  • Having trouble getting your router insert plate flush & level with your table top? If you have built a router table, this can often be a real problem.
    This video will show you a simple but very effective method to adjust that plate right on the money. It does not require shims, adjusting screws, expensive leveling systems, or manufactured jigs. It only takes two or three dollars worth of parts from your local hardware store.
    This technique will work with any standard manufactured mounting plate, such as Rousseau or Kreg.
    See it on Amazon :

    What a brilliantly simple idea. It takes a certain kind of thinking to come up with things like that. I just haven't got it. Thanks so much for sharing.

      Simple (and cheap) is best. Occasionally I have a good idea.

    Thank You so much. Great idea. I'm practed on two smaller insert plates and it was a pain in my butt. Failed both times. Practicing so I don't screw it up on my time consuming awesome table i designed...

    Perfect timing for me to find this video! I just cut the hole for my Kreg router Plate in the top of one of my workbenches and discovered that getting it just perfect is impossible. (Impossible for me anyway.) I was just about to head to the hardware store to pick up some t nuts and try using them and bolts to level the plate. This is so much easier! Thanks!!

    This is a great idea, how did youtube know my routerplate wasn't flush properly ? :) You 're using rubbers to very fine adjust the squishy effect onto the outside board. Clever!

      Great. I used screws under the plate before I thought of the o-rings and they were much harder to set up and keep in adjustment

    I have the Kreg router table this will be a good alternate solution because the Kreg table is wildly crooked as shown by a straight edge that no amount of adjustment will remove obstructions around the plate.

    Wish I could do this. I have Rockler’s table and it has EIGHT leveling screws under the table and two each on two of the corners. It is a nightmare so far.

    • @deerparkhomeshop2471
      @deerparkhomeshop2471  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Look at the bright side. If you ever get it adjusted just right, your router plate is unlikely to ever warp with all that support.

    Love the washer idea, but why not 15/64 for your four pilot holes?

    • @deerparkhomeshop2471
      @deerparkhomeshop2471  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's only a slight difference so it should work. I'm using a Kreg plate, but If you have a different plate the bolts may differ in size, so you just want the hole to be big enough for your mounting bolt to easily slip in, but not big enough for the o-ring to sink down into the recess. Thanks for watching!

    • @stephanieray6587
      @stephanieray6587 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deerparkhomeshop2471 It is just that I though pilot holes were supposed to be slightly smaller than the screw going in? Sorry to be so picky, the washer idea is brilliant!

    • @deerparkhomeshop2471
      @deerparkhomeshop2471  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stephanieray6587 You may have a different mounting system than I do. Mine uses a bolt with a washer and nut under neath the table. As you tighten the bolt into the nut it will pull the plate down and so align the plate flush with the table. If you are using a screw with a pointed end you would want to use a a slightly smaller pilot hole so that the threads would bite in to the wood fibers and thus hold the plate at the correct height. I hope this helps. If not, please feel free to reach out to me again.
