (at the cost of several diamonds) will double the damage mod of any attached weapon, getting you to around 130-140 if fused to a silver Lynel horn, as a one-handed weapon with great durability. It's not quite as good as a royal guard sword at 1 durability fused to the same thing, but unlike those, you don't have to worry about it breaking if you forget to switch back to a different weapon. Also, if you're still on an earlier version of the game, you can repair it easily by unfusing the attached material (either sacrificing it or going to tarrey town works) then fusing the scimitar to the end of another weapon, allowing you to bypass the Ocktoroc's no unique weapons restriction.

Unfortunately rock octorocks don't repair Legendary Weapons:(
I have tried both the Scimitar of the Seven and the Great Eagle Bow... he spits it right back out without repairing it so it's not sustainable unlike common weapons.
Anyone have suggestions for the best one-handed sword to fuse with silver lynel sabre horn for max damage AND it's able to be repaired?? I'm thinking maybe Gerudo Scimitar?

The royal claymore may be comparable to the gnarled stick, but if you can find a rock octorok then you can feed it your claymore which it will then clean and boost the stats pretty significantly.

if you don’t want to kill an armoured Lynel but you want a silver lynel horn, you can go to hyrule castle chasm and go into a cave, past the like like, kill the horriblins and go up near an enterance then kill the electric Keese then kill that lynel there.

I was very bad dodging and parrying but your suggestion, and showing, that we should just practice on a lynel trying until we got confident helped me get over the nervousness of fighting Lynels. I also followed your armor guide which was helpful and happily spoiler free since i am early in the game.

Excellent guide as always and made me test some builds. I got a Pristine Royal Guard’s Claymore with Attack Up +10, damaged it like you said and fused a Silver Lynel Saber Horn to it. That got me a 208 weapon to kill lynel! (98+110 thanks to the 2x). I also have a 115 dmg Gerudo Scimitar+White-Maned Lynel Saber Horn (I got tired of just fusing Silver Lynel horns to everything and staring at an inventory of katanas).

This video has helped me with Lynels a lot. I’m getting to the point where most of the time I’m not taking any damage whatsoever. Some of my blue lynels after my last blood moon had respawn as white lynels which made it an even tougher challenge.

Your videos are truly the best! I have been following your farming strategy for the mobs in the depths for crystallized charges, and I’m following along with the lynel farming. I love that you helped out your IRL friend with lynels, too! All around helpful, as always!

The Typhlo Ruins is great for construct parts! There's a bunch of soldiers patrolling the area and a couple of stationary Captains as well. They all scale up w/ exp.

Never played BOTW and about 150 hours into TOTK. I got to the boss battle in Hyrule Castle and it became apparent I cannot proceed without better weapons. I had avoided this video until now because it was so long and I reckoned I’d figure it out on my own. But in fact I have been thinking that the game will be much less frustrating if I learn to flurry rush and perfect parry. The idea of learning these skills on a “starter lynel” turned out a good one, thanks Austin!

For getting to the Forge Sky Island, I would recommend using the floating platform and the dozen or so rockets that are on the North Necluda Island. It gives you enough to just be able to glide to the Forge Island!

Thank you so much for this video and all of your Tears of the Kingdom videos! Having started playing TotK a couple of months ago, I've watched almost all of your videos on it. They've all been super helpful. Some I've watched for entertainment while others I've watched for guidance. This video in particular allowed me to farm Lynels like they were nothing. I was so happy to upgrade the Barbarian armor up to 4 stars. It's so satisfying to farm Lynels and use their parts to make strong weapons. Keep up the awesome work!

To take these tips a bit further, you can also go to Gerudo Town and the Gerudo weapons have a bonus to fusions which can make some really strong weapons really early. You can also do the Lightning Temple quest to get a bunch of Gibdo bones which are one-time use even on weapon fusions but have insane damage, 55 for a ribcage, and would make really good fuseables for those Lynel bows when you’re using them to kill Lynels.

helpful tip on fighting lynels, grab two chests (either from the world or from two Zelda amiibos) glue them together and bring them to the lynel, due to some kinda bug, chests don't break apart when they roar, but the lynel will just keep roaring till the end of time trying to do so, so you can take your sweet time and slowly beat that lynel until it dies as it just stands there roaring, feels sad, but it's easy

I found this out the hard way, but for the mighty construct weapons, they will not be mighty until you have beaten the entire game, I believe. I tried this and it was just regular construct weapons

I’m a bit late to the game here…picked up TotK for Christmas. Just watched this video a few days ago…with all the changes since BotW there had to be a different/better strategy than what I used in BotW to defeat Lynels. Without Revali’s Gale to get me up in the air for bullet time, I am at a disadvantage on flat terrain…I don’t use my shield to parry, nor do I use flurry rush…I typically rely on stealth and simply over-powering my enemies. However, thanks to getting some seriously over-powered weapons (I still don’t have the optimal BEST weapon, but decided to give it a go anyway after laying down my Travel Medallion and doing a Hard Save)…I was able to complete the Floating Colosseum on my first attempt!!! Thanks so much Austin John Plays!!!
