A XC training video for you all with Erol and Izzy and Tiny!
We headed to tweseldown for some XC and after my fall off Erol in the water at oxstalls a year and a half ago I decided to ask Nick to ride Erol for me. I just wanted him to have a really positive experience and Nick has produced many many young horses and also with Nick having bred Erol I thought it would be nice for him to have a ride on Erol and I could get his opinion on him ☺️
It was a very successful training session and i hope you guys enjoy this video and found it informative ☺️

I actually thought Izzy looked SUPER. Her position is so confident now and watch her lower leg...it hardly moves at all. She's planted in that saddle , and prepared for everything. I think the improvement is massive.
What fun to watch! Erol was a riot when he tried to jump the pond (Erol: I COULD have done it, you know!) but every time he had a little trouble w/ something the first time he went back & did it right after that---fast learner. I do think you'd better take a kettle along & somehow hook it up so he can have warm water---or maybe solar (you have sun sometimes, yes?); he really hates that cold water! Izzy, you & Tiny did great, both of you improved as the session went on---you hit it on the head when you said he gets his gymnastics out on the warm-up, then gets down to business when you get serious. One of those horses that just needs a job to bring out his best! You look like you are learning to trust him more. And he is very beautiful (you too, Erol, unless you're kicking over the water bucket & trying to avoid the ice boots!!). Thanks for sharing.

Izzy and Tiny are looking like such a well matched confident pair now. A lovely neat rider and Tiny looking so enthusiastic. Love Errol too, he always seems to enjoy his outings

Another really fabulous video Ashley, Nick did a great job with Errol, who IMO is coming on in leaps and bounds and for one so young, it is amazing watching him progress. Izzy and Tiny are looking really well matched now, really lovely to see.

So great to see Erol coming into his own, and Tiny is going to be fun this year. They both are so good once they understand. I was looking really forward to seeing Max eventing this year, but I haven't seen him in a while. Is he ok?

Great fun to watch, and great to see a young horse get a positive experience, also good for you Ashley, to see him being ridden/see how he goes so you know what you have to do when in the saddle. I’m sorry but that mud would put me off.

Erol you little superstar 🤩 Izzy my best was horse a wild child he had been a “ juvenile delinquent “ racing nickname his whole life but put a job in front of him 100% focus - he loved to win ! Haha 😂 & that’s what I loved about him . From stealing buckets , takes , handbags , upending people by the heel of their boot , bucking anyone else off & a bucket load more . He even caught someone in his stable at a competition put them in a corner until I came haha . Watch horse 😂 Butter wouldn’t melt in your face Eyes 👀 Enjoy the liveliness

Tiny. Woooohooo. He’s really up for it and capable. Looking in way better condition. Superb. Would say Izzy he’d love softer hands from you ability to slip a little and give to him. But he’s a different horse. Errol just needs more. He’s so scopey the more you ask the better he’ll be and he does need real strong riding and guidance. He’ll jump the moon.

Probs not on Zeb because of his age but hoping to on Erol 😊
I have done a fair amount of jumping over the years and have always been told and schooled to release the horse over the fence, I find all of you keep a tight rein on the horses over the fences??? Not a criticism, just asking a question, is this because your eventing and not show jumping? Or is it because the event horses seem to go on their forehand galloping and not sitting or collecting at fences? It just seems that the tight rein is part of Izzy's problem with her horse, kind of conflicting signals... thanks, love your volg, just curious on the style and why
Mainly because we are eventing and not showjumping, it’s up and downhill 😊
