- The Royal Guard may have failed to protect against the calamity 100 years ago, but given the time and skill, can we done their tools to get the job done once and for all? And yes, we will be wiping out the entire castle in revenge - I hope you all enjoy this themed run of Breath of the Wild!! :D

There is no official item map for the run as Hyrule Castle is a fully 3d space, but the locations of each of the 2 royal guard weapons and the armor can be found within the first chapter of this video! The master mode exclusive ones are shown off much later on

Something you may not know: The Molduking has a small chance of dropping chests that contain royal guard bows and shields. This makes it the only source of royal guard equipment that isn’t in or near to the castle. Obviously it isn’t useful for this run, as it wouldn’t be worth it to do half the Champion’s Ballad to have a small chance of getting more equipment, but it’s a cool fact!

I just looked it up to see the stats - its an 8% chance to get a royal guard shield from their chest and a 12% for the bow! Very neat :D
It's a SMALL chance? I got it on my first (and so far only) try! Wow.
Thanks for the tip, I didn’t know this! It wouldn’t be usable at all in this run though, since you’d have to use the Obliterator.
@Bryce Neill True, and you’d have to kill the Molduking to get the chests, which would use up a lot of durability and wouldn’t be worth it anyway
bruh the idea of a royal guard who survived the calamity coming back to the castle and just decimating all the enemies who defeated his comrades on his own is so cool

TFW the Goron only run is so dreaded he chooses to be a Royal Guard instead. Not even the Drill Shaft can save a bow-less run.

@@jasminetownson4668 Completely forgot that the Gorons had no shields either. To be fair, Daruk and especially Daruk parrying can mitigate that somewhat, though the timing is super strict.
And swordless. Though without shields does it really matter
I heard that the lynel weapons are forged from the Goron so he could use those

The whole having to kill all 70 enemies in the castle makes this extra spicy. I dig it!
I greatly appreciate the editing in this, the amount of onbeat kills to Spear of Justice and just the quality of music in general is a big part of why this series is as entertaining as it is.

Can you try to do the Monster Equipment challenge? Basically: only weapon avaliable are Lizard, Moblin or Bokoblin weapons and the only armor is the Dark Link tunic.

This was SUCH a good run!!! The castle is so bizarre without any enemies in it, just casually paragliding through without any lasers? Deeply weird.
Also I LOVE that you used hollow knight music!!!! It worked *so* well for the castle

If you're out of ideas for what to do on your next themed run, maybe sort of a hero themed run where you can only use Link weapons and armour, such as the Champion's Tunic and the Hylian Trousers with the Master Sword, or maybe all the Link caps, tunics and trousers.

@@Croton my first playthrough took me over 400 hours before I decided it was finished and immediately started playthrough #2 I still go back and look at it every now and then, it taught me so much about the game (It also kinda took me 300 hours to find Mija) and no I didn’t get all the shrines because I’m too lazy for Kass quests and I refuse to use tutorials for any other roamers

@@calamitygoku8746 Sans ofc. Ganon is a complete pushover in this game. Even Toriel is more of a boss than Calamity and Dark Beast.

I would love to see you do this with lynel armor. You can only use lynel bows, weapons, and shields. Plus you can only use shock arrows. The only armor you can use is the barbarian armor. If this seems too difficult remember there are many lynel weapons you can use without actually killing any lynels.
Once you get the first one it would be fairly easy because lynel weapons are so strong
I’m not trying to ruin your idea, but what about Naboris? You have to use bomb arrows to shoot the legs to get inside

I can't wait for the Bone Weapons only run with the Luminous Armor and the Phantom Ganon Armor. (Either can be used, Luminous for Defense, Phantom for Sneak) and for bone weapons, Stal arms and Stal weapons, as well as Dragonbone Weaponry.
If you haven't seen Wolf Link's minimalist 100% videos, they are super fun to watch. You can learn a lot of tips and tricks(like how you can do the Flight Range with only bombs), because he's doing it with the least amount of stuff possible. Looking forward to Goron run eventually if it's possible!

I don't know why, but hearing Battle Against a True Hero over your fight with Ganon gives me the idea that Link and Undyne would probably get along pretty well. Also BAaTH fits Link pretty well as a battle theme, too.

Video idea: Monster run you can only use weapons that you get from monster like the boko club, moblin spear etc. You also have to defeat every monster camp before you can kill Ganon but you can do the divine beasts freely. But you can buy armor but with only rupees you get from selling monster parts.
Yeah, this could also allow the phantom ganon armor, majors mask and maybe radiant armor.
Also should allow lynel weapons maybe, would be hard to get that but it would be powerful

Here’s something funny I found that could’ve helped this challenge: I found a Royal Guard’s Spear inside a chest at the top of the second gatehouse in normal mode. It’s inside the destroyed roof at the very top of the gatehouse if anyone is curious
The royal drillshaft, hidden away for its power, rivaling that of the famous master sword

Maybe only barbarian gear? You can only use Lynels weapons and before reaching Ganon you have to beat every lynel to achieve the challenge, I don't know maybe is an interesting idea to try.
Lynell or maybe boko and/or moblin since you see dragon bone on the arm, so it could be they used similar clubs.

You have access to bows, and shields... and if you mean ,because they'd break too quickly, that can be completely ignored, because you can defeat Lynels without damaging your weapon at all, by repeatedly mounting them... in Master Mode, you can also just find Lynel weapons in chests, and sometimes Bokoblins use them.

I really appreciate how the horse is named Undyne and a lot of the music is from when you fight Undyne in Undertale. Great editing and great video overall!

Hey Croton I have a good idea for a new themed run. Try doing a run with only Boko/Dragonbone weapons and outfits. The armor would be the barbarian set I tried it and it was pretty easy because they are very common early in game especially in master mode.
I haven't watched the full thing yet, so I don't know if he's found this out yet, but there is a third Royal Guard's Halberd. It's in a chest on the spire of (I think) the third outpost. The one where you fight the second lynel.

I feel like Goron would be a unique one seeing as they have armor and two handed weapons only, if you need some rules I can help
1:only Goron gear can be used(armor, stone smasher, sledgehammer[I know its technically not a Goron weapons but it still works] and of course the drillshaft)
2:only Daruks protection can be used as a champion ability
3:all mini bosses in the Eldon region must be defeated at least once
4: forced mandatory items are allowed (Zora armor, Gerudo set, bows[ONLY for divine beast entry])

That would be impossible. Gorons have no bow or shield. You need a bow for waterblight.

This was amazing, I was shocked out my mind when I heard the grimm troupe leader theme because ive been listening to it because how good it is, I also have a challenge idea called “The Lord Of Hyrule” the challenge is the normal rules (mandatory items are ok mandatory divine beast) champion abilities must be on at all times main clothes are the hylian trousers and the tunic you get from the memory quest, all memories must be unlocked, champion weapons can only be used once.
Dude the double perry swapping was fucking badass but getting snipered by the guardian near the end fucking killed me laughing
I really feel like goron only great would be pretty fun. Incredibly painful and difficult, but fun
Edit: actually just realised it has no bows, which would be really difficult. Maybe bone only then?
I think having bows should be an exception and just drop them after you're done
He managed to do drill shaft only run; IE no bows, so maybe it'd be easier than that run!

I’m so glad to see that someone else did this. I did it on my second play through and I’m happy that Dave (my supposed royal guard who survived) has a friend in this desolate world.
I'm actually glad that despite watching most of the streams that I ended mostly forgetting most of what happened so I can watch this with a fairly fresh view

can't use attacks while on ground, but you can jump attack (after jumping off a wall) and use bullet time ( again, jump off a wall)

you should do weapon classes only like: only bows or only runes. maybe do some nuzlocke stuff like: only can use a weapon once, no damage, etc.
Loved the use of oricimarus theme when in the castle really added to the atmosphere

I think a Monster-only run or a Soldier-only run would be really cool. A secondary mission for the monster run could be obtaining all the monster masks or defeating all the overworld bosses.
Or a Dark Link run, however that would work.

You should do a Hero of Twilight Run, twilight Bow hylian shield master sword and the twilight gear from amiibo, insanely hard to gear up, but incredibly fun, and the devious tricks before you get geared are going to be interesting
Tons of savescumming required for that bow haha, but would be cool to have!

@@Croton the special rule for this specific run could mean banning savescumming, you would have to get bullet time physics other ways or do less bow-heavy bosses first, like Fireblight maybe?

This was super cool. Well played. I do think you should’ve defeated the major test of strength as part as clearing by rule castle though :)
Had two themed run ideas:
1) Champion run: must wear champion tunic and hylian pants. Must obtain the master sword (and because you can’t for a long while, you can use any found weapons until then, but you must obtain it as soon as possible) and the hylian shield. Must complete all 100 shrines and regain all of links memories!
2) Barbarian run: can only use monster crafted weapons. Must obtain and wear all three pieces of barbarian armor. Never register your horse- must ride bareback the whole game.
If these sound like fun, I hope you use them!

You really should try one, they're a blast to play through! Really just pick your favorite aesthetic and go from there, they are all on a relatively similar difficulty level (but Rito Zora and Gerudo were probably the easiest)

Can you do a run using only lynel gear. I know that except for the mask, that you get from kilton, there isn't any armor but if you take the leggings and the chest peace from the labyrinths and die them white in hateno village, they will fit right in.
I think the problem with that run is you have to beat a lynel to get lynel weapons and I don't think it's possible with bombs.

@@marakonstantara3897 I watched a couple. They're on normal mode n these challenge videos are mastermode challenges. Also have to parry or dodge every attack for 20 minutes without messing up once. I suppose it is possible but who has that kind of patience lol
